Something I heard repeated as a theme in the many response videos to this incident is that we cannot forget what happened. It’s a year later and I would love an update to the issue. What has happened since? What is still being done? What questions are still left unanswered?

If it’ll eat dead animals, can’t you give it meat from the store? Or does it have to still look like an animal for the snake to want it?

I absolutely love that you avoided hostility or belittlement. I'm sure many of the people in this video did not make their arguments in good faith, but you never once took it that way, and I respect that greatly. Great video.

1,368 base pairs of DNA allow for 4.14 x 10^823 unique combinations. It takes 1,368 x 72 specific atoms to make a DNA sequence consisting of 1,368 base pairs. On planet Earth, there are only 10^50 atoms available to make DNA. It takes 72 atoms to make a single base pair of DNA. If all the atoms on planet EARTH were used for DNA, there could not be more than 1.39 x 10^48 base pairs of DNA. In the best case scenario for evolution, even if every single atom on planet earth were a unique sequence of DNA consisting of 1,368 base pairs, there could only exist 1 x 10^50 different sequences of this type.

Cougars arnt big cats? But snow leopards are, but their smaller than leopards and closer related to tigers, id also assume leopards mostly attack female gorillas or babies by surprise

Hello there! you can find worm lizards in South America as far as down here in Ururguay. They are fairly common in houses with a lot of green and large wildish backyards, every now and then you'll have to save one from a cat or help it find some shade before they cook up in the sun. They do look a lot like the cuban ones, pinkish with a slightly darker tone on top, about a feet long, although you can also find Amphisbaena kingii, which is kinda the same but with a funnier snout. Down here people call them "viborita ciega" (blind little viper), and nobody could ever imagine them being related to tegus (which we also have aplenty, and are called "lagarto overo", meaining spotted lizard).

Clint I love your videos. But this one had me scratching my head. The title sounds sad but doesn't explain what's going on. The description text also doesn't explain what's going on. I'm 5 minutes into the video and STILL don't know what's going on, except a bad thing happened in Florida. Please, for the love of all things reptile, don't bury the lead like this! I grew up in an age when people didn't have social media. We learned to have attention spans. Today's younger generations are probably gone 30 seconds into this video because they don't know what you're talking about. Maybe that's not fair. But really, I doubt any of them make it 5 whole minutes of scratching their head. Heck, even I didn't - my head got sore so I took a break to type this comment...

Google Bear/Ursidae and look at the phylogeny. All animals under Ursidae are, by definition, bears. A panda is a bear. And it is FAR closer in relation to a black bear than it is to a walrus... Not sure where you got this wildly wrong info that "Pandas Aren't Bears (They're Closer To Walruses)".

I recently have gotten the opportunity to get my hissing cockroachs but after holding them my hand and throat were itchy. Is there anything that can be done to prevent this allergy and is it still a good idea to keep them?

I don't know whether they'd be good for keeping with reptiles or amphibians, but I do know that spidergrass are lovely, easy plants. I have a lot of them. They can grow well in water or soil, and survive drought very well. They come in green or green and white. They like to pup, where they grow a thick stalk with little spidergrass pups attached, if you press those pups into damp soil or water they grow very well. You can also break them off and put them in water, but I find they grow better if they stay attached to the parent until they're established.

Coliiformes: *-formes means -shaped *Colii- comes from *Colius, which is the post-classical form of *Caulius. *Caulius, in its turn, means "like a sprout, like a cabbage" Are the mousebirds shaped, by any chance, like a small sprout, or a small cabbage? Edit: Furthermore, the first species described (in the 18th century) seems to shed its tail feathers rather easily, maybe as a defense mechanism - which reinforces the comparison with for instance a CAULI-flower detaching from its stalk.

Great video, as usual! ❤ I can't have cats. My husband is very allergic to cats. But not bunnies! As a pet, I've found they fill a similar-ish role to cats. They are a lot more work than cats, however. If you do the proper research, and can't get cats, I do recommend bunnies. They're very rewarding pets. Do try to get them a friend if you're able to. It's rare that rabbits do well on their own, since they're very social animals. 🥰 Edit: Something good to note is that, as prey animals, they will hide being sick very well. Pay attention to small details (suddenly changing nearly any behavior can indicate illness). Speed is key. The faster you get your rabbit to a vet, the better. Better you take your bunny in for a checkup for nothing to be wrong, verses catching something too late!

6:20 If the spectacled caiman is such a terrible pet, can we have an episode "Spectacled eider: Best spectacled pet?" Because the competition consists of a caiman, a cobra, a bear, a bat, langur, cormorant, ... . It's a somewhat polyphyletic clade but as a glasses-wearer it's my clade. Also: We can call the Gharial "The false false gharial"? Or split them between the Bactrian and the Dromedary gharials.

i don't think it matters how good your eyesight is in all cases. Did the Trex have the intelligence to recognize something that wasn't moving? You can look at a patch of dirt all day and not see a bug until it moves, or a tiger that blends into the jungle . Did Trexs brain have facial recognition like we do?
