You dont know too much, has to do with the fact Lieem is not a martial artist, and was miss cast in the movie, so they need a lot of cuts, like Matt Damon, in the bourne seriesd, learning basic krav maga, by a stunt guy, is hardly enough comapered to long time real black belt martial artist, even John Wick as amazing as it is was limited, in the fight scenes because of thr limitations, of Keanu real martial arts knoweledge, even Denzal in Equalizer, your taking famous amaerican actors, and trying to make the look they can fight, where as you can see in raid Iko is a real silat Kung fu guy and it shows with his movements. Taken should have been done by Steven Seagal, or Stahtam, or wesley Snipes, Bourne movies should have been done by Staham, adkins, or Micheal Jai white, equalizer should have been done by Wesley Snipes, Statham, micheal Jai White.

4 guys are playing cards. One guy turns to the other and says. "Hey, you ever get your shit pushed in?" Sounds like a setup to a weird joke. That and "King Kong ain't got shit on me!" That is what I remember the most. When someone is trying too hard to act like a badass I just tell them about this scene and how they think they're King Kong or something.

Yes I agree with everything you said ,but some other good mentions would be HeadShot,The Night Comes For us and I gotta throw in one that's more on the action side with less martial arts and the would be The Witch Subversion

I always rate the quality of the action scenes and actors ability by the number of cuts and close ups taken and i hate "shaky cam" with a passion. That is because i grew up with Jackie Chan and Jet Li where form, speed and clarity was the most important aspect. Hollywood was still sleeping when it came to action movies so Hong Kong, who didn't do much post editing anyway, really spoiled me and everything from the US was seen as fake, slow and artificial.

I love both of The Raid movies, and I think that as mind-boggling as it seems to me, The Raid 2 managed to outperform the feats of even the first film. I enjoy both about equally, but I think they managed to up their game so to speak with the sequel, and that's really hard to do given how great the first one was! I still enjoy mainstream films if they also have good stories and likeable actors and performances, but the action does and always has for me, registered on different levels so to speak. I've been watching martial arts movies from the greats ever since I was a little kid (I just turned 32 not long ago) and I'm a practitioner of martial arts myself, although I've had to switch up my methods many times due to disabilities, but my point is that martial arts movies have always been on a different level of fluidity and the way they are shot in general when compared to action films that have martial arts in them, which are typically two different things. Now the line does blur with certain movies, like the John Wick movies for example, which have excellent flow and switch between hand-to-hand fights and gunplay, but even then, they still have a different feel to them from say The Raid films or even classic Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Jet Li, and other movies, etc. Not necessarily worse, but different. There are some films that delve into both aspects of action scenes equally well, but there are always noticeable differences based on the intent of the film. Some films intend to deliver action in a certain way that blurs the line, some focus on certain elements over others, and some (i.e. martial arts films in this case) showcase martial arts, so the goal is centered on the movement and registers differently from action films that mix things together or just go for a different depiction or delivery of its action scenes. Well, that's how it seems to me at least. There is usually a noticeable difference in my opinion.

John Woo in the 80s is another director who uses very little cuts. I would say The Killer is just as good as the raid and it was made in 1989. In fact Woos entire HK library holds up to this day.

I know this video came out a year ago, but I just had to comment because it was such a thoughtful breakdown, especially within the context of the video that came before it talking about how The Raid series was so influential. The truly amazing thing about the assassin fight in the raid 2 is that it pays a much to so many things in the same way that Ong Bak 2 paid homage to different martial arts genres. Rama seemingly representing modern martial arts, and the focus on brutality and especially more modern HK action/ Kung Fu movies, and the assassin representing older films and directors, even along the likes of Kurosawa where every second is either creating tension, or showing you the stakes with how deadly each attack is. Is. Not only that, but this is a villain who acknowledged his opponent's skill when they first encounter each other in the kitchen. There's a lot to be said in creating tension when the villain understands and respects his opponent but still walks with a confidence that says " these are your last moments, enjoy them!." The assassin has a lot of mixed martial arts, despite the fact that the focus seems to be the close quarter knife tactics towards the end, but in the beginning there is a range of Southeast Asian martial arts that even includes principles of things like kendo And choreography of samurai battles where a shot is framed. Just close enough to show the protagonist and the antagonist meeting their swords, in this case, Rama and the assassin just grazing each other's palms. There's just so much to unpack, from the choreography to the film direction, to the subtle hints at different styles, not just of martial arts, but of filmmaking. I completely agree with you that the raid 2 not only has the best fight scene, but probably some of the absolute best filmmaking across all genres. Genres. This is how you tell a story without words! Absolutely loving your analyzes by the way, even if I am one year lead to the party

I don't get what everyone sees in these movies. Their fights are SO repetitive and lacking rhythm which makes them boring noise after a while. The Raid 2 especially feels like someone droning on and on and on at the same tempo & (loud) volume for 2 hours. The only time the Raid 2 got good was during the Baseball bat and Hammer Girl scene because suddenly the choreography felt like something out of a classic Hong Kong 80s movie for a few minutes. The scene was playful and ebbed and flowed while having modern brutality. But everything else was such a slog to get through. The Raid 1 was much better (mainly because the director was just making a straightforward action flick instead of trying to be Coppola), but even that suffered from repetitiveness in the fight choreo. Iko Iwais and the other performers are real talents though, so I'm glad they've gone on to bigger and better things.

Lifelong black man in America here... I watched this movie growing up but this is the first video to catch it. Caine is navigating life aimlessly. Absolutely no goals and refusing to make decisions that will remove him from what's familiar. But more importantly, when grandpa asking him if he cared about dying and he replied idk, O Dogg said "Come on. Let's go." If you refuse to make a hard choice, life will choose for you. With no goals, you become a victim to the goals of the people around you. You could become a millionaire or you can get dead but the choice will never be yours.

@SocialBobcat 100% agree. If this was purely just a policy thing, I'd understand, but it's not. This is about America choosing someone who enables the worst in people and thrives off of the chaos that comes with it. And while this is unfortunate for all, it's a complete slap in the face to women, for obvious reasons. ✊🏾

@ yep my wife was pretty bummed about all of it , but particularly two female candidates in the last eight years being rejected, particularly when both were reasonably more qualified in actual governing. i will say i think that Trump-critical media often does the sanity-seeking among us a disservice when it overstretches truth and ignores context to try and make political points off of Trump ( no he wasn't fellating a mic stand, he was gesturing how he had to bend down to be heard on the bad mic; no he wasn't saying Liz Cheney should be in front of a firing squad, he was saying she wouldn't be so eager to support armed conflicts if she was on the front lines with enemy guns trained at her- though that's rich coming from him with his previous twitter saber rattling ). point being there's enough bad stuff that he says and does within the actual context and the more that gets lumped in with half-truth attacks, the less believed and more dismissed it all becomes. i hope that journalists fighting for tolerance and fairness do better going forward. on the actual video topic, i'm as white as my Charlie Brown avatar so i'm not going to pretend i know how black women and other minority demographic groups feel right now; i'm still feeling stressed about the outcome and if i'm stressed as a white male i can easily assume that others are feeling double the weight on their chests. give them their flowers for sure, it's going to take some time to pick everyone up and keep speaking for greater human decency and demanding leaders that reflect it

Biden had the option to choose an actual black VP, he bypassed all the black ones to pick an indian one who pretends to be black. Black women also lack a skillset that would net them a high paying job. Outside of nursing, BW choose the worst majors and that's after a stint at xes work. This video is cap.

First, I'm sorry. Specifically to black women -- to black men, and to all black Americans across and outside the binary. FTR, white voters like me made and own Trump, we haven't picked the Democrat for President since LBJ signed the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts 60 years ago. Black women are the greatest true patriots and defenders of democracy and freedom that the U.S.A. has ever been blessed with. % of White Vote by Party Democratic Republican 1968 ❌¹ ✅¹ 1972 31% 67% 1976 47% 52% 1980 36% 56% 1984 35% 64% 1988 40% 59% 1992 39% 40% 1996 43% 46% 2000 42% 54% 2004 41% 58% 2008 43% 55% 2012 39% 59% 2016 37% 58% 2020 41% 58% 2024 41% 57% ____________________________ ¹ We do not have exit poll data prior to 1972, but we know the white vote chose bc of the Republicans- Southern Strategy -- the gist of which is to court Southern whites with hyperbolic and racially charged messaging about crime and drugs.

I dont think I could agree more. Black women are consistently more aligned with and vote for our freedoms and inclusivity. Once again, being the backbones of the country while simultaneously being let down. As disheartening as that data is you shared, it's not surprising. Conservatives definitely cater to their base and feed into rhetoric that is prevalent in those communities. Democrats seem to want to appeal to everyone, and sometimes forget their own base in the process. Thanks for your thoughts and kind words!! ✊🏾

Great video and something we as brothers should muse over , ponder, and see how to apply that into our life with the women we love . In the interim , we need a video called " Can we give black men our respect?" Not all sisters , imma say it again like umar , not all sisters but if you have seen what i seen online . If you saw how black men were spoken to like dogs by obama and michelle and some sisters, btw . Yes, black women are the most disrespected and mistreated women on the planet Earth . So are black men . So instead of us dividing each other, let's acknowledge our wrongdoings to each other and stand together like we once did in the past . Let's be better than our foreparents who are doing' better than us if you think about what im trying to say .

I appreciate the kind words fam. And I agree. I dont think there can ever be enough videos addressing the steps to make life easier for all black people, men and women alike. I blame the success of the Jason Bourne movies for this trend. The "fast pace handheld what the hell am I even looking at? I can`t follow the plot trend". After those movies almost all action movies looked the same for ages. We can always go back and watch The Raid movies or the Ung Back movies and the Jackie Chan classics, but I have faith in the future to. John Wick and Nobody shows that people will continue to watch and make good stuff now that stunt people make movies and the generation that watched Jackie Chan etc is now the age to make their interpretation of those movies. + If not Hollywood you can always look abroad. There is always something cool to be discovered.

I find with movies nowadays, all the combat is so fluent because of how well the raid redemption was done. To me it still hold up because as unstoppable as Ramas is, he still takes damage and fatigue. I've tried to like John Wick so many times I put it on thinking okay maybe I just gotta come back to it later maybe the 2nd one this time or the 3rd and nope Im pulled out I can't get into it, point blank bullet proof suits the gun-fu, no one gives him the slightest challenge unless its a built up sword fight. Rama goes through hell and overall I think it is a better story than a lot of newer action movies.
