I'm so glad you're giving it another go! I watched the first 2 bg1 videos you did and was sad when it wasn't continued. I've really wanted to watch a good new bg fan go back to the original games as they were my introduction to gaming as a kid

I was there for the first series, and got Deja vu when YT told me about this one. Buckle up, here we go again! Sneaky edit: I'm glad the belt got mentioned, and the XP thing is why sometimes I liked running with a smaller party; Split it four or five ways, instead of six.

This is such a great game. Love that you are doing all thse. Apparently it's easier to have a mix of good and evil characters if you can get Xan in your party because he is quite the peacekeeper. You don't get him until chapter 2 or close too it though. I would never trade Garrick for Montaron though. You can just make Xzar alone go into a building you will never go in again and then reform the party to keep the useful little guy without his annoying companion.

I didn't check out your channel yet, but if you decided to play BG2, I hope you still played the tutorial, because in BG2, you keep the XP you gained in the tutorial for your actual play-through. I picked up BG3 during the Steam winter sale, and I have to say, my heart sunk the moment I met my fourth companion and they told me that my party was already full. I haven't managed to pick it back up again since then, four-member parties make me feel like I'm playing an inferior game. 😭

Not sure if you get the information during the video, but the amount of companions is determined by your charisma. it was something like every 2 charisma one companion up to 5 max. And i was shocked to hear people really suggest to let dogmeat die. As far as save scumming will carry my dog, he will go with me.

Atribute scores work in mystrious ways. in BG1 BG2 and with that means. A lot of the times they do not do anything at all. Fighters and barbarians want CON as high as possible. Everybody else con 16 Everybody wants DEX as high as possible(However there are gloves to overwrite that score) People interested in Melee want str as high as possible (However there are plenty of ways to overwrite that score by various buffs) Everybody else just want enough str to carry their equipment Wizzards want INT as high as possible(And bards to a lesser degree I guess) Everybody else does not care about INT Druids and clerics want WIS as high as possible (To a lesser degree Ranger and Paladins and people that want to do wish resting I guess) Everybody else just does not want to drop it completely. Because of saving throws Nobody really cares about charisma If your charisma is abbysmal. Just let some other character do the talking. In case of an elf cleric. That means... Con 16 Dex 19 Wis 18 and the rest does not really matter. You do not need a million reroles for that

Dual classing and multi classing in BG1 and 2 is NOT at all like Baldursgate 3 The reason is in the fine print of how much experience a level in a class cost. And how much class features you get from the level. Example : As a pure class mage you can reach level 31 in BG2 throne of Bhaal. So that means that if you sacrify 3 levels of mage you could get 3 level of fighter instead. Right? WRONG! One of the berseker mage builds is Berseker 13/ Mage 28... You get 10 more levels out of dual classing that you might expect... The reason that dual classing in BG1 /BG2 is so much more powerful is than multiclassing is Because for multiclassin you have the same level of XP in both classes. Dual Classsing on the other hand allow you some control how much XP goes to the first class and how much to the second And you can min max that to better results. But again... to do that min maxing and come out on top. You should know what you are doing. So this is better left to later playthroughs..

The Bonus of Human is allowing access to more classes than any other race In particular: Dual classing. And many of the strongest character builds rely on dual classing If you want to go KensaiMage, Berseker/Mage, Berserker/Cleric., Kensai Thief... Human is the only opion. And let me point out that the race features of other races are mere trinkets compared to running arround with a Berserker/Mage... However dual classing is a bit tricky. And I would not recommend it for the first play through.

Tipp: In AD&D not ever race can chose every class. The most important question in which race to pick is: Does it allow you to play the class you want?

literally moved everything to one of the lockers and took as much back as i could and came back for the rest.

I just beat the game for the first time. I played it using the 1in2 mod, super easy to install. Just need both games and if you're like me and got them through epic for free you have to install your files in the English folder. Bit late for you but hope this helps someone!
