one question, please: i saw the final black wash is pretty diluted. doesn´t this wash reactivate the previous ones? i presume you use white spirits to dilute them. thanks!
@resourcefulminiatures4 сағат бұрын
Good question, after letting the oils dry overnight they will be good to get a further wash on top. When painting miniatures we use so little oil in the end that after 24hs it will be as good as cured

Hi! What do you use to permanently set the pigments? I've tried your technique but when I handle the miniature my fingers get stained. I've tried matte varnish but it darkens the rust effect. Thanks!
@resourcefulminiaturesКүн бұрын
thats weird, i gave mine a light spray of matt varnish diluted 7 to 5 water to varnish just in case and the pigments are set. Since thevarnish was more bit more wawter than varnish it didnt change the color at all

Can you paint Brazen Bull or another Lion of Jabir with pale skin version ?
@resourcefulminiatures2 күн бұрын
Could paint the brazen bull eventually but since im planning to visit at least the court and the cult first, plus a 40k diorama, it will take a while. If you are on the middle of painting your warband maybe my "dead skin" tutorial could be of help swapping the greenish tones for reds or blues.

Great video and great effect. Just so I understand correctly, you had a dark grey, lighter grey and ivory, but created blends between each so you, in effect, had 5 colours to achieve that effect?

Exactly, thats (I belive) the minimum. But you could turn those 3 into 7 ,instead of 5, if you are looking for a smoother blend.

This is great, but after washing the fur, did you paint on the highlights with oils or acrylics?
@resourcefulminiatures6 күн бұрын
Thakn you and good question, I used acrylics. Havent done non-wash painting with oils in a while. This may leave a different finish depending on the oils but an over all splay with a varnish can tie everything together

Thanks so much! Finally ready to dive into this technique. I’ve seen elsewhere that most people recommend varnishing the model before applying oil washes. Do you not find this necessary?
@resourcefulminiatures8 күн бұрын
Glad you found the video helpful I never varnish, but doing so wont hurt you in any way. A gloss varnish is specially useful if you want to get a very precise pin wash on a panel armor for example.
