SR4 is still miles ahead to the reboot though. In a 100% run in sr4 atm and i gotta say not only is it fun as hell but the story is as well. Just fucked up to know that its pretty unlikely that well see another sr game any time "soon"

8:17 Their Ghostbusters PS2 port is dogshit. It crashes constantly, has 40 to 50 second loads, three cutscenes are just FMVs of Wii footage, and it has a myriad of other technical issues.

What a horrid scam, the icing on the cake is the delisting of the original versions, forcing people to resort to legal piracy to get a decent version of the game that they can apply community fixes to. I was hoping that updates would help improve the game, but it seems like its rotton to the core.

While the textures etc.. is a massive problem, the bugs are actually just the game, I remember countless times falling through the map of every single ps2 game I ever owned. People have more reach than they did when these games came out, but I'm pretty sure those bugs existed before.

All they had to do was change the AI Output to generate its own version of the texture it had been given as a reference rather than try to improve the old textures. You sort textures into specific categories so that you can isolate them and treat them a bit differently. All of the signs should have been kept the same, nobody is going to expect a poster to be remade. the characters are what need to be remade, but the environments should have been easy AF for them. They basically ran the entire game through AI upscaler and published it as if that was going to work lol.

What I take away from modern Far Cry is that it condenses down the open levels from the original into isolated sections within an open world. It was something that seemed cool when a console's limitations were hindered but the fact they have since become more abundant in power this same approach has become more exhausting. I genuinely believe that if that same concept from yesteryear was expanded it would make for a truly exceptional experience.

I'm play God's Advocate & say I like the newer "Far Crys" from 3 to 6....."Far Cry 1 & 2" was a little boring to me....the story was too slow in my book but don't means it wasn't a classic..... 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Rockstar literally pooped all over the things that put them where they are at this very moment. I bought this but second hand for PS4 on a disc, and its just because of respect and ability to play this titles on a newer gen console, otherwise i have on my Steam acc the OGs. If i want them "prettier" i do mod them, and thats about it

Vigilatne missions aren’t that hard when you do em with the rhino or the police cheetah. With the cheetah you can pay n spray when the wanted goes up lol

This game is not for people who can't play strategically or need their hand held. Simple as. I'm currently playing through this game on Infamous difficulty. It's brutally unforgiving, but that's the point. The realism and the challenge factor. One common mistake people make when playing FC2 is using the roads. Travel by boat whenever possible. The waterways are much less patrolled. This is especially true on higher difficulties. Also, the bus system can usually get you fairly close to your current objective. Going on foot is safest and will net you alot of hidden diamonds. Stealth absolutely does work in this game but it's largely based on light level, cover, and LOS. The camo suit and silent makarov are your best friends.

100%, definitely a game that tries to grind you down. I enjoyed how challenging stealth was, no radar to keep track of anyone or other UI to help us out. It made it extremely rewarding sneaking into a base undetected, very tense too

Vigilante mission: There is a hidden "FBI Cheetah" on west island. You can recognise this car by having only one side mirror, easy to find, just google it. Have that car and start Vigilante mission. From now on, you got super fast car and you can repair it whenever you want. Vigilante mission becomes ultra easy. Hope this helps.

Far Cry Instincts + Instincts: Predator WERE Far Cry to me. Me and my friends spent hours in the map maker making our own multiplayer maps. I was disappointed with Far Cry 2 and to me it just went downhill from there.

It's not that game company don't know how to make serious games, it's just the audience for them is gone. PC players were serious gamers, the selection was limited. Everything is a multiplayer co-op battle royale because COUNTER-STRIKE took over the market. It has nothing to do with the failure of Fallout, or Metro, or FarCry, but with the rise of Overwatch and Siege and Fortnite. Once you play Spec Ops: The Line, what more do you want? Spec Ops: The Line 2? 3? 4? 5 DLC and BATTLE PASS? The multiplayer for that and Max Payne 3 was seen as such a farce. But Left 4 Dead was and IS still brining in constant players, keeps the servers open, and will sustain the companies longer than having to make the next sequel to their next game to their next paycheck. The serious games still exist, you just cannot expect every game coming out to be the next sleeper gem forever. Hades 2 is coming out for people like you, may you game forever!

I wouldn’t advise anyone to play this game. The degraded gun mechanic is a nightmare, always at the worst time. Then it’s just driving back and forth for ages around the same lookalike boring landscapes. And to add to it you have to keep curing yourself from malaria! Respawning outposts. Annoying map. The fire mechanic is cool though. This is an outrageous review. Far Cry 2 is terrible. It was rubbish then and even more shit now.

Man, I really wanted to love this game. The immersion was great, the setting unique, but the malaria and never-ending enemy encounters annoyed me too much to ever finish it.

I had times like that tbf, especially early on. Things did start to click a bit more in Act 2 though and the game was more managable. But yeah it definitely grinds you down and tests your patience

Malaria is a non issue, it just encourages you to go back and get more pills, side quests and encourages you to traverse back and forth. The instant respawn of guardposts though, that is a major issue, need to mod that out. Also the broken stealth is an issue too, even the ghilly suit doesnt help.

I feel like this game is a better Apocalypse Now homage than Spec Ops: The Line is, if only because the gameplay is actually engaging.

FC2 doesn't get enough love from people, it's an artistic statement as much as it is a commercial product. Can't say that about any of the subsequent sequels imo

I didn't mention it in the review, but Far Cry 2s lukewarm reception was a big factor in the development of FC3. Ubisoft wanted to make something with a broader appeal that focussed more on fun. Makes sense, but it's sad we've ended up with the same FC game over and over since then
