These guys are just average drummers playing drummer karaoke. Can they play with a band? If you’re auditioning for a band, you submit a performance video showing you can play with a band.
@speakerdave4 сағат бұрын
I’ve heard if you submitted an audition just playing along to Primus and not showing you can play with a band, you’re out. Anyone that caliber can learn Primus, but they need someone who can play with a band. They have thousands of submissions, and are giving no more than 30 seconds to a submission video. Unaccompanied submissions is a way to quickly exclude someone.

Not at all. I’m well aware of this, but I made a copy & paste error during editing. I’ve been trying to figure out how to correct the error without pulling the video down. I’m embarrassed to say that I don’t know exactly how to leave a pinned correction at the top of the comments.

Just bought same one. Gonna swap out pickups and already have some Duncan quarter pounders for it. Great pickups! 5 string is my favorite but don't use 10" speakers anymore. I have a GK 2×12" 800w combo amp that is awesome! Doesn't distort at high volumes like alot of 10" speakers do when playing low B string.

This is interesting… I've had a number of copyright _claims_ on my channel when I've done covers, but never any copyright strikes. Since I'm not above the magic threshold to start monetizing my videos yet, I haven't worried about it. I think it helps going in knowing that if you're doing something copyrighted, you're not going to be able to monetize it. Still, there are two *major* issues with how KZbin handles this. (Well, more than two, but these are the two I'll focus on.) First, there's basically no consideration whatsoever of *fair use.* You absolutely should be able to use at least up to a 7-second clip of a published recording and be able to claim fair use since it's for educational purposes. Second, and I'd say this is at least 1/3 of the time when I get a copyright claim, I know for a fact that the entity claiming copyright _does not own the rights to the song._ A lot of times it's some random obscure artist who covered the song. Put it this way: when I cover a song, I *know* who wrote it, and usually I know what record label should be enforcing their copyright. A ton of these copyright claims are bogus.

Rick Beato has spoken on his channel about fair use and copyright infringement problems. He might have a video that will give hints on how to get around it. Most of the time it is the labels that push the issue.
@progrockjock10 сағат бұрын
Who's Rick Beato?? 😜 Seriously, it's a super annoying problem. The more of us who speak up about this, the better. The thing that irritated me is that the entity making the copyright claim had no affiliation to Primus, Interscope Records or even Josh Steffen. It was just some odd entity that played disco music.

Cool Vid. Horns are for slap only .... they only add "buzz n fuzz" on overdrive and can sound synthetic other times. also need to take your snare drum out of the room when you record bass ...it was rather bothersome
@progrockjock11 сағат бұрын
Ha! As for the snare in the room, in the following video when I played the SVT2 and tc Electronic head-to-head (no pun intended), I apologized for it and removed it. I've gotten used to hearing it in the room but it bothered me too when I was editing. You just reminded me to relocate it to another room all together. Anyway, thanks for your points about the horns. I never looked at it that way.

Damn dude. Where have you been? Music Man Stingrayscare not cheap. Average price for a Fender P or PJ is what on the high end 2 grand? A Music Man Stingray on the low end with the single H is what? 1800??? Double H what? 2500 plus? On bass I do like a lot of selection for sounds. But honestly the Stingrays have a lot of actual History with Leo Fender. It is a more perfected design from an actual Fender bass. Leo Fender was a silent partner due to a non competition clause. And get this. Sterling Ball or Ernie's son had a hand in it too. When Music Man was going broke Ernie Ball bought the company. I am really impressed with my SBMM basses. I can really coax a lot of firt on my HH models. I actually like stingrays over Fenders because 1. I like to play closer to the nut because of the thicker sound. And can play more like guitar and kill the E and even A string hum with my thumb playing with a pick. 2. A lotyle lighter than a Fender PJ. 3.??? The 3 and 1 headstock? Really not tok sure about that. But what I do know is even with old strings either flatwound or roundwound there is a lot more sustain and or ring when I want it fretted. Take it what you will but you want an A to ring on the fifth fret E string to hit and slide fown to end a Stringray has never let me down. My Fenders I have to end on an open A and then an A on the on the E string and slide down. I can not be the only one that has notived this. Or maybe I maybe one of the few that thinks the end is as dramatic as the intro. Hell if the song is in the key of E then on bass for effect I will hit the E on the twelfth fret and slide down and kill it.

This guy is right. There's tons of new basses out there that sound and play fabulously, and the crafting is incredible, if you compare with axes sold in the seventies or earlier. Look at Yamaha, Sire, Ibanez, Jackson, etc

Thanks for the video and glad to know your musical journey is happy with the nice Hagstrom ... BUT I too was a Rickenbacker lover who stirred away from it because of Dave and Talkbass lots of love-to-hate with the rick. But if you listen and read it all you find the following bottomline: it's not a bad bass, it's different. And the bad reputation mostly comes from the 70s and old problems. Dave likes Fender Precision, good for him! Modern Ricks are better build. It's still an industrial instrument, you can mod it and adjust it to your liking after purchase as with any other bass. The cost is not astronomical comparing to other US made guitars, including a case. And the money goes to nice materials, correctly paid workers and good business ethic. And under the hood they keep improving. The old bridge and dual trussrod? Mostly no need to touch it as much as a Fender, intonates fine and the rods are two normal ones, not the famed 60s one. Oh, and the bridge has changed and the trussrod is single now. Trouble with the mute and the pickup cover? They're fun, and people forget that we had to mod the Fenders too to deal with shield and bridge-mute covers. Leo Fender just unadvertedly made it easier and simple to deal with, and we've gotten used to how to outsmart the quirks. Want a classic? 4003. Want rounded contours? 4003S. More modern? Hopefully the 4004 comes back. Try one, if you like it keep it, mess with it wisely and enjoy it for what it is. All basses are fun! If you don't have patience and money for a luthier custom instrument, anything will be more than enough. Oups got carried away ... by the way, I confirm it all because I finally got one: it's fun.

Vintage-itis is only one of the manifestations of the incredible conservatism that has been plagueing the music world in general. I mean even obvious improvements that some "classic" instruments direly need, like for example the head angle of Gibsons, are not implemented because of this reason.

@progrockjock24 күн бұрын
I actually decided to hold off after borrowing a fellow bassist's Mark Bass combo amp, then out of nowhere, all of the Acoustic bass amps disappeared from Guitar Center. I'm not sure what happened. I had decided that I wanted a B100C (this is the one you should get because of the options), but couldn't find one anywhere. Now, it appears that they're back in stock at GC online. If you just want it for practicing at home, the B50C is completely adequate. I just liked the XLR out and other options the B100C provides. One more thing, during the 2021 Holiday Season, they slashed the prices on all of their amps. I believe the B100C was going for $179 or $199 (a total steal!), but not sure what they'll do this season.

I have an ATK that is super comfortable and feels the most "me", but when I played a Jazz Bass for the first time I was shocked how much better it sounded. Is your ATK your go to bass tonally, or just playability-wise?
@progrockjock25 күн бұрын
Both with the ATK. I have a 2007 MIM Jazz bass that I would completely love if it had SD pickups and a good fret dress. Once I get those things sorted out, I might claim the Jazz as my main bass, since it weighs nearly a pound & a half less.
