Im here trying to mix it some but its impossible i cant find the correct amount it only gives a " example 2:1 in the bottles yet Google gives 20 different ratios others give you other ratios wtf is it for a small project ffs for example 20g of resin to 20g of hardner just give me a accurate measurement not examples

Struggling to make a mould for a dished shield at the moment but after watching your videos I've realised the importance of a good sized flange area, we currently haven't been doing that! Back to the drawing board for round 2, thank you for the education!
@Sephlarite2 ай бұрын
i still dont understand why you need a huge flange area never made fiberglass mould, i just wanna use the fiberglass though, why cant i just have the replicated peice and nothing else
@larrycluness54382 ай бұрын
@@Sephlarite we've found out that it's very much required! I'm involved currently in a small project where we're making quite a few dome shaped shields about 600mm in dia. We started making moulds where it was just the shape of the shield and we found that the edge was always weak and usually got damaged when taking it out of the mould. We then started making moulds with a flat flange area around the actual shape and we can now leaver the two flanges apart and use wodden wedges to sperate the two items without causing any damage to the actual item that we're trying to make. We also made the mould much stronger and resined on a timber frame to the underside to stiffen things up. The flange only needs to be big enough to achieve a minimum area of about 40 - 50mm at it's narrowest part, it can be seen as waste but it greatly helps to get a decent product.

Nice tutorial you were clear and concise on what to you're supposed to do. I do have a question, I have a board and the previous owner repaired dings with some sort of light blue colored filler and when I took it to a professional to ask about it, he said they probably dyed the filler so is it possible to add dye to this putty so that all the ding repairs match in color?

How much resin did you use for the bottom?
@esaleh92504 ай бұрын
This might be a silly question, but can you dilute the catalyst? Essentially we need the ratio of resin to catalyst to be like 10:1, could that be possible with polyester resin or it's fundemantly not possible?

This is a good tutorial. The part about using heat to drive out the water and flow in the adhesive seems critical. I personally am going to try JB Weld Plastic Bonder (2 part polyurethane...). It is basically "panel bond" as I understand it, and Plastic Bonder claims to be flexible (makes sense if it is truly polyurethane), which is what I really need to repair the leaky seam in the bow of my aluminum starcraft boat. That part of the boa takes a beating and previous repair (epoxy I think)...has cracked and is leaking. Wish me luck.
