Hospitals do not want to take the time to train techs from scratch who have zero knowledge which is why they will only work with training/education schools for externships. School is probably going to be your only option. Either way you should purchase the manual and do self study. If you decide to do online training though you will be much much more likely to be hired and will be setup to get your certification at completion of training which is usually 3-4 months self paced. Those are all great questions. For the hard on the body part, yes most healthcare jobs are hard on the body with standing etc. however, sitting too much is linked to many unhealthy diseases so pros and cons to choose from. Yes you can absolutely work for a private surgeon as a surgical tech, it usually pays better too. The other questions about technical training and processes will make great videos for me to script and put together so thank you for this info my friend!

You can become a surgical tech completely online and make quite a bit more than 35-40 a year. Follow this link: surgicaltechonline.com/ Surgical Tech and Sterile Processing Tech are different jobs. Surgical Techs handle the instrumentation in surgery helping assist with surgical procedures. Sterile Processing Techs handle the instruments after surgery with cleaning, disinfection and sterilization. Two very different jobs that touch the same instruments. As for blood and hazards, that is just part of healthcare and why it is very important you follow the rules and where the appropriate protective equipment you are issued. Most cuts or mistakes happen because people choose not to follow rules and then end up getting themselves hurt for no reason.

Depending on the IFU of the instruments, stainless steel can be run in a sterrad machine. So I’m not sure what you are asking. Are they running instruments that are not approved for sterrad? And what do you mean is the video worthy?

Well first it depends on the IFU. And second, it really has to do with will those instruments go directly from the sink to the ultrasonic, or will they sit in line waiting as all the chemical residues dry on them?

It’s not helpful that Penn Foster is basically paying extra money to study on your own and they don’t even find you an externship. That is why Preppy is hands down the best Sterile Processing training program.

I’ve graduated from Penn foster and studied on my own as well. It’s been a lot because I don’t have that experience. I don’t want to feel like I wasted my money and can’t get into the field

@@thesterileguy Yessir! I am awaiting a phone call from them now. I just wanted to be sure I could get an externship that would help get me hired in an offsite SPD or Hospital. I’d like to hit the ground running and be in a leadership position in the next 2-3 years. I don’t want to chill in a Dental Center 😅

I'm unsure how to correspond which exact chapters are necessary and which aren't to the exam content outline. you didn't really explain how the chapters you listed are pertinent. you just provided which chapter are and aren't included

You’re not watching the most recent video on the new CRCST testing, that video is over a year old. There is a newer one and it explains everything in the video.

They are all updated to the 9th edition manual and ready for the new version of the test coming out in September.
