So love and miss Michael Heiser. Thank God for his books and his interviews and seminars preserved on KZbin. But, gosh, he had so much to share, so much good stuff. Can’t replace the joy and blessing of hearing him live. But he lives in a better place now.

Wasn't it a super common thing in the Semitic world for kings to be priests of their city's main god? Nebuchadnezzar II was priest of Eanna. Or see the terms _en_ and _ensi_ in Sumerian. The king of the city was also the high priest and servant of the city's patron deity. So I don't know why Heiser acts like it's so weird for a king to be a priest...

Reading a dozen or so different translations at the same time can be rather fun, it can often turn into a learning experience. Footnotes are often fascinating.

I really miss Mike. I learned a lot from him but, more than anything, he taught me that I was actually reading the Bible correctly by actually questioning it and trying to find out exactly what it says. As I often try to do when dealing with foreign things or other cultures, I was trying to see it from the perspective of the people who wrote it, etc. He was a tremendous help with that.

A straightforward reading of the passage would be modesty in the assembly re: others in the assembly. Bringing wayward angels into the interpretation is a step, Paul just advising based on his mistaken personal assumption about those supposed wayward angels is a further step that begins to hit at the inspiration of the text. Paul wasn't usually shy about laying out reasons in his positions. Since he's silent there in the text on that point, I'll skip the two steps added and go with the context of the passage itself. Subject to other scriptural light of course

Had a young guy age 35 who went to our reformed theology-rich church, highly intelligent in engineering, math and well-read in a lot of stuff especially theology. When I shared my thoughts and admiration for Dr. Heiser, he quickly declared him a heretic. This same young guy attempted to spar often with the ministers of our church bating them publicly and privately, attempting to point our their failings as genuine pastors (shepherds of the flock) because they didn't know and physically care for their congregants more deeply and more personally. This guy eventually got divorced [his wife fled from what she called tyranical, ultra-religiosity]. He got let go from his job in medical equipment sales due to non-performance. He also abandoned our church altogether and hooked his wagon to orthodox catholicism. Dr. Heiser has done more in the short time I've known his material to shine light on Scripture. He's no heretic. RIP Dr. Heiser.

Just ignore the fact that Paul told the Thessalonians about these things in person and that the Thessalonians knew what was restraining him in their day and that the one who was restraining the man of lawlessness in Paul's day would do so until he was taking out of the way. Also, just ignore the fact that Paul said the man of lawlessness was already at work. While you are at it, go ahead and ignore 2 Thessalonians 1 and 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17, where Paul told the Thessalonians that some of them who were alive in Paul's day would remain alive until the second coming. And don't worry about the fact that Jesus said the disciples would see the abomination of desolation. I am sure Paul and Jesus were just poor communicators.

100 views 3hrs ago, 9 likes. I presume this broadcast 3 hrs ago to such a number likely must have been an assignment for a theological class group. I discovered Michael Heiser Naked Podcast during a 28 day stay in a. Physical rehab facility, recovering from a hip replacement procedure following a fall. Rehab complicated by also having ALS. I learned much from Dr Heiser nearly three years ago. I have also purchased his books. It is a bit of irony, that this good teacher would be spared from living through this very time he was pointing towards in this message. He literally fulfills the passage in Isaiah 57:1. I don't know if any will be led to hear this warning, however if but one with an ear to hear reads this, that is one, who can tell another, when that one begins to see what the Lord has begun today. First I say, though medicine was my life's work, Proverbs25:2 was my passion. How near to Matthew 24:37-39 are we? Well I am 78 yo, with ALS, and I believe I will live to see the fulfillment of all of the Matthew 24 prophesies come to pass, bringing in the return of our Lord. Jesus said learn the parable of the figtree, and all of the trees. And when you see them bud leaves know that that season of summer is near at hand. That figtree budded 77 years ago. The exodus of Israel after that first Passover is the pattern of this generation. Yahshua entered the promise land at 80 yrs of age, and Caleb at 85yrs old. 77 plus 3 implies the Yashuas will enter in within 2 or 3 years, and the remaining Calebs in 7 or 8 yrs. It is no coincidences that is the length experected for the entire world be tried under a great tribulation. The sign of Jonah April 8th solar eclipse, announced the end of the 6day earth lease given to Adam had expired. All of mankind shall now be tried as man now enters the great and terrible day of the wrath of the Lord God Almighty. We have come to Rev.22:11, followed by Rev.14:14-20, facilitated by Revelation chapter 9, as Michael the restrainer has now handed the key to the star falling from heaven unto the earth. That star is Lucifer and he will open the abyss of the gloomy darkness of tarturus, and the idolatrous witchcraft of man opens the windows of second heaven unto mankind, for the forces of Abbadon, no longer restrained from destroying all flesh. Only those with the seal of the Father will not be decieved. MARANATHA, but not before times that have never before been experienced by mankind, usher in our Lord's return, wherin the complete destruction of the armies of antichrist, bring in the Sabbath of the Lord's Day

To be honest, I’m feeling a little rage at the moment. We are encouraged to be in the word of God. Scripture declares a blessing on all of those who hear/read the words of the prophecy of Revelation, but no body really understands any of it. Not only do we have many avenues of disagreement among ‘biblical scholars’ and seminary trained pastors, but now it’s being presented that we need to understand the male/female of original Hebrew words and to think like a biblical Jew to gain any understanding of what’s truly being said? Why even read the scripture if apparently I need to be proficient in Hebrew and Greek to even understand it?! I just cannot believe that God has complicated His word to the point that only the ‘scholars’ among us can understand what it written. That takes us back under Roman Catholicism. I have about had enough of all of this!!! The End

Remember, Jesus told the Jews, "... you will not see me again UNTIL you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord." It's not just the fullness of the gentiles that brings the Lord back. The fullness of the gentiles triggers the Rapture. It is the Jews recognizing Jesus as Messiah and crying out for Him to return that finally brings Him back.

10:30 I can tell you exactly why we think we have to be good for God to be happy with us and like us, even when we know it's not Biblical. It's because that's how people treat us, and people are the closest thing we have to an image of Him (wait, I think we were made in His image, but screwed it up), so that's how we expect God to be, and we can't keep drom thinking that way, no matter how hard we try. As an example, Christ is my betrothed, my groom-to-be, and I am His bride. I, however, have a husband here in earth, who I know for a fact is rarely pleased with me, who has told me that he doesn't feel anything for me, but has gotten to a point where he just "feels numb," and this despite me trying to behave and please him with "good works." It will never be something that I can do this side of death to believe, other than intellectually, which is all I am able to do, that God doesn't think the se way of me as my earthly husband does, because it's all I know, and is how I have beem trained for the past 15÷ years. It's the "I believe, Lord, please help my unbelief." It's all some of us have.

Then i discovered heiser and him calling augustine out. Then there was the movie the ten commandments. At 7 i asked why does it say no other gods (plural) It made me raise a eyebrow... Seeing hieser and inspiring philosophy made me relise classical evangelism is missing so much

If you’re not sure, it NEVER was faith. Period. Amen. The writer of Hebrews is simply laying out what faith really is…and is NOT. Obviously, I vehemently disagree, with all due respect, but relationship with Holy Spirit makes the character, essence, and perspective of Father abundantly clear in the Way Jesus portrayed the love of Father and brought kingdom come. Mike’s perspective doesn’t take on the ‘wisdom from above’ , but instead promotes the Adamic wisdom from an analytical perspective that provides just enough ‘reason’ to talk ourselves out of belief. James 3:13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. James 3:14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. James 3:15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. James 3:16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. James 3:18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. Shalom btw - mad respect for Michael, but Truth MUST prevail. 🙏👍🙏 33:59

This is incredibly fascinating to me how Michael doesn’t grasp the concept of the power of the blood of Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:8-10 explains how if we deny the blood, we’re deceived, but 1 John 2:1-6 makes it abundantly clear that IF we sin, notice the perspective change that it’s no longer an expectation, the POWER of the blood cleanses us an makes us righteous. We are no longer slaves to sin (John 8:34-36), but free indeed. (Romans 6:7-11). Let us now abide in Him and fulfill the law of love. Stop attempting to atone for what has already been forgiven. Do not cheapen the blood bought price Jesus paid for you to be restored in relationship with the Father. Remission = Forgiveness
 Hebrews 10:18 So if our sins have been forgiven and forgotten, why would we ever need to offer another sacrifice for sin?
@travisdawe565
@travisdawe565 17 күн бұрын
Forsaking faith is impossible (taste and see that the Lord is good). If you proclaim faith and then deny it…it simply means you never had it….it never germinated to produce “born again”. “Forsaking faith in what really gives salvation…” What “really gives salvation” can NEVER be denied…because it IS true faith…again I say, what is not yet germinated is NOT born again.
