i bought 2 aloe vera plant, put aside 2 weeks without soil and water. Both outer leaves became rusty brown colour, inner leaves still green colour.

I just eyeballed everything. I always add my used soil to the compost bin so that when the compost is ready, I don't have to mix anything. Just like what I did here kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKe6gHmAqc6ho9k

this is the best aloe vera channel ever!!🎉🎉 sir i also wanted to ask whether i can cut up some kitchen leftovers as manure for my young aloes. and how often should i give them manure to grow well and healthy, and faster of course😊😅

Actually, that is what I did when I started. I used kitchen scraps for my aloe vera but I dried them first before adding to the plants. You may want to watch this video also kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKe6gHmAqc6ho9k

sir its cold season in my area this december and i dont know whether i should water them as much as i used to during summer. please how should i water my aloes during this weather?
@TheAloeVeraGarden11 күн бұрын
I don't water my plants during December, not only because it is a cold month but also because there is occasional rain, and the soil doesn't dry up easily. You can skip watering the plants if you have bigger pots and lots of soil. You may also check from time to time if the soil gets very dry despite the weather and water it if needed.

My aloe plants tend to grow long and thin leaves compared to most I have seen...is this a light issue? They also seem to have issues holding themselves upright, and my largest one needs a stake to hold it up. Any suggestions? I have heard some sand in the soil may help with them holding themselves up, it seems to happen when the soil is dry. Maybe I should try some different soil...I just use cheap garden soil but I might try some soil from outside and repot them. It's almost as if the soil is too loose, if that makes sense. Or maybe the root system if having troubles too, along with the thin and long leaves.
@TheAloeVeraGarden13 күн бұрын
What kind of aloe you grow? Also, give your aloe plants enough sunlight to keep them upright.

sir i just transplanted my aloe plants 2 months ago and i recently did a root check on them and one of them was showing brown spots on the leaves accompanied with root rot and the same root rot for two more so i planted them in smaller pots but my question is what is the main reason or reasons for root rotting? and how can i prevent it
@TheAloeVeraGarden13 күн бұрын
If it is newly planted, it is normal for the old roots to rot. The plant will grow new roots.

I believe the answer here may be years. One place on the internet there was a reference to a plant that survived 2 years in soil with no watering. (context: This was in a workplace.) Another place on the internet there was a reference to a hanging plant (no dirt, no soil) that came back after 5 years. I am suspicious these plants can pull some moisture out of the air, and can retain water very long. How long the plant can survive is going to vary on the conditions such as heat, humidity, light and more. In an outside setting temperature changes, condensation and humidity levels might actually allow the plant to survive longer. I really came here for the comments hoping someone else had some good personal accounts of plants lasting a very long time. In some places, like a workplace, might not be the best area for testing as sometimes a guest might randomly water a plant to no one else's knowledge. An empty house, spare bedroom or limited access space might be a good test. This should really be tested, but I fear, the test would never end. In the right conditions, it would take forever.

I only saw Aloe vera grow pups on the flower stalk while the stalk was still attached to the mother plant and happens very rarely. I don't know if it can be propagated but it is worth a try. Thank you for suggesting.
