As a young guitar player, I grew up idolising Mick Taylor. He brought an extra spark of musicality and magic to the already great Stones and his playing with Jack Bruce and Bob Dylan was superb! (John Mayall too!) However, I just can't warm to him as a solo artist and band leader; all the talk of following his creative Muse and exploring his untapped musical potential which was stifled during his time with the Stones was, sadly, hot air. Some players just work better as sidemen, albeit top quality ones. Seeing a fat Mick Taylor playing old Stones songs and singing them badly depresses me greatly. I'm off to listen to Brussels Affair or Infidels for some of the real MT Magic... 🎸🎶👌

Brian Jones brought creativity to The Rolling Stones. Mick Taylor brought creativity to The Rolling Stones. Ron Wood not so much even though he helped bring longevity to the Rolling Stones.

What makes him a true man is that he refused Jaggers invititation to join the band on a regular basis. He felt the responsibility to care for his family and his health which the Stones slowly destroyed. He was becoming a seroius heroin addict and without quiting the band he problably wouldn't be alive today. It was the best decision he ever made! What do you want to do with much more money that you can spend and being as popular so that you can't even buy some milk! Well done Mick!!!

He looks very rested here.....in some of the photos while with the Stones he looks strung out with eyes like hadn't had a good nights sleep in weeks. Maybe it's the hair in the face and contrast of shadows in old photos.

Just imagine opting out of the Rolling Stones when they had just made three of the most iconic albums in rock-music history.

it's funny that The Stones will have Eric Clapton or Buddy Guy guest on one or two songs now and again... but that Mick Taylor, as good as both of them technically, and even better live, was IN THE BAND during their most important period... THIS GUITAR PLAYING you see right here was part of The Stones...

So, Mick Taylor wanted to get away from the drugs surrounding the Stones. By going off to work with Jack Bruce?…
@ClassicTVMan1981X10 ай бұрын
He didn't stay long with Mr. Bruce... he briefly considered rejoining The Rolling Stones before the band finally confirmed ex-Faces guitarist Ronnie Wood as his replacement in early 1976.
