I got 2 in the basement. International harvester chest freezer from 1952 and a fridge. Cane with my house still running til this day. I think I defrosted the freezer once in the 24 years that Ive been here. It doesnt build up bad at all. Seals are still good.

I just found your site (looking for a way to rejuvenate hardened rubber seal) and will subscribe! I found (for free) a beautiful 50's single door Kelvinator, which I cleaned and had a good "robin's egg" blue seal... I met a guy while out and about, we chatted and he was looking for a garage/beer fridge... I've got the one yer' looking for... ..his name was Kelvin (I kid you not) and the rest is history....

I need to finds the blue seal as well. Where did you find yours? TYI
@daryljackiedunnegan52876 күн бұрын
@@maggiemcgeelong3185 Hi, the blue seal was the original seal (still soft and pliable)... I don't think it's available in aftermarket seals...?

Back in the 60's, My parents had a GE (No shelves on the door) Refrigerator that looked like the refrigerator on the I Love Lucy Show. The Only thing it needed replacement for was the Cord. And a latch handle (Never got that). That refrigerator was still working even after my Dad passed in 1995. They might have aquired it the late 1950's. It last a Long time! They don't make them like they use to. 😊

I have a 62 and it is truly one of the coolest trailers I've ever seen. The kitchen is teal and everything is original. It's bigger than this but I don't remember the length. My plan was to fix it up but I ended up with a medical emergency that halted everything. So I know I should sell it...but like yours it's unlike any of the others. And much nicer than Airstream in my opinion. Thank you for sharing. It's incredible ❤

We have a ‘46 GE refrigerator that looks similar to the black and red one you show in this. It has been in my wife’s family since new. We use it in the garage for drinks and it keeps them very cold. Only thing it’s required is occasional cleaning of the condenser and oiling the condenser fan motor. I need to rewire it in the near future, have the shelves rechromed and strip the layer of brown paint off without damaging the original finish underneath, hopefully. Someone decided to repaint it at one point in its lifetime. Also need to determine the type of door seal to get to replace the foam seal my father in law applied to the door. Plan on keeping it running to pass on to the next generation.

I have a 1953 Philco (very similar to the model you showed in this video) and the model # ends with an "LH" - I've noticed that mine opens with a left hand swing, which most of all I've seen online all open with the hinges on the right side. How often were doors opening a certain direction?

New to vintage refrigerator's, just acquired a 1954 GE combo with the lazy Susan shelves that still runs but needs some work to get it back to being beautiful so thank you for the videos and I look forward to learning how to restore and take care of this awesome "vintage" machine from you. Cheers.

A classmate in high school had one. He and I were going to fly model airplanes, but first he had to deliver the afternoon newspapers. I rode on the back of a series 50 while he drove and tossed folded papers on Saint Simons Island in the late 1950's. Another classmate had one of those also. They were very cool, dependable, and probably economical to own. But I would never take one on an Atlanta highway. Probably would be illegal to do so anyway. Even major streets are not safe.

I've been looking for a seal for a chest freezer. Ge with accessories compartment on right side and temperature control on right front side. Am I gonna be able to find a new seal for that? Do they make universal ones that work? Searching it shows it's a 50s or 40s model but I don't know. Do they put model numbers on these ?
@jameskiesau7543Ай бұрын
Just listened to complete video now. Get the right caps on that rig and it will make a world of difference. You got '73-'87's . The correct ones are stainless chrome---much classier. Yea man ---has it's possibilities , good luck!!!!!

We had one of these growing up, it was yellow. We had our house from 1965 until 1993, and it was still working when we gave it away to a vintage collector. Our current GE fridge died after 10 years and we were told it was "a good run". No school like the Old School, I guess!

I’m restoring a Kelvinator CD-7-R refrigerator. Serial # 4779441 and need a door gasket. I believe the original part #1152006. Wondering if you have anything that would work?
@allenscott228Ай бұрын
Justin this was just the video I needed. Thank you!. The bottom corner on my '49 Westinghouse had a gap. I pinched a couple of rolls of electric tap in the top and pulled the bottom in with a ratchet strap. I wanted more control over the racking. It isn’t perfect, but the paracord or ¼ inch foam behind the "e" gasket might lift it up enough to seal.

I have a 47-51 model it sounds like according to your video. I am talking to someone about restoring the looks of it. The compressor turns on when we plug it in so we believe it works... any information on what the average cost to get it looking good would be amazing!
