Dam maintainance is only something I think about since Oroville. This video is another short lesson on what is needed to keep a dam (or reservoir) in good conditon.

Today I leaned a new word in Japanese. "せせらぎ" Seseragi - Brooke or small stream. See? Learning is happening! 「リラッ?クス」は日本語で使われる言葉ですか ごめん 私は日本語があまり上手じゃないです

For our area starting irrigation involves installing boards into a diversion dam that causes the Sacramento river to rise high enough to allow water to enter the ACID canal.

I can just imagine that handle breaking with the amount of debris I had to clean out of our messy ditch every time we irrigated. lol. 😂

Thank you for your comment.😊 Actually, I made this tool myself to use for cleaning the waterway!
Do you suffer a lot of soil erosion on the waterways if they overflow? It looks like there has been some damage just where it goes underground. 水路が溢れると土壌浸食がひどくなりますか? 地下に流れ込む部分で被害が出ているようです。 (Google で翻訳)

Thank you for your comment.😊 That’s correct! This part of the waterway is prone to flooding, and although it was repaired once, heavy rain caused it to collapse again.

Thank you for the lesson. I was aware of the method of producing charcoal, but a practical demonstration is illuminating. Since you mentioned that you were using oak, I have to assume different woods produce different qualities of charcoal. I wish you success in your next batch.

Cocco san, I am not a farmer and I have never been interested in this activity before, but over the last few months, I have watched 100's of videos about rice farming! I think the entire process is fascinating!! The water channels that you use are so interesting. Some fed by river water, and some just by mountain rain water. The system for diverting the water and channelling it into fields is amazing!! I think that some of these waterways are new, and some of them are very old? I love the maintenance of them and the management of them; it is so interesting! In fact, the whole business of rice farming - from planting to harvest is so compelling! Thank you for your wonderful video.

An impfressive system of irrigation channels. How long does it take until a field is 'watered'?
@unclecocco27 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment.☺️ There are 20 rice fields in total, and it took four days to complete the watering of all of them.

How old is this waterway? What is the drop from top to bottom? Where in the country is it? Who built it?
@unclecocco27 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment.☺️ This waterway was built nearly 100 years ago by a local landowner. It is approximately 1.5 km long, but the elevation difference is only about 7 meters.
Why start from upstream? If you start from downstream and work up, the water should help you clear itself. It must not matter much when it's so clogged?
@unclecoccoАй бұрын
Thank you for your comment.☺️ If we let the water flow as it is, the leaves will quickly clog it, causing the water to overflow. That's why we are removing the leaves little by little like this.

Beim nächsten Regen und stürmen fallen noch alle Blätter wieder in den Abfluss rein. Was bringt das?
@unclecoccoАй бұрын
Vielen Dank für Ihren Kommentar! In autumn, this channel stops the water flow. In spring, it starts flowing again. Therefore, if the fallen leaves that accumulated over the winter are not removed, it will get clogged.
