I see you are fishing open water, do you favour open water for big roach, its looks a decent sized pit, out of interest what distance was you fishing at and was it a feature gravel bar etc ?
@ANGLINGADVENTURES-HD6 ай бұрын
Hello mate, thanks for watching the video 👍🏼 It was a fair bit of trial and error.. After a few blanks and not seeing a lot as a rule, I then noticed a few roach rolling at around 50 yards out on a flat calm at last light. My next session I had a lead about to where I see these roach showing the previous evening, and feature wise the weren’t a lot out there at all. I decided to bait this area, probably about the size of a snooker table.. Started off with about half a dozen spombs of maggot, caster and hemp, and sort of sat on it with the occasional recast with the feeder to introduce a little more bait fishing over light silt. The feeding window was usually about an hour before dark up to an hour into dark as a rule when I actually caught. Some sessions resulted in all three rods going at the same time when they were really having it.. Low pressure was usually a good time to fish it. I did have the odd session when the water was coloured due to flooding where I was getting steady bites throughout the day.. Hope this helps, tight lines 👍🏼

Fantastic video mate, and amazing fish, subbed straight away. It’s good to see a specialist angler amongst all the carp stuff on here. I came back to carp fishing a year or so ago, after more than 20 years away and couldn’t believe how much things have changed! Every fish has a name and waters packed with anglers chasing numbers :( I’ve changed my fishing and concentrating on anything but carp, just want to catch decent sized and unknown fish. Look forward to seeing more from you.

Many many thanks for subscribing 🙏🏼🙏🏼 I love fishing for different species and try to achieve new pb’s or specimen sized fish. I love the mystery in targeting certain species on different waters and when the effort is rewarded it makes it all worthwhile.. It’s not been easy with the goings on in the last couple of years, but have enjoyed getting out when I can to try and put some footage together.. One of my friends I fish with on my other videos (Michael Sparkes) had been fishing for carp for years, and he pretty much said the same as you.. He didn’t enjoy it and had a few years off fishing for other sort with myself. However, myself personally had never targeted carp up until a couple of year ago, and was very new to me, and after a lot of persuasion by Michael I decided to have a little go🙈 I must say I found it very different to what I’m used to. Very busy, very clicky, and secretive.. But as it was new to me I did enjoy it to a certain extent, I kept myself to myself and hit the ground running.. It’s not the carp I didn’t like, but the scene, if you get what I mean? I much prefer the multi species if I’m honest.. I’m really glad you liked the video and hopefully in the near future I will be adding some more.. Many thanks Dave 🙏🏼

@@ANGLINGADVENTURES-HD I know exactly what you mean, carp are great fish, get big and fight hard but they’ve turned into a commodity, so grown to unnatural sizes and over stocked. That in turn has attracted a certain type of angler, who mostly seem to have never fished for anything else. Saw a video about a guy that had caught 100 fish over 30lbs in a year and they were pretty much all force fed stock fish from commercial waters. That’s just not real fishing! A 30 used to be a fish of dreams locally but now they are common place, so catching one isn’t really much of an achievement. It’s funny, it’s videos like yours and those from a couple of others that made me realise why I’d gone off fishing again recently, it’s not the fishing, it’s the scene surrounding it, and the relative ease carp are to target these days. Those 2lb roach you caught are way more of an achievement than a 30lb carp today! Anyway, enough ranting! lol Looking forward to trying for more species and your videos will be a big help and inspiration 👍🏻

I can so relate to your your comments, and it’s feedback like yours that inspire me to do more videos.. You do get the odd bit of negative feedback off some viewers, but luckily I can count them on one hand.. If I can please and inspire one person I feel it’s worth doing.. I have a few ideas for the future, some are realistic and some are not.. But I will continue to put the effort in.. There’s definitely a lot of luck involved, but right place, right venue and right time, you just never know 🤞🏼 Thanks again for your encouraging comments 🙏🏼
