Uniden makes a hardwiare kit that you can get power off of your fuse block under the dash. I have one and it works well. Was like 27-30 dollars.

Based on everything you said, the Uniden DID NOT FAIL YOU! It alerts you that there's a presents of a radar in the area. It's all up to you how you respond to that warning! Also, not ragging on you, but who uses the cruise control when you know your coming into a 'reduce speed" area? The radar detector is not gonna grow a hand and reach out and slap you to make you slow down! Thats all up to you how to redpond to the alert! When it alerts, slow down until you actually see the threat! Also it's not advisable to use your cruise control late at night for several reasons! If you set your cruise control on 75 mph, and you happen to doze off, your gonna be in a world of trouble! That also applies for rainy weather. You set the cruise control on wet pavement, and you start to hydroplane, the cruise isn't going to let off, and around you'll go!

i thought you were going to show an actual K band hit but you're just detecting Ka band down the highway. Ka band almost never falses... K band falses the most. It's quite easy to tell the difference between a false and actual threat if u pay attention to equipment in your area and actually look up at what your detector is telling you.

I assume that it didn’t work because the USB is only putting out 5v. The USB type may put out more power but I would assume it would be low voltage as well.

I got a stalker DSR 2X police radar for testing detectors and such and when I have it out on the highway I’ve caught soooo many people with top of the line detectors… The stalker only takes 0.2 seconds to get a reading on average… So if they haven’t hit anyone else and they hit you first, your not gonna have time to slow down (unless they try to hit you too far and it didn’t get a reading). The way you catch people with detectors (even if they’re the best) is you visually estimate the speed and you only hit them if you estimated them as speeding. Cops in my area do this A LOT! But my V1 does a great job overall. I have implemented a Hawk eye though for when they’re doing their estimations… This way I can spot them from about a mile away and slow down before they can estimate me! However this won’t work at night though

I was in the market for a top tier detector 2 years ago. 3 radars detectors came to mind after doing lots of research: Valentine V1 Gen 2, Uniden R7 and the Redline 360C. The red line clicked all the boxes(literally) but flunked badly on response detecting an alert. Vortex Radar did a test on a. stationary radar source and the Escort Redline 360 failed miserably, it basically was to slow to alert you and there was no ramp up time either so by the time he drove through the tall grassy curve the source was right there in front of it(look for the video). I heard that Escort fixed some bugs and it is much quicker to alert you. I personally ended up buying a Uniden R7 and a Valentine Gen 2 which I absolutely love them both. They couldn't be more different . Last year a had a very solid and strong visual and audio signal on ny Valentine V1 Gen 2 from 2.4 miles. I could have picked the signal way before but that is when I turned a street and made the 90 degree left turned and my radar started to signal me.

Be sure to use the cable that came with the unit. It's thicker than my other cables and you won't see the detector connected with an inferior cable.

I have a Uniden R7 with the International Software applied to it. It’s plenty quiet on the highway dude. I’ve driven that same stretch of 45 with minimal falsing.
