@Bonsees6 күн бұрын
Happy new year! I can’t really say much more about the viewfinder as it is 😅 if you really want precision, maybe an SLR film camera like the Minolta SRT 101 would be better for you since what you see in the viewfinder is what you’ll get as a frame

I have 2. I have learned to cover the flash with my finger. What I like the most is it leaves a little film sticking out when it rewinds so I don't have to fish it out when I develop. Batteries are not cheap but last a long time.

Whats the difference between 200 and 400 ?
@Bonsees20 күн бұрын
Higher ISO means higher sensitivity to light. To make it simple, generally speaking, you can use the 400 iso film in darker scenes than what the 200 can handle

The Olympus AF-1 is a cheap point and shoot camera but with decent image quality. It’s full-auto with no controls for anything (besides on/off), even the flash, which can be freeing for some. I personally prefer to have the option to turn the flash on/off though. The autofocus is pretty good

Should I buy this camera or the kodak h35? Love the video btw ❤
@Bonsees26 күн бұрын
Have you checked the H35N (updated H35)? One thing to think about is that the H35 has a wide angle lens (22mm) and this has a standard lens (50mm) so the frame is tighter Other than that, they are pretty similar~ The H35N has a lot more functionalities though (long exposures, built in star filter, etc) I made a few videos on it if you’re curious ☺️

I’d use 100-200 with this camera especially for sunny days (like Kodak Ektar and Gold) Cloudy days and low light, I’ll use 400 Hope this helps!

Hey! Is the rewind crank should be spinning while I turn transport wheel before taking a photo? I loaded a new film for the first time, and it doesn’t spinning, or doing this slightly? But this transport wheel is work normally I think (the numbers changes).
@Bonsees27 күн бұрын
It might start moving slightly but it will spin when you advance the film~ also, the film advance wheel will not lock and cock the shutter if the film didn’t take to the spool, so as long as the film advance wheel locks and cocks the shutter, you should be good 😊

Great video. I had a question about using the Pen FT with this flash... I can't get mine to work, I'm using the cable provided by Reflx Lab and can't get my flash to fire with my Pen FT. Do you have the PC sync set to M or X? Am I missing any steps? The PC Sync cable works great with all my other cameras!
@BonseesАй бұрын
Hey thanks! Mine fires when the PC sync is set to M but not on X. Does your Pen FT have batteries on? Otherwise, I’m not sure either, hopefully not a broken sync port 🙁

So.. iso 100 for daytime, outdoors. Iso 200 for nighttime and indoors / or really bright days .. right ?! 🤔 I haven't used yet. But I got 2 rolls ready to go. Just wondering how it would look with snow
@BonseesАй бұрын
I haven’t tried it with snow, but keep in mind that snow reflects light so light meters will want to dim it down and give you a reading that will look underexposed. Not sure what the actual number is but you probably want to add an exposure compensation of around +2 stops. If your camera doesn’t have exposure compensation, rate it at ISO 50 (or 25 even) and shoot as usual~ you generally want snow to look bright, not grey. Hope this helps!

Hey! Your ND fotos are amazing! I shoot iso 200 film on this camera and I noticed it does overexpose sunny scenes quite a bit. Given my iso should I buy ND2 or ND4 would work just as fine?
@BonseesАй бұрын
Hey thanks! Why not both? Hehe jk ND4 on ISO 200 might be too much since that’s 2 stops so it’ll be like you’re shooting with an ISO 50 film. But also, ask yourself whether you wanna stick to ISO 200 or switch to ISO 100 instead and not needing an ND
@AndyMironАй бұрын
@ sounds like a plan! Have you tried iso 100 with this camera? ISO 200 film is the best bang for the buck tho! Also I guess iso 100 would struggle when it’s darker hours.. I see this camera as a replacement for smartphone photography so I carry it on me at all times. So I’m looking for this perfect formula for every condition. I guess you’re right I need 1 stop for 200 and 2 stops for 800 (when I’m in a twilight zone) 😁

Congratulations on the review: so detailed. Then the vibe of the video is amazing. Yesterday I bought an Olympus i3000 Analogue Camera for only £10. I can't wait to try it. I am in England and it's Autumn which means that we have a lot of cloudy days and by 3.30pm it starts to be darker. Do you think I should use a 400 ISO?
@BonseesАй бұрын
Yeah, 400 or higher would be ideal. I find that Daylight balanced colour film on cloudy days don’t seem as great though (that’s just my opinion), so maybe experiment with using black and white or tungsten balanced film (like CineStill 800T) too 😄

How do i know if the pictures are actually being taken
@BonseesАй бұрын
You just have to trust the process 😅. Joking aside, you can’t really be 100% sure if you’re getting photos when shooting film. But you can increase your confidence by checking some things like if you can advance the film and it stops to cock the shutter, if you hear the shutter sound when you snap a photo, if you make sure to use the flash in low light situations, etc.
@Noname1001-nrtАй бұрын
I just bought Ektar H35 to get started with film photography.( My first ever camera) I am going to try it out soon. Should I buy film roll with iso 100 or 200 or 400 I am confused. If someone could advice, that would be helpful.
@BonseesАй бұрын
Congrats on your first film camera! Hope you enjoy To be brief, I’d use 100 or 200 for the Ektar H35. 100/200 for outdoors, 400 for low light situations. The number of the ISO corresponds to how light sensitive the film is, the higher, the more light sensitive it is. Look up “exposure triangle photography” if you want to learn more about this, but TLDR, usually you can control the exposure by either changing the shutter speed, aperture, or ISO/ASA. Since the Ektar H35 has a fixed shutter speed and aperture, you can only “control” the exposure by choosing the ISO (and using the flash, I guess). From my experience, 100 or 200 works best while 400 can start to look overexposed. Cheers!

Thanks for those reviews. Entertaining as always. ECN development is unfortunately not an option in Japan. Only one lab does it at a ridiculous price. 🥴 And the second film, you reviewed … I found the halation pretty strong. Wouldn’t be my cup of tea. Oh and my suggestions for upcoming reviews would be the Street Savvy from Flic Film and the Santa Cruz from Cinemotfilm. Have seen great results from both and would be curious to hear your opinion about them.
@BonseesАй бұрын
Dang, I didn’t know Japanese labs don’t really do ECN-2. To be fair, it wasn’t ever supposed to be a consumer thing 😅 I have two rolls of the street savvy film~ just waiting for a good sunny day to use it 🥲
