How do you do piano lessons? In person? An app? Virtual teacher? Recorded lessons? ❤
@HomeschoolGlue10 сағат бұрын
We do in-person but I may use Hoffman Academy for my other kids if there are no available spots

We kicked off homeschool kindergarten last fall in an rv out of state for two months! Definitely no “room” lol then I got used to just having her curl up next to me, so now she just grabs her school bin and pulls up a chair next to my living room chair and we do school like that for the most part or at her kid size table right in front of my chair. My younger two are free to play in the living room while we do school so it’s pretty laid back.

I love it!! Mine usually don’t do well when we move to the couch for whatever reason. I think because my youngest daughter gets thrown off the routine and then interrupts a lot.

Something similar happened to my father, also in carpentry. He started woodworking from home, refinishing furniture, creating his own wood projects and selling online. My brother helped him with the online stuff. Maybe you could help him with that if that is an interest.

Oh man I’m glad he was able to use his skills! Unfortunately my dad either can’t do stuff or is just very apprehensive. He believes he’s can’t so he won’t try. He will do little things like assemble furniture bought at a store or little home maintenance stuff but that’s about it.

I've been thinking about homeschooling my oldest bc he's really struggling with reading in school. 😞 He's only in 1st grade and it just doesn't seem like he's getting any help in public school over it. They're doing 100th day of school and valentines day party and star student. Idk it's just frustrating bc I'm teaching him every evening for an hour anyway. 🙃 Any suggestions for reading? Also the math is too easy in school and he finishes in literally 1 min and they don't go over important things. Idk it's just all frustrating.

Well firstly I will just say, every child learns as their own pace. My oldest took a couple years for reading to click and now she devours books. She hated and resisted reading before it became easy for her. My second daughter is in first grade and it’s taking some time for her as well but it’s starting to fall into place now for her as well. The problem is that schools want kids learning everything on the same timeline and that’s just not realistic. I honestly wouldn’t work an extra hour at night at that age. More than anything, I try to foster a love for reading by reading a lot to them. When I push my kids harder when they aren’t ready, they resist more. So in that situation, I would read a lot to my child and you could try doing early readers with him to encourage him to read, but I wouldn’t push it hard and turn him off from it when he’s in school a lot of the day already.

@HomeschoolGlue Yes I agree, he told me he hates reading, which was like a dagger in my heart. 😥 I know it's not true bc he loves when I read books to him. But it's super frustrating... even to me and I'm an adult. I was hoping working on it every night for an hour would help to get him caught up. It definitely makes me think about homeschooling, though. I work from home full time, so it would be challenging. Glad to see you back though! I've used a lot of your ideas in general and it is really helpful! 🙂

A good ol classic Sarah homeschool room tour ❤️ Your channel is like when I watch nostalgic shows from the 90s, it's just a comforting feeling. That might be weird lol but I have been watching your channel for years so it's a familiar happy thing!

I’m not doing full-time daycare anymore. Just watching kids before and after school
@kimberlysymonds7517Күн бұрын
@ oh yes I am fully aware, I’ve still been following you on Facebook and Instagram I remember when I had my 4th I had mostly only before and after school daycare kids. So during the day when my older kids were at school I had some one on one time with my 4th But then I had my 5th and 6th in the last 4yrs and it makes more sense to do full time daycare during the school day. Daycare kids are gone by 4. And my own kids come home at 4 from school & then that’s our family time I still could never Home School my own kids. And wish my house would stay as tidy and organized as yours

If you homeschool, do you have a separate homeschool room? If not, where do you homeschool typically?
@rachelday9585Күн бұрын
No separate rooms. My kids often do school in their rooms

When I closed my home daycare (which was our whole lower level) I really thought we would use it as a homeschool space, but instead we do school on the couch or dining table. I do use part of our daycare space for curriculum/supplies storage. We may get down there eventually when my kids are older but for now I need to be able to work in the kitchen while we’re doing school!

We use our dinning room and our living room. We have wall space in the dinning room and have a dining bench with storage. Our dinning room is attached to the living room and we use 4 big billy bookcases from ikea. We are book -a-holics over here and it’s still not enough space 🤣 we use the bookshelves though for toys also though, so as kids get older we will have less toys and more space for books.

Wow, no wonder you've been gone, that's a lot to be working with and creating videos is no small task. Congratulations on your baby boy! And you really don't need to apologize for showing emotion... especially in terms of your father and your son. I cried with you because of the joy I felt for you. What a wonderful gift. 🥰
