So…. An ‘oracle’ is a far better DM than myself since 1986/‘87. Right. Duly noted. Damn. 😕 …. I’m done, then. iPad games, here I come. Really depressing but better to know now! Very much better to know to not waste anyone’s time at a table ever ever, ever again! Heh! Heheh….heh….meh.. 🤷♂️😕
@machfront7 сағат бұрын
Wow! Again! You’re being far more detailed in a solo game than I ever have been in my life in a group game….since 1986…. Which now makes me feel like the absolute worst DM that’s ever existed ever… sheesh… 😕 I guess I’d best stop and retreat into computer games, cuz I now feel super unworthy! Heh heh…..heh…. Ugh…. 😕
@machfront2 күн бұрын
I’m really ashamed of myself. Again, you’re doing tons more work with a solo game than I ever have with group games for literally decades now. Sheesh. 😕
@machfront3 күн бұрын
I’ll be brutally honest: you do a ton more work/set-up/prep for solo than I’ve ever done for a group since 1986!…. 🤷♂️😕 I once ran Tunnels & Trolls campaign for over four years (2006-2010 or so). I have a single piece of paper with random stuff scratched on it…probably only around about a dozen things….from more than four years! That’s how lazy I am! Hm. 😕

What do you normally do when you get two of the same (or three of the same with the slider die)? Uncertain?
@mattjackson5 күн бұрын
Yes, I will typically call it an ambiguous result. I will very quickly decide if I’m going to roll again or just assume that it is an ambiguous result and move on.
@Vidargavia4 күн бұрын
@@mattjackson i mean, if you want a straight 50-50 answer with no ambiguity you can roll one d6 instead - evens yes odds no. This Oracle is best when complex answers are required.
@machfront6 күн бұрын
Interesting that you acknowledge that most characters are only going to have one ability/attribute that counts at all. The wonderful OSR game Pits & Perils has this built in. Instead of rolling numbers for each, you roll for an attribute, period (if you’re extremely lucky, two). Great system that bypasses all this… so your PC is just Strong or Wise…. Heheh. Clever stuff. I think ya might dig Pits & Perils, actually. Much of the game system takes other, similar ‘shortcuts’ to fun. (I, myself still like ability checks, because I enjoy a smart fighter and a beefy fighter and a charismatic fighter…..and an urban-raised fighter and a rural fighter (after they’ve scratched out super short and simple backgrounds)…and how all that affects the game and them….)

I’m very glad I visited! Someone on the RISUS MeWe page pointed to your blog the other day. I spent an hour or more there and then…here I am. Heh I’m a WB:FMAG kinda guy too (and RISUS, and anything else that’s rule-lite). Recently found extreme love for the original Fighting Fantasy Introductory RPG, and that an outstanding clone was recently made that expands it but not to the level of the original nor recent Advanced FF RPG, keeping the spirit and lite rules (yay!)….Spellzard! I highly recommend it. Fun and cool and quick and easy stuff! Look forward to catching up and watching more! Cheers, man!

A little confused about those tables you printed off. Are those in the printed book? Or are those only in the pdf copy on drivethru? Or do you have to buy something extra to get those? Thanks

The booklet at 2:28? That is included with the pdf purchase on DrivethruRPG.

I really like your oracle! Is there any written rules for it somewhere?
@Bisclas2 ай бұрын
This is excellent, the only thing you forgot or maybe it was on purpose a troll has 6 hit die, that means you roll 6d6 for its hp AND it gets +6 on its attack roles, so every time it attacks it rolls 1d20+6. Trolls are not something you wanna be Fighting at lvl 1 hahaha xD . For anyone who doesn't know and reads this, a HIT die on old school TTRPGs mean 3 things, first its how many D6 you roll to know the creature's HP, second is its Bonus to attack rolls, third is the creature Lvl, so those Trolls were considered lvl 6 Creatures, so People....just Run away from them at lvl 1 xD
@jonathana62982 ай бұрын
I like the numbers. If you think something is more or less likely, you can add or subtract from the result (decided before you roll). I’ve been using +5/-5.

Old adventure comes to a screeching halt for about 10 minutes while I sharpen two or three pencils and mess around. And waffling is kind of a required thing now.😅 Your Oracle is very cool too I may just have to steal that!
