When a turn table isn’t the best fit I buy dishpans to use as “drawers” in lower cabinets. Makes things easier to keep together and to pull out. Used this at our last house to group cake pans, smaller muffin tins, cookie cutters, and smaller appliances. Each grouping gets its own bin, can rotate forward or back depending on use/season. I also used one in an upper cabinet for Tupperware lids

Even though I scanned majority of my music on my IPad for practicing, my teacher was very adamant about keeping physical copies of music in binders. I found this to be useful while performing, but not a great way to organize my music. Do you have a way to organize single sheets of music? Or would you recommend those magazine files for them as well?

Re: Spices - I have narrow plastic organizers that I put some ethnic cooking spices into such as Indian Spices, the container including garam masala, cumin, ginger, curry, etc. so it's all together and I'm not chasing around the spice rack looking for all the needed items. Same can be done with Mexican, Japanese, etc. Also, rather than decanting EVERYTHING, I often put things like different types of rice packages into one large decanter. Easy to grab hold of, especially when deciding last minute, what kind of rice to serve with your main course. Types of salt, grinds of pepper, ditto.

My husband is the musician in the family and sang Opera for 2 years professionally. Now he teaches all kind of music and theater and can play all band instruments. His office is always neater than mine and I am a CPA and when we go out people realize he is the more structured of the two of us. lol

I had those exact cabinets (with the soft close) and handles in the first condo I owned. I remodeled it and installed those cabinets--they have full plywood boxes like yours--and they're really nice and built to last a long time.

I have watched a lot of people who are organizers on KZbin, honestly I feel like you are a breath of fresh air! You are the most realistic person I have watched ! I do struggle with clutter as we all do , granted there are things that are not mine in the space so I cannot control those items but what I can control does help me feel organized in a sense. I use drawer dividers in my dresser, I need better ones but they are doing their job ok, it does help keeping the underwear drawer a lot less chaotic

Minimalism in America it seems is something different. Because it has been part of other cultures for a very very long time. And it works just fine. No pretending . It just is.

When I moved into my first apartment in 2014, I found some allergy medicine that expired in 2003. Since then I have been good about getting rid of/using stuff up before it gets that old, haha.

Opening up my medicine cabinet always calms me down (too much stress nowadays with the future of our country at stake…I’ll take any little stress reliever I can). I’m a minimalist, so the hardest part for me is the height of the non-adjustable shelves.

We don’t have medicine cabinets at our new house but I always love to see organization ideas that I can use in other ways! I was quite ruthless on tossing old products before we moved last summer but I still have some eyeshadow that I’ve kept for over ten yrs. I don’t use it because it’s too old but it was my absolute favorite and it was discontinued. I’ve been wanting to find a dupe or hoping it comes back, and I refer to it every so often when I see something similar. Realizing now how long I’ve been holding onto it!! 🤣

I use the pandemic as my guide, lol. I ask myself, "Did i have this before the pandemic?" and if so then it gets tossed! I've been going through my make up and skincare and tossing like crazy. Its hard to believe its been four years. Thanks for the video.

I had eyeshadow that was over 30 years old and I don't wear eyeshadow. When I started decluttering, I became mindful about what I owned and got real with myself... it's gone now.

I have some Opium body lotion from 2016 - it is sentimental tho 😹 I use a marker to write the date the product will expire on the container (If there isn't an expiry date I write the date it was opened) - as I usually can't remember when I bought something. Getting an IUD and having my periods stop was fabulous!!!!

I love a clean med cabinet! It’s time to go through mine. As I like to do this once a month when I clean my makeup brushes, I rarely have anything too old! I keep makeup in my cabinet, and I know that the conditions are not ideal, yet it works for me! Probably the oldest thing is my mascara which I use sparingly and it hurts to throw away a $20 tube when it’s still mostly full!

My medicine cabinet is very well organized. I like to group things together like all my teeth stuff, hair stuff, face stuff and body stuff. I keep medications elsewhere. I also have a drawer that holds mostly big hair stuff and I do have a small train case, that is not kept in the bathroom, for makeup and makeup removers. It's a small cabinet but my husband and I have two, so we have our own. I get the drawer though, he doesn't have that. LOL I'm a meticulously organized person, but that doesn't stop me from making a mess sometimes. It's necessary for creativity.

Not in my medicine cabinet but I know I have some makeup still from 2018-2019. been periodically going through and getting rid of the old things.

I am keeping my everyday medications in a metal box that can be locked if needed , in the dining room next to my place at the table, since that is where I am taking them after eating breakfast and/or dinner. There are decorative metal storage boxes that may be locking with a key or having a hasp for a small padlock, suitable for any decor if you look . I love a good medicine cabinet orgamization. I think it is great that you focus more on function over aesthetics. I like an aesthetic cabinet, but if it is not functional, it is pointless. I always love your energy and authenticity. 😊

As you mentioned, most tablet/capsule/powder medicines are made to be stored in a cool dry space. Often used bathrooms can be more humid which can lead to medicines degrading more quickly. My pharmacist suggested keeping some dehumidifying packs in with your medications in a sealed box to ensure they remain in good condition. Then they can stay in the bathroom just fine. Edited for typos!

My husband and I did a big clean out of our double vanity about 4 weeks ago. We just repurposed unused tubs that we already had. It is so satisfying that it is so neat and organised.

I've never used the medicine cabinets in my homes... it's out of sight, out of mind for me, so I just keep everyday stuff on the counter or on open shelves on the wall. And then other bigger cabinets for replacements because the old school medicine cabinets are just so small! Simpler times I guess
