On thing that still angers me about call of duty is the use of those land rovers as a universal military vehicle. How hard can it be to create a replica humvee or mrap. Also outlets are something I look at. For some reason a lot of games mix the outlets between na and uk it’s odd.

Healing at the temple is a job in Skyrim too even though it is kinda just praying, technically employed.

It actually is cool to look at how bad the graphics are in this because the reason why the original SNES Mario Kart is even a kart racer at all is because of the technical limitations of the system. They couldn’t do multiplayer and have it be fast, and they really wanted multiplayer. So I’d imagine that the pixels the size of your head in the 64 version is for the same reason. It’s so cool how they had to cut as many corners as possible to get up to marginally 20 FPS. In retrospect, the N64 probably wasn’t even cut out to be a 3D system yet that’s what 90+% of the games were. It could have been made some mind blowing 2D games though but that wasn’t in at the time.

That rainbow hole is news to me too, I guess I haven’t gone over the game with a fine tooth comb, but I’ve been playing it on and off for the, uh, almost 30 years it’s been out (yikes). Maybe that’s actually a hindrance because back in the day, there were only a few sources of info to find out secrets, basically Nintendo Power, some guide magazine, or your friends. So having that info maybe helped lead me into a false sense of security. And like you said, there is usually *some* indication of where a bombable area is and if there isn’t, I’d expect it to be something more substantial than 50 rupees. It seems like they knew how crazy the room is was enough of a reward for finding it.

I remember the first time I fought the ender dragon, it was a weird time I was 14 years old, and we used to play a lot of Minecraft during the beta, but as it is with this game we stoped until we got wind of this full release of the game, out of beta version 1.0.0 and with a boss fight and a new dimension everyone did servers, and I was playuin with a friend we managed to kill the ender dragon and that poem came into the screen, we were talking through team speak 3. I understood less than half of it but we where in awe we where kids when the "playing video games is a waste of time" thing was at it highest, if you played video games you where a looser except for LOL or CoD or FIFA, so this poem came and just validated that games are awesome that they let you experience little snipets of other lives that are not your own but they are in a weird way but you still need to get out and do stuff, ofc we ignored that advice and when the thing ended we went right back at playing. the fact that I can remember with so much detail something so small that happened 13 years ago when I was 14 its incredible and it means quite a lot to me so yea Minecraft is a special game.

You're looking at the lighthouse all wrong... The purpose of the lighthouse is to make sure no ships sail too close to the rocks. In this regard, the lighthouse is perfectly performing it's duty. One may say it is too good at it's job. Reminds me of the guy spreading powder across his yard. His neighbor comes out and asks what he is spreading on the yard. The first guy responds, "It's elephant powder to keep the elephants away." The neighbor, confused, says "We don't have any elephants around here...." The first guy comes back with "Works well huh!"

Skyrim is the homeland of the Nords, which are inspired by the Vikings so the furniture and building style is Scandinavian and Norwegian and Icelandic and I think the Bethesda art department did their best but maybe they should have spoken to an expert in Viking woodworking and furniture making and building architecture and maybe gone to some to museums in Norway or Scandinavia or Iceland to see some real examples of Viking architecture and furniture and woodworking et cetera

It's not nearly the same, but I play Skyrim when I miss the snow. I moved from someplace very snowy, and now I'm very lucky if I see snow once a year. It makes me more and less homesick all at once. There's a lot of times where I just stop somewhere because something is juuust similiar enough that it 'feels right'. Like the subtle glitter the snow has in some places, or the way it will blow off of hills or rocks, or looking straight up to see all those white flakes falling from a grey sky. I know not everyone likes snow, and I'm well acquainted with how darn inconvenient it can be, but I kind of miss the hard parts too. I miss having to dig my front door out, and having to dry my wet clothes, and needing a thick coat, and how nice it feels to come in and get warm after your face being blasted with wind so cold it hurts. I miss waking up and being able to see my breath a little in the bathroom and watching the sunrises through ice roses in the window. Again, Skyrim is not nearly the same. But that happy-and-sad-all-at-once feeling is pretty nice, especially around Christmas.

I find knowing the source of a river and its endpoint really interesting (especially if the beginning point is much smaller than the river ends up being) because of the change in magnitude. How an unassuming trickle can become roaring whitewater, or how a massive waterfall can turn into a calm trickle. Its just really impressive to me how something so small can turn into something massive.

It would really depend on the level of advancements made in nuclear weaponry in the Fallout universe. Earlier games (up to New Vegas) seem to imply a level of nuclear capabilities equal to 1960s america where it was still mostly encased bombs dropped from a plane or aircraft or submarine launcers (oddly with the neat little development of more intimate delivery methods in the Fatman launchers), while later games (4, 76) and the TV show seem to imply a more modernized ICBM style of delivery. Both of these have dramatically different implications of the type of nuke that could be delivered, ICBMs obviously being the more advanced package that could be more exact and accute in scale and scope (like the one that hit the white house) where as air dropped bombs would be significantly more likely to be near a target (like the one dropped on Germantown police station). Which i think is an interesting topic of discussion
