I love the way you approach this. I’ve seen some of musical heroes make poor aesthetic choices with pedals. I’m gonna try start with a delay effect for now but you killed my dreams when you mentioned that distortion doesn’t work live :(

@@ronglennproductions5416 don’t get me wrong; it DEFINITELY can be done! It all depends on the context and what gear you are working with. Maybe I will make a video on some ways to approach it

Do you have a video about how to connect this pedals all together? To a mixer and the speakers?
@studbagl
@studbagl 21 күн бұрын
@@RaulRivera-ws6em it really depends on what kind of set up you want to achieve. If you just want to plug it into an amp/speaker, you need either one or two (if running stereo out) 1/4in cables to run from the pedals to the amp/speaker. If you’re using a mixer, it depends if you are running your pedals as an effects loop or just directly from microphone into pedals into mixer.

@ working on it. I bought the Bose pro s1 with the t4s mixer. What I can’t get working it’s the tensor. It doesn’t do the effect clear or recording. Maybe I am not connecting the right way.

ERROR IN THE VIDEO: I mean to say 3.5mm cable, NOT 8mm. In my head I messed that up because 3.5mm is the same as an 1/8in cable and that's where the 8 came into play. Apologies!

Can you play this set up during a live gig? Dont you have too much feedback ?
@studbagl
@studbagl Ай бұрын
Feedback is always something to be aware of. When playing live, I usually bring the Boss NS-2 pedal which is a noise gate people usually use for noisy dirt pedals. I use it at the beginning of my signal gain and it basically blocks all background sounds out and only captures what's right in front of the mic. It's a nice pedal too because it also has a mute toggle in case I am playing a part without pedals and that way it completely eliminates any potential for it.

Loving your videos!! I am wondering if you notice a difference using the OBN signal blender vs just using a shure transformer. Or if you had a preferred method getting a mic into pedals. I currently use the shure xlr to 1/4 but have used a mixer and a reamp and seem to get a better result from the shure. Thanks!
@studbagl
@studbagl 3 ай бұрын
Thank you! Sometimes I use the signal blender to boost the signal a little bit but I mostly use it to connect multiple instruments into the pedalboard. The transformer has worked completely fine for me so far, but I mostly use my zoom h2n as a microphone when I'm in a studio-like setting

Thank you! I have 2 ways I do it. In this video I am using a Shure SM-57 with a transformer (I think the Shure A85F) to convert it from XLR to 1/4 inch without losing signal. I also use the zoom h2n as a microphone sometimes too.

I see some people using the reverb harmony effects, on vocal effects pedals, as opposed to an instrument reverb and octave pedal combination. Is one better than the other?
@studbagl
@studbagl 3 ай бұрын
@@0713mas I cannot answer that accurately because I haven’t tried vocal-targeted effects pedals. I have always leaned into instrument pedals because I use them for my synths/keyboards as well and I like all the different things they can do. I imagine one might be better than the other depending on what you are specifically looking for.

@studbagl Ty! I saw a few videos using the Boss VE-20, good. I am a guitar player singer-songwriter looper. I have successfully used my bamboo sax with my VLP GTX but it's kinda hit or miss as far as tone goes. My Son is a saxophonist, and we tested out his alto on my rig. I have come to the conclusion that the range is sometimes not complete to accommodate a tenors higher register.

What a coincidence: just when I was thinking about getting this pedal earlier and being bummed out that I couldn't find any videos of a Saxplayer using and demonstrating it without any other pedals, you upload this video. Do you like it and would recommend it for Sax? I'd would like it to function as a standard reverb too in addition to the ambient aspects. Awesome playing of course too! :)
@studbagl
@studbagl 7 ай бұрын
Glad this was encouraging! The reverb, especially in stereo, is really quite gorgeous. It’s great too because if you turn the clock down, you can turn it basically into a bit-crushed-adjacent reverb. The only thing you would want to take note of is that the reverb is on the softer side volume-wise. Even when fully wet or 50/50 with dry signal it never gets super apparent, especially compared to how loud the delay/slip modes are. I checked to see if there were internal trim pots to boost the reverb signal but I didn’t see one if it exists. It’s not a big deal by any means I just noticed that all other reverb pedals I have used would go more apparent/louder; just depends what you want. I made a few other mood videos as well as other reverbs if you are interested in comparing. Hope this helps!

I don’t like to rely on battery power for pedals however the few times I do, I don’t use typical batteries as they aren’t compatible with my pedals. Instead, I use an external battery (like ones that people use for charging phones on the go) and the hook it up to pedal using a special cable that converts to 9V.
