When the city sidewalk is cut, half inch holes should be drilled in about 4”inches in the existing sidewalk cut, inserting 8 inch 1/2” rebar in the holes,this keeps the new section of sidewalk from moving or separating or sinking lower than the existing sidewalk cut. I did not see this being done, if I was the city inspector and saw no anchors rebar, I would have required some before any concrete was poured.

Love it so much. Crazy so many people wanna say, that's not possible, about so many things, like growing many many plants. All without actually trying or thinking of solutions. They stonewall themself into a corner of "it's not possible" ending all creativity and actual possibility and action.

I love the idea, but for me and most in Texas, HOA's and City Ordinances and grading prevent the luxury of this. For those that can do it and don't mind the water trenches throughout the yard I say go for it. To clarify City Ordinances we are not able to penetrate curb walls at any point without City approval and then only for driveway extensions. This is likely due to all the shoddy French drainage systems installed making curb maintenance an expensive problem. It only takes one bad apple to spoil the barrel.

Sir, those large rocks you placed within the cobs. If I was to do the same, should I heat those large rocks up first to see if they have trapped air bubbles that would result in an explosion?

Cool project. Although I had to smile a bit at the referring to San Antonio as a desert. Drought just means drier than normal for that location. You're still getting more rain than most of the western US.

I like the video and the ideas presented, BUT! Critic: For the message to be received better for more people, aesthetics, looks and beauty should not be underestimated!! even just slightly trimmed trees and bushes so they dont appear so unkempt would go quite far, and a few better looking flowers and plants in front would be fantastic! Since your goal is to spread awareness of these ideas, "appeal" should not be undervalued and would be a disservice to your message/goal. (on paper you getting even 1 more person to do this because you had 1 row of better looking plants that still fit the environment vs the 1 row of the best plants for the environment would result in big positive gains!!)

Why would you make this video???? Texas is about to patch this in the next update.
@tuexss17 сағат бұрын
Sponge design cities have started lowering the green patches for greenery on the center and side of the street below the street level and having openings that lets water from the street accumulate in those ditches, where it can seep down slowly into the ground and provide water to all plants. For larger areas they have whole ponds with flooding area behind houses in parklike areas to catch all of the runoff from rooftops and pathways. These passive designs are the best, the sound of insects, frogs, birds, is living proof.

5:46 this means nothing. This test is biased and conducted poorly. On the right you have compacted the earth and on the left you have not. depending on what you already have, regarding trees and plants, they could help the soil getting wet on a rainy day... that is why there are so many trees on hills and mountains... There are proper methods to test if water retention is good or not in a soil...

I must say, that I am very grateful that in Iceland, the public does not pay for cold water. It is free. We pay for hot water, that is used for heating the houses and for other uses. Companies do pay for the the cold water since the usage can be quite extreme. The price per M3 for the hot water that gets piped into the homes in Iceland is similarly priced as cold water in other Nordic countries that do pay for the cold water. Countries like Norway then heat the water in the individual homes using electricity.

One hopefully minor hazard, though, is the extra UV (reflected) that any creature nearby will receive -- I'd guess 1.5 to 2x as much, from limited experiments with my UV meter.

Agreed. Imagine if our rain flowed into a giant local reservoir system that then drained slowly into the river for months at a time in order to maintain its flow.

Figure out where the rain in your street would flow to. Local river authorities might be able to help.
