Love seeing Tanukis all over our trip last year. I first saw them in Mario 3. Then Pom Poko as well. Taiyaki in Japan is on a whole new level. Love them fresh. 🥹 We tried to get Slice of Life during our trip and he had been open previous weeks before we got there. Then when he dropped his schedule we were so sad that he was having a private event. This next trip we're going to try again on a Sunday. *crosses fingers* so jealous! I'm originally from Texas so I've had my plethora of BBQ and wanted to try Wagyu Brisket from him. And Matt's reaction is prob going to be mine as well. I wonder if he can't get the mesquite that's essential to smoking it. But glad to hear it's still good. We were so disappointed with the Shirohige puffs but glad we had tried them out. At the cat temple it was raining for us too and it was so magical. We wanted to buy some nekos for our 14 year old calico that passed the year before but they had sold out. We both had tried to grab some Ghibli Tickets and the website kept kicking us out. But we managed to get Ghibli Park out in Nagoya. I heard the main museum could be underwhelming. But I still would like to check it out one day since I grew up with the films back in the 80's. Sorry for writing novels 😅

Not sure if you’ve looked into it, but he has a BBQ restaurant as well. Hope you can get it during your next trip. We liked the burnt ends the most. Just try to get there early! I know what you mean about the cream puffs. Choux pastry really isn’t our thing, but we liked the filling! Aww so sorry to hear about your calico baby. ❤️‍🩹 We have fur babies too, so our hearts go out to you. Maybe this next trip you can get some? Aren’t those reservations systems something else? We feel so grateful we were able to get tickets for both. We liked the museum for the price. We still recommend it! And no apologies needed. We really enjoy hearing about your adventures!

Was excited to see your video pop up on the algorithm because we're heading back to Japan Feb 2025 and this time stopping by at Hakone for the night. We will also be taking some of the suggested route by going to the Hakone Shrine, Owakudani and checking out the 400 year old Amasake Tea House. We wanted to do the Open Air Museum and the Hakone Check Point but with how slow all the transportation is there, there's just not enough time to do everything. Checking out the Evangelion Store while there since that's where it's based off of in the anime. We're also staying the night at a ryokan and Check in is at 3. That's one thing we disliked about Japan. The lines. In Asakusa we had to line up at 7/8 just to get time slots at 10am for Fluffy Pancakes at 1pm. They were so good but hated that we had to do that. Waited an hour for noodles in Ginza. We eventually just ignored the "Instagram spots," and went to little hole in the walls or less popular spots and the food was just as amazing. Sorry you had to deal with that. We always pack protein bars just in case stuff like that happens. If not I'll get Hangry. And thanks for the tip for standing off to the side for the Tori Gate. Great video y'all. It's also awesome to see "local-ish" people make videos in Japan. We're in MD. Oh! And Onsens are the best 😌 -Ven

Hi! So glad our video found you and thanks for taking the time to comment. If we had to skip something, we would skip the open air museum. It was nice but nothing that different from other sculpture gardens. Hopefully in February you will experience less crowds than we did. The ryokan will be super nice! I wish we booked one instead of having to head back to Tokyo. I think we may have went to the same pancake place - benizuru? It’s a lot of weighing benefit costs when you try to eat at these notable restaurants in Japan. We almost stopped at a 7-Eleven we passed but decided not to since we were going to eat at our onsen… but we all know how that planned out. 😂 Luckily I do think we had a protein bar to split between the two of us. That’s awesome you’re from MD. You’re not far from us at all! Thanks for stopping by and watching our little video. We hope you have a great trip and happy planning!

@@MattandRachelTravel we're hoping for lesser crowds as well seeing it's going to be a little more cold. And yes! We went to Benizuru. It was funny, we were in our airbnb and when I woke up I was like "I want fluffy pancakes, let's see if there's any of them around here." Found Benizuru and glad I went to go read tips on getting there early on Trip Advisor. And lucky it was a rest/slower day for us.
