The reason the Stones make so much money now is because of business deals/sponsorship. Their most creative and fantastic period was when Mick Taylor was in the band. Although I love Keef, I have to admit, Mick Taylor is the greatest guitarist in the world.

I agree. He's the reason the stones had that incredible Era. Exile on Main Street goats head soup and c a few others. No doubt he was an addition to the band that really boosted their music. Unfortunately he realized being in the stones was a health hazard and called it quits. A big loss. Never be the same. Brian Jones was a great player too. But wow what a sound he gave the stones

When Mick first replaced Peter Green in the Blues Breakers, his playing was fresh and outstanding. Listen to the Crusade album. Saw that band at the Cafe a Go Go in the village. Very small club. Great show. Will never forget Mick that night. Dressed in aviator jacket ala Fresh Cream. On par with Eric C.

Mick Taylor I think is next to Hendrix, Clapton , Page ect. Mick was brilliant in The Bluesbreakers, Stones, Jack Bruce and his solo stuff. Hes one of the greatest of all time. Hes in it for the music and not just to make a buck. He has a real understanding of feeling and passion for guitar like no other. Hes one of the main reasons why I picked up a guitar. I hope he tours with the Stones next year. They never recovered after he left. Ronnie can't hold MT's guitar strap.

MT is such a beautiful player, players like him boggle my mind,I can play some guitar but if I practiced for 40 years I do not think that playing solos like he does would ever be possible, and he makes it look so easy, he had to play in a former life or something to take to it as naturally as he did, MT also plays the Bass guitar track on Fingerprint FIle, go have a listen to it, amazing

My favorite guitarist too.. It wasn't his fault. He wasn't getting the artistic due. It was Mick Jagger and Kieth all of the way. He had songs he wanted to contribute, and ideas that weren't allowed. When he told Mick and Keith that he wanted to to leave, they asked him not to, but to take 6 months off. But weren't telling him that HE would contribute.. What a loss for the Stones..

The Stones are not a family. They are a gang. Mick and Keith have a proven track record of writing great songs. It was their songs that got the Stones where they are today. Taylor should have understood that when he agreed to join. Great guitarist tho. No doubt about that. Great but replaceable.

No other guitarist on earth that plays notes in transition on a fret board as smooth & clean like MT. Mick Taylor and he is a better guitarist than Clapton or for example, but he's not his own front man or as great a performer or composer as an Eric Clapton. After Taylor quit the Stones he went off to form a band with Jack Bruce that went nowhere, he did a few things with Dylan and other in studio recording artists that were OK but could never establish himself or find the recognition that he found with the Rolling Stones and with or with out him the Stones aren't an average band. The Stones didn't disappear with out Mick Taylor who thought he was better than the Stones when he quit the band in 74. Ron Wood passed the Black & Blue auditions in 75 and got to play in his favorite band in the world The Rolling Stones, and we should be so lucky !!! MT was insulted by Mick & Keith over how he wanted to play the guitar during recording sessions and felt he wanted credits on Time Waits For No One or Waiting On A Friend, he left and the Stones moved on without him. The fact of the matter is Mick Taylor left the Stones and went nowhere and to this day he regrets leaving.. I fell in love with the Stones music when I was a kid in grade school during the 1960's and to this day when I look back at how they evolved from the 1960's, 1970's, 1980's, 1990's, into the next century there's always a new song that they'll put out that will catch my ear, and there's the old debate of who's better band the Beatles or The Rolling Stones and I'm a fan of both, I guess you are what you grew up with and listing to........ Cool Audio Clip.

Woody did not change their sound. Brian Jones and Mick Taylor were key elements during their time with the band. After Some Girls, where Woody is fantastic, his playing fell off sharply, as a guitarist playing for 30 years I do not know anyone who sites Ron Wood as an influence but most certainly Keith and Mick Taylor are mentioned. Anyway the term "importance" is what they left behind on vinyl and the Mick Taylor era is far more vital and classic than the Ron Wood era will ever be
