I am leaving a DV narc situation right now. With nothing but what I can carry & I’m very chronically ill at 59. I’m breaking free but scared. Please pray for me and my adult children, one of which is dependent on me for everything due severe illness. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

I hope both of you feel better. I removed him from my life, and I feel so much better, lighter, and I’m excited about my life and making plans that align with my dream life. It got better when I stopped trying to fight the grief and detachment that comes with releasing him and choosing me and my peace and happiness. You deserve a harmonious life and it’s possible. Sending yall love 🤍

I struggle with this because i think I have taken on the narcissistic traits from my mum. I now have a daughter and I really want to make sure I'm not like this with her, but it's almost instilled in me. I do want to be better though and so maybe that's a good start

whoever is reading this please know that you are loved. Being abused and mistreated doesn't erase the possibility of an enchanted relationship. You are NOT broken. you are NOT damaged goods. YOU STILL DESERVE LOVE AND RESPECT NO MATTER WHAT WAS SAID OR DONE TO YOU.

I've been working on replacing should with "could" and it's definitely helped! When I rethink the thought with could, it reminds me that I get to decide for myself what I choose to do. It takes the pressure off of me ☺️

kath hi, can you read these affirmations and let me now if they feel like they would be helpful for you, and something you could read daily to help: "I release the need to rescue others, understanding that it drains my emotional energy and hinders their personal growth." "I am worthy of a balanced and fulfilling life, and constantly rescuing others is not a sustainable or healthy path for me." "I acknowledge that being a rescuer often leads to feelings of rejection and being unappreciated. I choose to prioritize my own well-being." "I let go of the belief that my value is solely determined by how much I do for others. I am valuable simply for being myself." "I am not responsible for fixing everyone's problems. I trust in their ability to handle their challenges and learn from their experiences." "Setting boundaries is an act of self-love. I am determined to set and enforce healthy boundaries to protect my emotional well-being." "I release the need for external validation through constant rescuing. My worth is not defined by how much I do for others." "I am deserving of time for self-care and personal growth. Constantly rescuing others takes away from my own needs and aspirations." "I choose to break free from the rescuer role, knowing that it fosters dependence and hinders the development of personal responsibility." "I am empowered to create balanced and authentic relationships. This begins by letting go of the rescuer role and embracing healthy interdependence." "I take time each day to tune into my own needs and feelings." "I allow others to have their own experiences and learn their own lessons." "I forgive myself for overextending myself or neglecting my needs in the past." "I release any guilt associated with focusing on my wellbeing." "I trust in my ability to create reciprocal, balanced relationships." "I act from a place of wholeness and self-love, not from a place of lack or deficiency." "I value my needs and priorities as much as I value others'." "My energy and time are precious resources that I can allocate as I choose." "I am open to receiving love, care and support from others."

Do you conduct therapy with the victims of narcissistic relationships only. Or do you also provide therapy for the individuals whom have been diagnosed with these traits. If so, what are some type of goals or boundaries you teach folks with these narcissistic tendencies. If change is difficult then is are the goals more identification of hurtful behavior. Thanks for your deep dive into this subject I find your content so very interesting.

Great question! I only work with survivors of narcissistic abuse, not the narcissist themselves (because of the reasons in this video). There are professionals that specialize in personality disorders, but I say “no thank you” to that!

We’re most narcissistic adults abused or neglected as children?
@rebeccajohnsonlmhc
@rebeccajohnsonlmhc Жыл бұрын
Great question! Yes, in my experience and if we look at research, most individuals with NPD have experienced trauma - or - they were that very “special” child who was placed on a pedestal and could do no wrong.

What are some signs that a client is ready to distance themself from a narcissistic parent?
@rebeccajohnsonlmhc
@rebeccajohnsonlmhc Жыл бұрын
I think that if you have tried to establish boundaries with the narcissistic parent and they continue to violate those boundaries it may be time to distance yourself from them. It certainly becomes more complicated if you are a caregiver to them. If physical distance isn't feasible, then creating emotional distance - or emotionally detaching in a healthy way - is necessary.
