Typical that all the hard-working farmers who are producing the food for everybody, are the ones that get their food taken away🙄 it’s challenging enough to make a living being a small farmer in the US. But at least we can eat, I can’t even imagine what it was(and is) like for those poor people.

The truth about the Tet Offensive that many Americans did not know about. According to one of the North Vietnamese General. The tunnels were built as far back during the French Indochina War. When US President Truman offer US military aids and support to the French troops against Ho Chi Minh Vietminh in 1950. General Vo Nguyen Giap and many of the North Vietnamese leader knew that someday they will have to fight against United States military for South Vietnam. So massive man made tunnels was built from North Vietnam going all the way to Saigon, South Vietnam. Over 200 miles tunnels constructed with massive manpower by the will of North Vietnamese peoples. The tunnels was finally completed on the day of the Tet offensive that happen on Jan 30, 1968 to March 28, 1968. 500,000 NVA troops went under the US military force and South Vietnamese military force at the 17th parallel DMZ line and attack all across South Vietnam. Which eventually led to the My Lai Masscre that happen on March 16, 1968 and the beginning of US military pull out out of Vietnam due to American peoples demand and Richard Nixon winning the Nov 5, 1968 US Presidential election.

Interesting commentary. It does however fail on two important issues. It doesn't explain why the Federation was formed in the first instance. Also, crucially, it doesn't acknowledge that Southern Rhodesia was never dependant on Britain and technically was always independent. All that was being asked was that this de facto status be given de jure recognition. Britain's later insistence that the UN apply economic sanctions against Rhodesia is as interesting as it was illegal. If, as the British government insisted, Rhodesia was a dependent colony they were asking the UN to apply sanctions against themselves! Secondly the UN charger only allows sanctions to be applied against Sovereign states. In so doing they technically accepted Rhodesia's status as independent. Secondly, the UN charter allows for both parties to present their case before the Council. This was not allowed to Rhodesia because Britain claimed to speak on their behalf, which further brings into question the legality of the action.

If a book were based on the real year of 1984, rather than George Orwell's dystopian vision, it would likely explore the world as it was at that time-a period marked by intense political tensions, technological advancements, cultural shifts, and historical milestones. Here’s how such a book might unfold: --- 1. Themes Cold War Tensions: The real 1984 was heavily influenced by the Cold War. The United States and the Soviet Union were in a nuclear arms race, and the threat of global annihilation loomed large. The book could explore espionage, propaganda, and ideological clashes between democracy and communism. Technological Beginnings: 1984 was a pivotal year for technology, with the launch of the Apple Macintosh computer. The book could delve into how early personal computers and digital technology began shaping society, foreshadowing the information age. Cultural Shifts: Music (e.g., Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna), movies (e.g., Ghostbusters, The Terminator), and the rise of MTV defined pop culture. The book might juxtapose the optimism and creativity of the time with the political and social undercurrents of anxiety. --- 2. Plot Ideas Espionage and Global Intrigue: A spy thriller could focus on a protagonist caught between the CIA and KGB in a high-stakes operation during the Cold War. Themes of loyalty, deception, and the ever-present threat of nuclear war could drive the narrative. The Birth of Big Tech: The story could follow a group of tech pioneers racing to develop a revolutionary device (inspired by the Apple Macintosh) while dealing with corporate rivalries and fears about how technology might reshape society. Cultural Exploration: A coming-of-age story set in 1984 could focus on a young person navigating the era’s music, fashion, and cultural revolutions while dealing with the backdrop of political tensions. Parallel Universes: The book could contrast the real 1984 with Orwell's vision, exploring what happens when someone from the real 1984 discovers Orwell’s novel and begins seeing parallels between the two worlds. --- 3. Real-World Events to Incorporate Political Events: Ronald Reagan’s presidency and his “Evil Empire” speech. The Soviet Union’s boycott of the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. The escalation of protests against apartheid in South Africa. Technological Milestones: The release of the Apple Macintosh and the iconic “1984” ad. The rise of video gaming and early computing. The beginnings of the Internet’s military and academic infrastructure. Cultural Touchstones: The explosion of pop culture icons, such as Michael Jackson’s Thriller and the dominance of MTV. The punk and new wave music movements alongside the rise of blockbuster cinema. --- 4. Possible Tone Optimistic Yet Tense: The book could capture the vibrant culture and technological breakthroughs while underscoring the fear of nuclear war and global conflict. Satirical: It could mock the exaggerations of Orwell’s 1984 by highlighting the absurdities and contradictions of real-world 1984 politics and culture. Reflective: A character might look back at 1984 from a modern perspective, reflecting on how the seeds of today’s world (e.g., surveillance, technology, globalism) were sown. --- Message The book could emphasize how the real year of 1984 was a turning point, filled with contradictions-a mix of fear and hope, global tensions and cultural revolutions. It might explore the idea that history, while less dramatic than Orwell’s dystopia, still lays the foundation for profound future changes. -ChatGPT

Can you imagine two to three million people wandering about in an area modern ramblers can cover in about three days for forty years and since then no evidence has been found at all, nothing, zilch! Now you’d think that that many people would have left something, the whole story smells a bit fishy to me. A small point some people seem to forget is the fact that there has been no evidence found in any Egyptian diggings that mentions the Israelites being in Egypt at all. The Egyptians kept fantastic records, the reason we know so much about them, but no mention of a whole race being kept as slaves, sorry it’s all a load of codswallop as is the complete bible!

There is no scholarly consensus on it being targeted, or man made. Provide a single source that proves this. You can’t you western propagandist. I am asking for evidence, you provided none with the citations you relied on and have made available. One of your citations even made refutations to his earlier argument on the matter being a genocide. I am happy to provide my evidence for this, yet no evidence can be found for it being intentional or targeting anyone. You are a moron posing as a historian.

5:57 the NATIONAL RESISTANCE ARMY wasn’t formed by supporters of Idi Amin. Rather they were part of a coalition of several resistance groups called the UNLF (Uganda National Liberation Front) that resisted Amin rule. They were initially called FRONASA (Front for National Salvation). After Amin’s overthrow, their leader & current President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni stood as a presidential candidate in the 1980 election under UPM (Uganda Patriotic Movement) that Obote won. Then after the NRA was formed that fought a guerilla war against the UNLA, win & deposed Obote. Since then, the NATIONAL RESISTANCE MOVEMENT has been the leading political party in Uganda

When Apartheid died, so did Rhodesia and black living standards. Mugabe was a self serving anarchist. Rhodesia went from being Africa's bread basket to now basket case. Uncle Bob stole our farm, so we took all our money, gems, gold and everything else worth a fortune and left for Australia where we were given citizenship before we even got to shore. We were 3rd generation Rhodesian. We would go back if Uncle Bob`s mates were gone and not in power, but they are still there, so our money is not going back there. If we got our farm back we could employ hundreds of people and create such wealth for the country and its people, but I think that wealth will now have to stay in Australia.

I was a 10 years young kid in the Soviet occupied Latvia. It was literally as in the Orwell's 1984. That was the most dangerous year of all the Cold war era. That was a short period of Andropov''s rule in the USSR. He was an uncompromising leader of the Soviets who never negotiated with the US presidency. The world literally was on the edge of nuclear war.
