The books are straight fire, much darker and more grounded then this mess of a film

I didn't like his movies, jumps around from short scenes to the next.. story line was chopped... Only thing was the effects, but his versions of some transformers were awful

Execution aside, the plot of the entire trilogy is actually not that bad. The one thing that could fix this series is to have Newt undertake tasks that's actually up to his alley - involving the fantastical wildlife. They can tell the story about dumbledore and grindelwald but it should be separate to Newt's adventures. We could have two plots simultaneously happening similar to the lord of the rings where characters operate separately while ultimately arriving at the same end. Where on one hand, we see Newt try his best to do his mission of protecting and seeking wildlife while Dumbledore and his pals unravel the plots set by Grindelwald. Which would ultimately collide at the Qilin's existence. Imagine if instead of using Newt as this pseudo-magical CIA agent, they have him be a mere protector of the Qilin for the entirety of the third movie. While Newt tries his best to elude his pursuers, Dumbledore tries to pacify the current war and Theseus leads the merry band of anti-Grindelwald forces. In this way, we could have everything (remain the same way) while ultimately protecting the premise of the title itself - that this movie is about Fantastical Beasts and Grindelwald second. In this manner as well, our main protagonist would have a stake at the plot and something actually relevant to his profession.

It's an awful, incoherent mess. Yet, it's so 'out there' that i can only applaud it. Plenty of fascinating moments in it.

I tried to watch it last night not even aware it was made by Coppola, what a mess, the cheesy dated clubbing scene and that shocking scene of the rich guy entering to that building, flirting with reporter while trying to not fall on that stupid platform. Thats how much I could watch. I don’t think this format of cinema can survive passing this decade.

This was the perfect follow up. I'm with Tarantino on this movie. I understand that some people don't like it but that's to be expected As those who really liked JOKER misinterpreted The Whole Concept I could explain it But I don't have the time Or the crayons to do so. I'll end with this : I don't like comic book movies AND THIS ISN'T ONE. 👍🤡💣

More movies like this please, but let Joss Whedon direct. Snyder is boring and tedious. Buffy's creator is better at taking a fun story.

It's weird to think about now, but the dementors in this movie are sort of like one of those dumb 'childhood trauma' things for me. Just them swirling around with nothing but evil in there and then coming for you when you're at your most vulnerable sort of got a 12 year old me pretty hard. I'm sure if I actually sat down and watched it now though I'd only piss my pants just a little tiny bit.

This is one of the those films that, over time, the negative reviews will subvert and it will become known as a cult classic. The very best deconstruction of the idealisation and romanticism of killers ever placed to screen. It knew exactly what the audience wanted - another glorification of a psychopath and instead reminded us that Arthur's descent into Joker was a tragedy, not a celebration - and said 'No, I'm not 15. That would be shit'. A film that actively calls you an idiot for missing the point of the first so badly. Nobody would take a $200 million budget and have the sheer balls to even try this. Online 'critics' act like this was some creative fumble of misfire, when it would have been incredibly easy to just do Harley/Joker singing and dancing to a blood bath. It already exists, and it's called Natural Born Killers. This film was calculated, thought-through, and decided to dare to make an artistic statement on our obsession with serial killers. One of the most glaring examples of a film being objectively very good - acting is phenomenal, writing is mostly stellar, set design, art design, lighting, cinematography is all superb, but it's been hated simply for not being a film it never promised to be. And that, to me, makes it more of a 'Joker' film than the first ever was. (Despite me preferring the first, overall.) Best film released this year not called Dune 2, and time will favour that opinion. Before you guys jump down my throat and go 'RAH you're stupid'. I'm not. Fight Club, Blade Runner, The Thing. Just three examples of films that KZbin would have ran wild with back in the day had it existed, considered trash for years, now known as true greats. If you disagree - and I could see why you would, the first thing I said to my sister after watching was 'I loved it, but everyone else will hate it, and I know exactly why.' - don't jump at me right now. As said, I think opinion will shift over time. Come back to this comment in 5 years and see what the consensus is then.
