Does the fake one use the same serialnumber layout as Gibson : Number 1 and 5 are year of built . Number 2 , 3 , 4 is the day of that year . Number 6,7,8 is the number of built that day . I bought my 2011 SG Heritage Cherry Bass brandnew , and yes .....the paintjob is 99 percent and that nitrocellulose paint needs regular cleaning but.......man that Gibson just plays and sounds 🥳💯🤪 .

I think the headline is a bit misleading... but after watching your video I understand you and I agree about this problem. People trying to fool other people by false marketing guitars should be severely punished. MiM's are great in my opinion. I have/have had several classic series and Vinteras over the years and they've been really great. I also have MIUs so I know the difference.

I mean you’ve got to love both! They’re both iconic and had a huge impact on music. I’ve owned a handful of examples of each, and I prefer the Gibson Les Paul. I think that they feel much nicer, they sound much better, and they look much better. I generally don’t like thick necks, but I found a les Paul classic, and it’s really doing it for me. I still love Strat guitars, and I think they’re iconic. I prefer super strats. I have a Charvel too, and that kind of serves as my fender now. (different but brighter than Les still)

The easiest way for me to tell was the fret wire. The fakes always have tarnished cheap fretwire. The real deal have nice polished quality fret wire. Also the fakes strings may not be centered with the center of the body.

#2 is my pick .its just something about the head on1 that looks generic...and the pickups are probably Epiphone...most chibsons are ALOT worse..the knobs sometimes do not align..I've even saw the bridge not aligned with the pickups but you GTA look close..hard to tell on tv or computer..in person 💯💪

You can tell it's the one on the right that's the real one. And you can simply tell just by looking at it because the frets on the one to the left the binding is not over top of the frets themselves the frets are actually laying on top of the binding but on the one to the right when you look at the fretboard you can see that the very ends of the fret are actually embedded in that plastic binding that's around the perimeter of the neck and that's one of the tails that's how you tell a Les Paul from a fake one.. as many other ways to tell but that is the easiest the threats will not be laying on top of the white plastic binding I'll actually be embedded in it

Is there a trick for bass guitar?

The problem with over-under wrapping is that when I come back to the next gig, if the other side by any chance passed through the loop and I don't see it, it makes knots (x times the loops) along the cable. I'd rather pay a new cable every year or two, than have to untie knots every gig for minutes on end sometime ;)

I would have liked to have seen the final product. The owner wanted lower action, and you did the shim so you could lower the action without adding more buzz. Were you able to lower the saddles and achieve the lower action without buzz?

I’ve heard that the box top from Count Chocula sounds way better than one from Lucky Charms. One from Kellogg’s Corn Flakes gives more of a vintage tone.

FYI .... You also need to test your plate voltage. Use a Bias calculator to find where your bias should be. Use a bias tool and adjust your bias as necessary.

What makes you think this is 'fake' and not just intebtionally modified? A lot of folks believe those 70's necks sound better. Or maybe it was just a neck replacement/repair. It isnt fake, its just a cheaper strat made a little less cheap.

In regard to the German Ibanez catalogue with prices in DM/Deutsche Mark, the price of an Ibanez Les Pauls was probably only 20-25% of a Gibson Les Paul in 1974. The US$ was expensive back then.
