Just took delivery of a 2024 Model 3 Performance and this popped up in my feed. Love seeing how much the software and feature set has improved on these cars just over the past few years since this was released. Really happy with the car.

I was an EV hater but recently bought a Porsche Taycan GTS and have become an overnight ev enthusiast. I picked up my car in Philly and road tripped it almost 900 miles home to Tenn. I learned quickly that most of what I thought was wrong. It does take a bit to trust the car’s charge plan and run it from 80 down to 10 to keep the charge rate up. While my Taycan does not have autopilot, I bought it to rip on the twisty roads in my local area. Performance is on par with the Tesla ( though the Plaid is slightly faster in a line) but handling is far superior. I don’t miss my 718 Cayman at all. I should say that I do still have a Jeep Trackhawk and my F250 so I still am firmly planted in ICE world.

I bought a used 2020 M3 with 25k miles on it in Feb 2002. Currently at 109,000 miles and a savings of at least $10k over that time for not paying for gas. That includes cost of charging and a new set of tires. Zero issues.

We have two Tesla Model 3s Long Range (a 2019 and a 2022). They're not the performance versions but they are fast enough to give newbies that Tesla smile. Right now you can get the Model 3 LR RWD for $34,990 with the federal discount of $7500 if you take the standard wheels, the standard color, etc. We charge at home with a 220 volt connection. Duke Energy charges us about 16 cents a kWh (that's with taxes and the other adders the throw in) and over the life of either car we get 4 miles per kWh. That's 4 cents a mile in electricity if you are charging at home. We have taken the 2022 on a 3400 mile trip from Indianapolis, through Minnesota, into Canada, over Lake Superior, out to Quebec, and back home through Detroit to home. We NEVER had range anxiety because the Tesla superchargers were there, even in the boonies of Canada. Our long distance strategy is to drive about 150 miles and then stop to charge so we can use the restrooms and get a bite to eat. That means we are charging when we are down to 20 or 30 percent. We charge to 80% but let it go longer if we are still eating. Normally that means 25-30 minutes. We don't follow Tesla's recommended stops because they are more frequent and take shorter time charging. We don't like the hassle of getting off the road and maneuvering around to the chargers. BTW, we are 82 and 83. My wife does more driving than me (I navigate, plan charging, and sleep). Her nickname now is Zoom-Zoom.

Boy oh boy are you ever late to the party. KZbin is filled with EV reviews, especially Teslas, so your 26;14 minutes of content adds nothing new, and you got a lot wrong. This should be a 6 minute vid, max. The real fun here is your Tesla-hating opinion morphing into admiration and appreciation for the engineering and performance of the Tesla. That, and your wife kinda getting her hair blown back. Range anxiety? I've road-tripped 3-5K miles in the Tesla. Absolutely beyond love it. Range anxiety isn't a thing. For the time being I DO pay attention to where the charger stops are, but the supercharger network is rapidly building out, AND destination chargers (often free!) are growing out at an exponential rate. it may be tricky for now compared to the ubiquity of gas stations, but this is fast changing. Finally, when you learn just how smart the Tesla's are with navigation and Full Self Driving, you will never be happy in any other car. I know this because I spent a week with a $140K Mercedes EQS, and beautiful though that car was, it was a dunce compared to my Tesla. Period.

you should start with looking at a chart for amps and wire speed vs maternal thickness and practice practice practice. I would also recommend getting solid core with 75/25 gas. its so much easier to use. don't just tack over and over. do like 2 3 or 4 spots then weld it.... like 1 inch or more spacing. practice first on something the same thickness. when practicing turn the heat up until its too hot then dial it back and don't be afraid to grind it until its almost gone then weld it again but turn the heat up more. ii have family thats in the welding field and thats where i started. the gas really really helps.

If you check the time of the video when you start accelerating it is about 9-10 seconds when you stop accelerating. The way these cars are geared I would assume you reach 60 either by revving out 2nd or shortly after hitting 3rd. If it were me, I'd check what 60 is via a navigation app, then clock the time manually. The app seems way off. 18 Seconds is what my 1.1 liter 1970 Opel Kadett could to 🙂 The specs are listed as 8.1 0-60 which is with a professional driver who doesn't care about the car. A "normal" person should be in the 9-10 second range I think. Great work, and great to see one of these brought back to life.

This car could be the best car ever made, but it will never be a Mustang, no matter how you badge it. The backlash could be avoided by just calling it something else. Stupid as it is, brands mean something to consumers. If I walk into a dealership and ask for a Mustang, I want the salesman to show me a badass two door performance car with aggressive and cool styling, a show-only back seat and a trunk that is there. I don't want a crossover. If I wanted a crossover, I would have asked for one. I want a *Mustang* . If you need a pony on the grille to signal to everyone else that "it's totes a real Mustang guys", then you don't have a real one. The actual Mustang is a car that anyone, car guy or not, recognizes instantly. It's iconic. It's not this.

@@fortheloveofcarz I had the 745i in 1999. It had lover compression than the non turbo models. I Finland they made turbo kits 400hp+ which included a thicker copper gasket. I don't remember the compression ratio. But are you just a little concerned not lowering the compression?;) What are the hp and pressure estimate? The 745i had 252hp and boost pressure about 1.2bar as i remember. I actually decoupled the wastegate. That was fun. It was very aggressive and blow the turbo. Standard it had 237hp on the rear wheels.
@mcdk724 ай бұрын
@@fortheloveofcarz The 745i had a compression ratio of 8.0. My source is a Danish car magazine from 1984. The non turbo M635CSI ratio 10.5. I can se the 3.3 (3.2) have same stroke as 745i but smaller bore. Compression ratio 8.8. My father had the 2500, 2800 and 3.0aut. A general problem was cracks in the engine head. I have no idea of strength of piston rods.
@Hosteggy4 ай бұрын
@@mcdk72 10.5 is fine for turbo builds no worries. I made over 15lb on a ls3 at 10.5 compression. Obviously different engines but in theory the same.
