The 50s ones are the most iconic to me. If only for the fact that the heat ray noise and the pulsing before it fires are so ingrained to my mind that even if I ever hear them anywhere else, that’s where my mind goes. And those fuckers had me scared of the streetlight outside my bedroom window for weeks.

Being torn out of your house is a completely different, and in my opinion, much more fear inducing vibe than that of the ferry scene and i think i would have preferred this over that if forced to choose. I think it also would have done a much better job at cementing the "you can't hide" than the probe scene too.

The 1953 is technically not a tripod. While some say with the three repulsor emitters to hover and should be considered as a tripod. That's not how that works otherwise drones should be considered quadruped. By definition a tripod is "a three-legged stand for supporting a camera or other apparatus". Hints why in Greek translates to "Three foot". So no. Not a tripod. However; I do agree they should be labeled under what the tripods are called in the book as "Fighting Machines".

I still don't understand: the novel does not mention a visible ray of light, there is only a flash, but most of the films show that there was a visible ray, like a laser. So was there a visible ray or not in the novel? Just give me your opinion

I just received the German 3d blu ray of this movie. I haven’t watched it yet. This edition has a Dolby Atmos audio track, unlike the Australian version. It doesn’t have the extended cut though and no extra features.

That's Awesome 👍🏻, I didn't realise it had been released in Germany , I just checked it out on Amazon, looks pretty cool and a decent price. The company that made the Australian disc (random space media ) went out of business so it's good to see this movie is available elsewhere in 3D. Thanks for sharing
