This is a useful video for using correctly any watercolour pencils!

I bought some more inktense pencils today. I'm slowly building up my collection. I've not used them yet but I have made the mistake with watercolour of not letting an area dry before adding a new colour. A mistake I'll be aware of while using inktense. Thanks for the tips :)

Nice! Yeah, it is just like watercolour in that respect, really worth being that extra little bit patient 😊

Your work and books that are all hand done is a great inspiration. All the nice hand writing to describe the nature you have captured with artistic beauty. These books are priceless. I so love your work. Thank you for sharing.

I love inktense but have made all of these errors to varying degrees. Excited to try them again with some new knowledge! Thank you!

Good luck with your further Inktense explorations 😊

I’ve never heard of these style of pencils. I’m not great with watercolor but there seem like an extremely appealing middle ground between watercolor and something like markers, which I prefer. I love that you can layer without the colors reworking.

They definitely are, they suit me much better than watercolour. Might be worth a try for you 😊

I've definitely overloaded and given up because I don't like the intense colours (I know they are called inktense for a reason! Thanks for the useful video.

You're welcome - they can be made very soft and subtle when you know how 😊

I think I have made each of those mistakes, but no more… yes I would like to learn more, please let me know when you have any new U-tube videos.

Wax bloom when using the pencils for final details…there’s a shine like with colored pencils and it doesn’t look right. How to avoid that issue?
@AlexBoonArt10 ай бұрын
Hmm, well I never use them without water as I don't really think that is what they are intended for. If I were to add final details in a pencil, I would probably opt to do it in Procolour or another dry wax coloured pencil 😊

which waterbrush do you recommend ?

I prefer the Arteza ones but watch this space as next month's planned video is all about water brushes 😃

I would rather not call them mistakes but different effects. For the next artist it might be exactly what makes the work interesting instead of "having it done right".
@komarpalomaАй бұрын
And looking at your results I would say that I definitely would not call the last shell better than the others, but YOU are the artist and you decide what works best for your work. I hope you understand where I wanna go with this ;-0

Yeah, I just called it that to catch the algorithm and try and get clicks, you're right. But don't worry, I'm not making this type of content any more and pivoting my channel back to my comfort zone of vlogging. So you won't see this kind of thing from me again anyway 🙂

You must be quite wealthy. Good for you but what colours do you reccomend for those on a limited income?

Haha, I wish! I got my big box from a grant after winning an art bursary 😅 There's another video on my channel that breaks down a recommended 12 and 24 set. You can also find a list in the recommended materials part of my website alexboonart.com . Hope that helps!
