The blowout was due to air pressure build up in side the pipe from the preheat with the torch. I burn mine out 3/4 the way around and leave a hole that I can fill once the pipe cools

Probably an iron worker or shop welder as pipe welders don't grind their welds unless called for and boilermakers or shop welders make pressure vessels. Certified welders don't weld two different quality welds. Every weld has your name on it. I call this wrong.

Because the unions would have gone on strike, if a sheet welder had even looked at it.

I think the difference in skill level between this welder and I is the ability to weave something like that. I would’ve done 2 to 4 passes just trying to get the gap to connect and it would’ve made the weld a lot less structurally sound. There’s no way in hell I could weave that atm.

Thanks for making this video! I too have been welding for most of my life in support of my log trucking business and friends and family....but I am now seriously considering starting a mobile welding business. I make well over 100k a year at my current job....but there is no reward. It is a sedentary desk job and I desperately miss making cool stuff happen with my hands and skills. I love fabrication and repair. 10 years ago I had an entire truck shop, a 185CFM diesel air compressor and Sandblaster, and welders and plasma cutter, torch, grinders out the wazoo and like an idiot I sold it ALL! And am desperate to get back to doing stuff that makes me feel alive and uses the hard earned skills I developed over the 25 years since I started welding and fabricating and big rig diesel truck ownership and mechanics. Thanks again for this great video! Happy to see someone so ambitious!

Yes, I have a ton of them. You have to go to loves pilots or something similar or Mom and pop and it has to have diesel. Those are the only gas stations that actually do have welding supplies and there’s a few that actually have really good brands of welding supply in them in the state of Ohio.

I spent my money on antiques. I actually work collectors wanted to give me four grand for damn lamp. I only got for 100 bucks and the lamp does work but they want four grand for that lamp. They want to pay me four grand for that lamp and I’m gonna highballing them Stating yeah, that lamp is worth a bit more because it’s all Latin lamp that was converted to electric at the turn of the electricity age and it was all home converted so truly want that lamp because it’s actually made with stuff, World War II medals and all that and it’s supposed to be stronger I don’t know. PS sorry for the auto correct

I normally have one of those Christmas place in Michigan type of perfume dropper thing and it gets all the way back there and it’s made out of glass that can scrape off anything or truly want to get rid of the metal shavings mic or strip off pencil and I would wipe the microfiber strip, mock with pencil, pushing onto the microfiber strip pump and fix the motorand gun with your pencil and you get the rest and your race with the sun on it. Make sure brand new.

One tool that Axler helps me out for moving around very very heavy object set or standardly so hard to move there. You can barely move it with one hand. I actually made a hook forged actually basically it is a long rod with a hook at band in line with the handle That goes down then back up then the long handle would be around 2 feet and a few inches then you make this little round thing for your fingers to go into two of them at least and you make some room on the back for you pinky for your index and will help you get more little bit more grip on there and you can actually pull with a lot more strength through the piece of metal rather than your fingers and can cut both fans and yank stuff and I can lift up roof tracks with that suckerand it doesn’t have too thick but half inch if you truly want something heavy duty super PSR for AutoCorrect
