If I don’t have a fine mesh strainer, can I use a coffee filter? Or would that absorb too much?
@TheAloeVeraGarden17 сағат бұрын
It might be very difficult for the Aloe vera gel to pass through the coffee filter.

Aloes need a better soil mix with sand. Yours is mostly clay and that has bad drainage.

JADAM is for increasing the microscopic life in your soil, if I'm not mistaken. Your homemade compost probably has the highest concentration of microbes you are likely able to obtain in soil without cultivating wild microbes. I know a lot of JADAM and KNF is about cultivating your own microbiome from an area in nature near you that grows plants naturally well. Idk about what is in that liquid, but I can't imagine those benefits can come in a bottle. Thank you for the test and reporting!!!

Thank you very much for your input. I too am not sure about bottling JADAM liquid fertilizer. I tried to make my own before but the smell is bothersome especially since I have neighbors.

That is leaf rot; the plant is most likely to die if you don't save it soon.

You've taught us so much, but there's one thing I can't seem to find on KZbin how to make aloe vera water. The aloe vera water I'm referring to is crystal clear, just like the water we drink every day. Could you please explain how to make it?

I have it for one year, grows huge and no babiessss.. I moved her out in summer and she got burnt (changed her color to a rusty brown) so I brought her back in and she is green again. But that stress was NOT enough..she is still babiless 😂 I also dropped something on her..no babies. She is so beautiful and I'm grateful she grows and opens up so nice
@TheAloeVeraGarden13 күн бұрын
😂 😂 I hear you. Maybe I missed mentioning that Aloe vera can only be stressed through its root system, not leaves. You may burn the leaves with the sun, but it will still be fine with Aloe vera.
@shirasheartbeats13 күн бұрын
@@TheAloeVeraGarden haha, you did specify roots, but I took the idea of stress more. I moved my aloe into a bigger pot early after I bought it. I believe she has super enough space and thus, no babies needed as she has so much space to develop. Maybe I will just not move her and will see how it goes. Aloe is a fascinating plant, I would like to have her for long time.

To be added: the stress from a plant falling down from the porch, made her produce pups. Atention people, I'm not saying to throw your plant like a basketball, but if you need pups in 1 month, "a little accident" like that could make the plant produce. Still, I'm not recomending it, but it happend to me by mistake. The plant is fine now! Fully recovered

@TheAloeVeraGarden13 күн бұрын
No, the leaf alone cannot propagate. It has to have a stem tissue attached to the plant. Perhaps this tutorial can help kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z56Qg56hq9KUgsk

Hi, is it okay if I substitute coconut oil with Neptune oil or ordinary cooking oil at home?
@TheAloeVeraGarden13 күн бұрын
You can replace the coconut oil with any kind of oil you like but you also have to change the amount of sodium hydroxide because each oil has a different saponification value.

I really love this idea as I've been looking for an aloe recipe and this is simple and cost effective. However how does this pan out in the long run for those in the areas where the temperatures drop below 70 I would think that the coconut oil will harden and clog drains. What is the next best oil? can I use jojoba oil? thanks
@TheAloeVeraGarden14 күн бұрын
You can use any oil you like. Just check its saponification value to know how much sodium hydroxide to use. Also, there is no more oil in the soap after it saponified.

Respectfully...making an aloe vera soap is not the equivalent of making a castile soap. Traditional Castile soap is made of pure olive oil and then the lye mixture. And it takes up to a year to properly cure. I like and appreciate the simplicity of your recipe. I think that you over simplify the process (absent the hand mixing for over an hr!) and I did not see you put on any safety gear when mixing the lye. Proper eye and skin protection are a must! You only have one set of eyes! Final thought...cure that bad boy for the proper 4-6 wks for the full saponification process to take place.
