Dry beans and green stems seem to be a theme this year. Glad to hear that the plants are loaded.

This year seems to be an oddball with regard to beans, too dry, more greens than usual...Good luck with the bugger badgers, would be fun to spend a few nights out there popping them off.

Being too dry wasn’t a problem here this fall, more of is it good enough to keep situation here.

Try an Inversion Table for your back. Worked miracles for mine. Works by decompressing the vertebra which is one problem and this pressure release helps to relax the supporting muscle who are tense from trying to compensate for the compressed vertebra.

Started feeding cows today. ❄️❄️❄️❄️ showed up. Got a couple inches. Supposed to warm up, but a gentle reminder winter is coming. Got combining wrapped up Tuesday but there’s still a bit of crop out up here yet. Some guys around here vary from 50% to 85% done, a few finished like us that don’t combine much.

Is 20 bushels per acre average in your area?
@farming4g25 күн бұрын
For this type field... the low areas harvested pushed it to 30. 30 to 35 might be average around here, have had as low as 5 bpa in drought and 60 bpa in good years, soil pending.

Looks like its time to invest in a welder. You really dont get the heat out of those 110 jobs. At the price of those rims you could pay for a welder.
@farming4gАй бұрын
Have 2 welders. Ended up doing the same thing as we did with the other rim - drill a hole at the end of the crack on both sides to stop the cracking, grind it down, filler up with weld

A buddy of mine has trouble with cracked rims on his jd9600
@d6joeАй бұрын
Put a tube in! On my old Deere 9600 combine I put new tires on 10 years ago. Tire guy thought I was nuts to put tubes in new tires. 9600 has a reputation for cracking rims.
@farming4gАй бұрын
The air leak isn't the problem... it's the rim integrity. Has to be welded or replaced someday.
@staceyellis9193Ай бұрын
Hi Brooks . Do you have any worry with the flax blowing in the wind after it has been swathed and before combined ?
@farming4gАй бұрын
Oh yea... definitely have to pick a good week to swath it. Take a look at this video from a few years ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYvRlYqOgKuKY9Esi=mTkTz93VHFbykweV&t=656 Freak storm popped up out of nowhere.
@pc5569Ай бұрын
The first time you had cracked rims I thought that was odd. Now I'm perplexed as to a material issue or forming issue. Either way those things shouldn't be cracking like that. If it were me I'd try to weld those before I bought new ones. Good luck.
@farming4gАй бұрын
Yep, ended up welding it for now... did the same as the other rim - drill a hole at the end of the crack on both sides, grind it down, filler up with weld. Still probably will buy another rim sometime, not sure how long it will last. These rims are common for cracking around the hub area by the bolts, but I'm the same as you - perplexed 🤣
@redbaron278Ай бұрын
That seems to be a big problem with those combines where I live.
@farming4gАй бұрын
As in cracking around the center of the hub or similar to this rim? It's quite common for these rims to crack at the bolts, think John Deere is the same way.
@redbaron278Ай бұрын
@@farming4g haven’t heard of many deeres with this problem. But I think the newholland ones are cracking around the lug nuts.

Yea I noticed on my auger I bought last year... still some quality control issues. One of those eyebolts that tightens the cables snapped on me when I was loosening it to redo the cables. On both augers all those steel cables seem CHEAP; for some reason on don't ever recall ever having sharp shards on the cables on the old MK100 that we sold several years ago. Might be the last Westfield/AGI product I will ever buy at this point... sad really they made good solid augers for many years.

What a beautiful crop!!
@John-nc4blАй бұрын
If corn silage, potatoes, sugar beet etc can be dumped into a truck while the harvester keeps going, there is no reason why wheat cant be dumped into a semi while the combine continues to harvest the wheat. By eliminating the tractor and cart it means less augering of the grain which means less fines in the grain, less diesel used, less wear on machinery, less manpower required, less soil compaction of the soil since a tractor and cart dont have to drive back and forth between the combine and truck. This will mean higher profits.
@farming4gАй бұрын
Most normal years only places where I see compaction in fields is around wet spots from planting or spraying, and where the loaded trucks drove. We tend to leave a lot of stubble behind and our trucks don't have a lot of clearance... don't need debris and straw to get caught and cause problems. Plus we use the grain cart scale for weights to figure yield... between 3 of us here is how we keep track of how much grain we have. So much easier dumping into a cart, especially with windy days.
