I kinda wished they made classic Sonic talk i have always hated him not talking why can classic Tails and Classic Eggman talk but not him anyway this game looks AWSOME i gotta pick it up simce i have never really played the OG gens also it's kinda ironic that Sonic gens was the best received Sonic game and it's remaster/Shadow gens beat it's also ironic that the currently best Sonic game is a Shadow game with a Sonic game packaged on the side. Pro Tip: When using Chaos Control, not only you're invincible, but it also refills the boost guage completely. So destroying enemies and Chaos Control item boxes is still very useful. Oh, and excellent review btw 👌🏾

I just couldn’t bring myself to play the Sonic part of the game. After Frontiers and Shadow Generations, I just don’t like the car controls anymore. I’ve been spoiled by better, more fluid controls.

One of the few games better than the mario version(aside from sonic 3 & knuckles and the sonic adventure trilogy, yes to me heroes is part of that)

The very fact that someone can make a statement like this without anyone batting an eye is a testament to just how good Shadow Gens turned out.

My only complaint with the rewrite is some of the voice actors sound washed at times.

When they innevitably do another remaster, if they want to rewrite the story to modernize it, they should put in the effort to change the cutscenes. Seriously, Ian is a great story teller, but I’d argue the limiations were just too much and Sonic Gens’ new story was arguably worse because of it.

Yeah for me it's not even close. This game stands far above every other sonic game since it's great all the way through and there's absolutely zero filler. It's all great. Shadows campaign added the perfect amount of content to make the whole thing the perfect package. Also the 2d in both campaigns is great. Definitely better then most people say it is

And a year later, I find a video that told me like 90 different things I didn’t know about it, AND get so many things correct that people usually misinterpret. Ima be real, as the *main* antagonist of TOTK, this Ganondorf is probably the most milk toast we’ve gotten. (Not counting TP, since zant was the main antagonist for the majority of it) Design is great and all, but it feels like everything we know about him is in a vacuum. There is no intrigue to his character, no subtlety to his approach. It makes him so evil, it’s boring. He’s a brute who wins through brute force because everyone is too stupid to realize he’s an obviously murderous psychopath. He does nothing so atrocious as to make the audience truly fear/despise him-partly his irrelevance. His attempts at trickery fail almost immediately and he spends the actual game with 30 something lines of dialogue and sitting in a tree while his minion, phantom ganon (despite being a literal incarnation of Ganondorf, is more like the Nazgûl from LOTR) gets the gorons hooked on crack, which is evil irl, but so god damn corny in game. Even at the end, the writers wrote themselves into a corner by using draconification as the excuse for the final boss spectacle, even though there was never any indication that Ganondorf knew about draconification. It’s just so amateurish for a proven team. BUT if Ganondorf was consumed or killed by phantom ganon, making some amalgam be the final boss, THAT would make for a terrifying villain. Sortof like the witch king from LOTR, now that I think about it.

Whilst i dont think he has anything on Windwaker Ganondorf or ocarina in terms of a well written character, its not like there is nothing there. Its just far more subtle and interesting than i think peiple are giving it credit for There are a lot of lines thst came across to me as more nuanced and i think nintendo was allowing people to kind of find the intrigue in this Ganondorf rather than writing a specific character I will say it could just be the vocal performancr carrying it in this regard... but the line 'thats what a king does' or something along those lines just before the final fight, that reallt perked me up a bit more and made me start questioning more about his motivation. Again kt could just be mercer adding more depth when kt was just meant to be a menancing line, but that performance made me start questioning if Ganondorf is doing this nit just for power for powers sake, but this percieved notion that he is compelled to conquour and seek power because in his mind thats what a King is He is undeniably a terrible person and evil and cruelly ambitious, but i dont know, that line made me start questioning that maybe from birth he was taught or learned that a king should be an all powerful conquerer who rules over everything and since he was destined to be king of the gerudo, if he doesnt achieve that, then he is not a true king Again it could just be the performancr, but that line made me think there was more to it

Mario 64 was the definitive 3d mario experience for decades, and is still excellent to this day. I do think odyssey has slightly surpassed it, but that's only because of the near-perfect movement and level design that evolved from what mario 64 laid the groundwork for. Its insane how great this 28 year old game still plays today. Sure it may not be as beginner-friendly but once you've started to master mario's movement it really feels excellent.
