From certain point of view the expansion is more a "happy ending" than most realize. Though, with strings attached that need to lead to their conclusions. The ending that V makes a deal with Reed to get the chip out of his/her head. V gets to walk away into the crowd. Johnny still exists in the chip. While not outright stated, it is clear the "wall" is cracking. Songbird was really messed up by what she experienced on the other side of the wall and she was a top level netrunner. To be honest allowing Reed to have Songbird would be best chance of getting her treatment. The relic chip with Johnny on it could be used as a bargaining chip with Alt, whom is queen on the otherside of the wall, to keep the horrors on that side of the wall from coming through.

I have a proposal for an opposite to adam smasher and a game over scenario for a "good ending". The characters name is Theseus, another who has gone not just full borg, but experienced the full run of cyber psychosis and recovered. Develping an extremely aggressive cancer, he had been forced to replace himself, piece by piece, until only his brain and spinal column remain. Needing to change his blood like a car changes oil, and feed himself on both power sources, and nutri-packs, enriched nutrients that can be safely delivered straight into his circulatory system to prevent malnutrition. He spends his days amongst his followers. They collect donations from all over night city like beggars. Every credit goes to preserving their "temple". Buying food to feed themselves and stock a soup kitchen for the poor. He has very strict views on violence. Usually standing between the meek and the aggressive with brutal outcomes. With Theseus and Smasher inevitably fighting, though, to a draw, with both heavily damaged and mangled. Though Smasher has friends in high places for proper medi-vac, Theseus has his followers and faithful brothers and sisters to drag him home. He is meant to be a final boss loss condition. Where if the player loses their final battle, they can choose to stay with Theseus and help rescue those in night city from their cyber psychosis, or spread kindness and charity in a world of cruelty and betrayal. He is not Adam Smasher. He is the mirror. A reflection of what the indomitable spirit of man is capable of, when a man with nothing to live for finds purpose.

My (don't fear) the reaper/sun ending was pretty happy ngl at first I thought it was kinda upsetting panam was dipping out but then she told me I gotta show this city what I'm made of prove to them I'm a legend if not them then myself then jumped into one of the biggest gigs ever😂 on top of that everyone that called me in the end was smiling and ecstatic complete opposite of what there like if you don't survive (don't fear) the reaper they're all Hella depressed because arasaka wrote it off as a suicide when in reality v was just trynna do it all without getting them hurt😮‍💨

Even if he got resurrected like that, Johnny Silverhand is not the type to quietly settle down.

Honestly V could live if he used his brain just a little. He has the schematics to the biochip. Make another, then use soul killer to transfer his current mind to the new chip, have victor switch chips, let the new chip override and transform the courpse into a perfect host like it was designed to do. Then he could use all the resources he got from the raid to make synthetic bodies and chips for jonny, alt, and Jackie.

If my play through is canon, there will be a really awkward scene after that two Johnnys will either try to kill eachother, or will have sex with each other. There is literally no middle ground - it's Johnny.

I mean if they could somehow take out the chip and put it inside of this hypothetical clone body of Johnny, that absolutely would've been better. And even more than that, I'm surprised we didn't get something like that for Jackie and just kept it on our person until the end and had to choose in a mock tense situation where we destroy Jackie's neural chip or Johnny's or risk getting shot in the head and probably dying. Only for that situation yo rectify itself when someone comes and saves V at the last second or something. There's definitely a Lot of ways to plot that out. Especially given that Cyberpunk is in a way, basically like a advanced imagination of the modern day USA in a crime ridden megacity of sorts - Night City. But with a DnD tabletop original style so like a DM/GM a situation like that could still get V pushed off a building or something but not outright die and maybe even recover enough to finish the game in the regular playthrough and the Phantom Liberty DLC. And everyone and everything is plugged in on some level even small children at times. So its not crazy to imagine V could possibly set up something like a ruthless gang or rival merc band or anything else like Corpo competitors to attack a location and save them after being seemingly forced to save what was left of their friend and to keep their current mental co-pilot rockstar around too for this video's possible end. And it would've been cooler if that was something added into the game as an unexpected option as well.
