I’ve got an idea cooking right now actually, and yes it will be Euro, it will be a swap, and it will be WILD.

Side note on the power steering, way back when I did mine, I was able to take off then OEM fitting from my dodge power steering pump and replace the one on the LS pump with it. I did it not to reduce pump pressure(I didnt even know that was a thing 😂) but so that I could reuse my stock power steering hoses.

I have a question about swapping a ford explorer 5.0 and transmission into my 1976 ford f150. I’m new to this but I’m a seasoned mechanic so my question is this, if I pull the engine/transmission with ALL OF THE WIRING INCLUDING FUSE BOXES AND COMPUTERS can’t I just transplant all of that into my old truck and get it running? I’m not worried about transmission to driveshaft or engine mounts or headers or exhaust. I’m talking about taking EVERYTHING out with wiring and installing into my 1976 f150. It seemed to me that it should be able to run in this configuration. Same accessories, cooling system, etc. am I missing something here? Nothing different. Same everything transplanted into my old truck. Fuel system included. Why wouldn’t it run on the stock computers or will it? Thanks 🙏 for your reply sir. I’ve already swapped my 68 stang onto a 2005 chassis so metal work is not a problem. HELP ME PLEASE!!!! 😂❤
@noboltsleftbehindКүн бұрын
I would say absolutely that would work! You'll end up with a lot of extra wires you won't need but there's no harm in ignoring them and sealing the plugs off. This is basically exactly what I did, with the extra step of cutting out the unnecessary wires. I'm using the factory computer, harness, sensors, everything and it's been running great.

why use the 4.8? you may end up dissapointed at the power it produces. 5.3 would have been better. the price is the same for both
@noboltsleftbehind3 күн бұрын
They say the shorter stroke (and/or square cylinder?) makes the 4.8 better for boost. And I did find this 4.8 cheaper than I was finding comparable 5.3s.

I've been using that same fuse block on my LS swap for 4 years, great box but the connectors it comes with are not great with constant higher amperage loads. I ordered heavier connectors for the fuel pump and electric fans, after the first ones burned up. Eventually soldered the crimps as well to make it the best it could be, no issues since. The connectors are Sumi ATC 12-14 Female for the Fuses and AMP 1012 Locking TP / AMP 1214 Locking TP for the relay blocks. I got them from CycleTerminal
@noboltsleftbehind5 күн бұрын
That's great advice, thank you sir! I've actually used this block three times, for my Hemi swap and for my Mustang 5.0 swap too. Been good so far but I'm definitely gonna grab those better connectors.

@davidcardozo747511 күн бұрын
@@noboltsleftbehind I also thought about the LS but I really don't have a lot of budget. I think I can get the Ford Explorer engine for a little bit cheap and it has a lot of aftermarket parts, that's why I'm considering it.

@@davidcardozo7475 I'm actually doing an LS swap right now for my current build series, you can get a truck LS motor for about the same cost or maybe even a little cheaper. Here's the episode where I pull the engine from the donor car: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJ6YnYFjaqiYorM . Both are cool engines, if price is the only consideration you'll get a bit more power out of a 5.3 or even 4.8 LS.
