Now that Vancouver is getting new Skytrain extensions, there are situations where a station is going on a street that already has a station named after it. For example, there is a Granville station on the Expo Line, and a new station on Granville further south on the Millennium line, which they are calling 'South Granville', which to be fair is the name of that neighbourhood too.

Reading these comments, I feel sad so many Canadians have negative opinions about the US. Some evince downright hatred. Why? You became a fully independent nation in 1982. What have we done to you since then that is so horrific? I’ve studied the Canadian version of our joint history and see your perspective that we were enemies in our Revolution. But I don’t hear a Canadian understanding of how Washington and the colonials saw it. You were invited to join us. That is a fact of history. When you refused you were clearly choosing to be part of Great Britain. Which was our enemy. Not fighting the northern war would have allowed Washington to be surrounded from the north and northwest where the fur traders were. This attack would augment the British attack from the sea. Are we supposed to apologize 248 years later for fighting Red Coats who were north of us because north happened to be called Canada? Which, I repeat, was Great Britain in North America, not a nation called Canada. Your ancestors made their choice. We disagreed. Are you going to be mad at us forever because we won? While you yourselves only “left” Great Britain 42 years ago?

As a resident of eastern Ontario close to Casselman (13:10) this is the only part of the project I don’t agree with. Give the mostly Franco ontarien population of eastern Ontario a connection to Montreal. That sounds political…and it most certainly is.

This is pathetic. I have a question for you.. Since you put some much effort into your investigation and conspiracy theories; how about you also investigate the quality of the Canadian GM’s and the effects of toxicity of Canadian team fanbase and press? As of 2024, the General Managers (GMs) of Canadian NHL teams and their citizenships are as follows: 1. Montreal Canadiens - Kent Hughes, Canadian 2. Toronto Maple Leafs - Brad Treliving, Canadian 3. Ottawa Senators - Pierre Dorion, Canadian 4. Winnipeg Jets - Kevin Cheveldayoff, Canadian 5. Calgary Flames - Craig Conroy, Canadian . 6. Edmonton Oilers - Jeff Jackson, Canadian 7. Vancouver Canucks - Patrik Allvin, Swedish The most toxic NHL fanbases, according to various discussions and surveys, often include the following teams: 1. Edmonton Oilers: Edmonton fans are frequently cited as one of the most toxic, particularly in online forums and discussions. They have a reputation for being highly critical and outspoken, especially regarding their star player, Connor McDavid . 2. Calgary Flames: Fans of the Calgary Flames are noted for using the most profane language on social media, indicating a high level of toxicity in their online interactions . 3. Vancouver Canucks: Canucks fans also rank high in terms of vulgar language use and are often involved in heated online debates and criticisms . 4. Philadelphia Flyers: Flyers fans are known for their intense passion and can be quite harsh, both online and at games . 5. Toronto Maple Leafs: Leafs fans are another group frequently mentioned for their intense and sometimes toxic behavior, particularly on social media. Now go pounder that...

My dream project would be high speed MagLev trains that can go 400km/hr+, like Japan has, that connect the entire country end to end. Toronto to Montreal in 1 hour 15 mins instead of 5 hrs+ (assumes no delays) today.

Remember that 40 minute segment on the eastern half between Ottawa and Montreal where you just know that a bicycle would be faster? Now get real about high speed rail here. It'll never happen in any current living person's lifetime.

There have been 4 separate $multi-million studies/projects in over 40 years to establish high-speed rail from Toronto to Montreal via Peterborough and Ottawa. The old track-bed still sits abandoned and taken back by nature. The promise of high-speed trains in Canada has been a liberal election ploy since the Turbo train in the mid-70s. The Turbos are museum pieces now and haven't carried a single passenger since the early 80s. What would be nice is more trains to smaller centres, bring-back a new improved version of the Budd-Cars and have it all run on-time.

It’s not fixed against Canadian teams. The United States has lower taxes, in some markets great weather and US markets do not face the media scrutiny that players on Canadian teams do. Since free agency started after the first nhl lockout in 1994 their has been unrestricted free agency which has hurt Canadian based teams more than their US counterparts

So many flaws with this. It would be a 2-4 team league without salary cap. Edmonton had multiple #1 picks and still can’t win. Free agents from Canada avoid Canada and opt for places with no state income tax (why panthers and lightning have been to cup last 5 years). Canada has to start looking at other reasons as to why they can’t do anything to win over last 30+ years. Could be taxes. Could be desirability of cities. Could be fan bases/media. Could be a lot of things. They should be worried that even with leveled playing field and advantages with players from their cities (in history you typically see “home town discounts”), Canada still can’t do anything productive.

Interesting "mess" to focus on. But: sadly your response is to blame earlier generations, people who lived, worked and died before you - the planners of the past, the "old white guys" - as you say - who are long gone. Bullies, incompetents, pedants, dickheads, people called Dundas and Bloor. They weren't cutting-edge, witty young geniuses of 2024 like you, young geniuses who swear constantly - dickhead, fucking, shit, fuck, bullshit etc. Your critique perfectly represents the values of today: contempt, arrogance, ceaseless moralism, unalloyed all-embracing nastiness.

I have a lifelong intense dislike of the cement stuff, having grown up in Boston where the local Victorian library was needlessly demolished and replaced with a cement box. Also, there is the infamous, eternal mistake, Boston City Hall. However, I having been living in Montreal unexpectedly for the past 6 weeks due to an ill family member, and to my great surprise, have developed a crush on the giant, uber-Brutalist Rockhill complex in "my" neighborhood of Cotes des Neiges. Mind you, one shudders to think of the probably several dozen absolutely lovely 1930s small apartment buildings that must have been demolished to wake way for the behemoth. But still. It sits on that hill over there and I sorta somehow like it.

Careful about saying that you would be better off in America. Not to diminish the problem of a sudden change in immigration in Canada, large cities here in the US have a few of the same problems. The difference is that immigration in Canada is managed but it's a fire hose, emergency of illegal immigrants through the Mexican border. I'm sure you've seen the homeless sleeping in tents on the streets in San Francisco or New York city. Family care physicians are in short supply and the situation is getting worse. On the other hand, seeing a specialist physician is usually not a problem. Going to an emergency department means that depending on what takes you there, it'll be hours before you see a doctor. Just so you know we have a lot of doctors and nurses trained in Canada working here. They're here because the pay is higher.

Ttc map should have been better designed, as a local, its easy for me to navigate but i can imagine as a visitor to the city switching from different agencies of bus could be so confusing and if you have to use go transit or up express too, they wont be obvious on the ttc map or even a line on there, i think if all the agencies could merge and working together they could make it better tbh. Like for someone wanna use all the different agencies to get around the gta for the first time, having ttc, go transit and up express lines on the same map would help sm. I found this reddit user, dont think i can link it here but you can search it up, they merge all the lines from agencies together making it way more understandable and easy to navigate

The problem with 100 million Canadians by 2100 (which is a completely arbitrary number) is that it can only be done through immigration. Mass immigration, especially considering the fact that the natural birth rate among native-born Canadians is flat. Most of the country’s population growth now, in fact nearly 100%, is through immigration. They’re just opening the flood gates to everyone and it is having a clearly depressing effect on living standards, productivity, etc. Don’t build a society where Canadians feel comfortable having more children, just import a lot of foreigners into the country who don’t, and likely won’t, have much of an allegiance to Canada. And this is all to make Canada a “world power?” Why?!? Why is that necessary in the first place? What’s the point if it demolishes demographics, increases political and social instability and decreases living standards. Not to mention it would eventually force Quebec out of confederation. It’s ridiculous. This is going to fundamentally change the country, and I don’t think for the best. Also, the US population isn’t declining at all, it is just showing slower growth.

The parts of this video about Bluesky didn’t age well, especially considering it was already known in August *2023* that Jack Dorsey had no involvement in the day-to-day operations at Bluesky. From the beginning, Bluesky has been run by Jay Graber, one of the very few women of power in the tech industry. But even in 2024, it’s apparently still a thing to attribute to extremely mediocre men such as Jack Dorsey the work of vastly more talented women such as Jay Graber.

Doug Saunders is a major spokesman of the neoliberal globalist model of population growth through immigration. He hasnt lived in Canada for decades, so it's no surprise that he supports this artificially induced population growth even in the face of declining living standards.

I disagree completely , nice idea, but other cultures come in and make parallel societies , they start taking advantage of our high-trust systems. Even awesome new immigrants can rack up 3 to 4 credit cards and then just ignore the bills. South Asian culture is incompatible with Canadian business culture. Many very shady business practices, any business person knows now not to go into business with most Indians. As the South Asian population grows, and Canada goes more to shit, more crime will result. Car thefts, mass racketeering, lying and cheating on paperwork, and even mob style protection rackets. No restaurateur ever goes into business with Indians. They lie and embezzle and just deny it. Usually the business will fail within months. Unequal values, so the other partner gets completely fucked. There is no need for more immigration. We just need to make Canada cheaper and more awesome, then our population will reproduce. Right now, they won't because they can't afford it.
