Chew Valley Pike "Where Dreams Come Chew"

In the latest episode of "Angling Adventures" Me and Michael target Pike at the famous Chew Valley Reservoir.
Chew Valley has been very kind to me over the last 5 years, managing 3 fish over the magical 30lb mark, and 3 upper 20's..
Can either me or Michael add to it?
I guess you will just have to watch and find out😉
This video was a major challenge due to the 500 mile round trip, but we managed to get amongst some pike.

Well done. I know exactly how you feel. I fish chew regularly fly fishing for trout, but against all odds, on 26 October I took a 35 lb Pike whilst fly fishing and using only a 9 lb leader. Yes. It was a fluke, because it was lip hooked otherwise It wouldn’t have lasted more than a minute or two. It will be pictured in the next issue of Trout & Salmon.

Would I be able to fly fish from the shore for pike on chew. I’m just looking at the website now. I only fish Exeter canal for pike on fly.

@@Nikonp-hg6yl I’m not 100% sure on how it works if I’m honest, I just apply for tickets for the pike trials when they are available.. I do believe they have a predator season ticket aimed towards the fly angler.. I’m sure there is someone out there who could offer you more help than myself, so I’m sorry I’m not much use.. However I have spoken to fly anglers who have caught and witnessed massive pike being caught from the bank👍🏼

Really enjoyed this video Nathan. Having fished Chew once before, the anticipation everytime the drop off falls. Your face says it all with your PB and I could see you shaking, just a pleasure to see a fish like that and I know what it feels like :)

What a monster!! Just stumbled across the channel. Great video work as well. All you fishermen nowadays seem to have to be cameramen as well which must take some planning and messing around just to share it with us. Many thanks for taking the time and effort to show us stunning fish like that!

Thanks for the kind comments Matt, it is a chore sometimes to do the filming and get some decent footage, don’t do it all the time as it is nice to just enjoy the fishing. The footage of this video was filmed on my iPhone as my video camera I usually use fell over and broke.. Phones are amazing these days and really good quality.. It's open for anyone to fish. There were still some tickets available when we were there and that was 10 months after they went on sale so not difficult to buy.
