It's superb. It shows that the Martians are actually peaceful having not had wars themselves for millenia, but are forced to invade Earth out of sheer desperate necessity. It's also very often used in the War of the Worlds Musical Live show.

I just noticed that during the POV shot from inside the fighting machine, now that the lines were removed, you can see some sort of liquid dripping down the side of the martian. A disgustingly cool detail, too bad the lines obscured most of it.

The source describes them as glistening, although this is an illusion. Most likely the pilot is "sweating" (I don't think Martians have glands like earthly animals, but still some form of excretion) from a combination of, as you mentioned, the earthly climate - the source took place during a sweltering summer - and the fact that they haven't had to use these machines for extended periods in over 5,000 years. Short jaunts across the Martian surface is one thing - staying in the cramped fighting compartment of a weaponized/modded glorified taxi for days is another.

It's still grainy, fuzzy, and blocky in places. I don't think any amount of AI upscaling will improve the cutscenes, as the source from the game was to bad a quality to begin with. The original, uncompressed source from Rage Software would be better to work from, but getting a hold of that is probably impossible at present as the developer is now defunct. Still, this looks far better than the games original cutscenes. **Edit** This was uploaded a year ago, so maybe it can be upscaled better using a better AI upscale program and algorithm, and in 4k as well.

While I love how this shows just how desperate the Martians were of needing a new home which started the invasion, I also love how this also subtly tells you just how ready for war Humanity is. The Martians haven't needed weaponry for over 5000 years which means they have had no wars for as long of a time. Mankind on the other hand has been at war with itself for (As far as I'm aware.) as long as we have existed. Technology may be inferior but our capacity for warfare far outweighs theirs and they invaded expecting it to be nothing more than pest control. So they were in for a good thrashing when they first arrived, but they learnt and adapted, which is why they still defeated Humanity in the end.
