Do you still use this tent? My big issue is that the Velcro loops that hold the rain fly onto the poles are glued not sewn on and simply detached. I would like to sew them back on but don’t know exactly where. Dangerous if rain fly fails at wrong time and not very sustainable if I end up having to throw it away.

It’s been awhile. I believe that I got it in 2017, practiced setup a couple of times then stored a couple of years in bedroom closet(live in temperate SF Bay Area) while raising little kid. 2019 summer overnight in Yosemite High Country - first and only use, at disassembly, tent was literally falling apart. I think I know where to sew the door retention straps but not the 4 remaining Velcro loops that attach to frame. Photo of inside/underneath fly or verbal description of where they attach would be helpful. Is there a Velcro loop for the “short” pole up top?

No one ever mentions security. What about getting robbed or murdered when you’re sleeping?
@DavidWahlman
@DavidWahlman 3 жыл бұрын
My opinion would be that no one talks about it because it's not a big deal. The odds of being robbed (while in the car sleeping) are even lower than the odds of your car being broken into while parked like normal. And odds of murder, unless you parked in Compton blocking a gang member's driveway, are also extremely low. No one talks about it because it's just statistically not an issue. You're less likely to be robbed while living in your car than every other citizen not living in the car. A robber isn't going to steal stuff from a car that has someone inside.

Nice honest review!! Definitely shows too the differences between likes and dislikes depending on preference. I have come full circle with sleeping bags! I purchased your bags little brother the 22 degree lamina z flame some years back and loved it!! Even the interior shell material is very soft on the skin. I sold mine because of some of the same reasons. Compressebility and weight. Even though at the time of 22 degree bags release it was the lightest synthetic bag on the market for its temp rating. I wanted to go ultralight so i went with down and tight mummy style. Well i hated it!! The treated down got damp and was nearly useless.! The tight mummy construction gave me no room to move around. I like alot of room. So i recently bought the old lamina z flame again and could never be happier. Not too worried about losing the pound of weight anymore. I want comfort!! I found room in my pack and will never look back lol that rhymed. Im sticking to synthetic insulation from here on!! I will save weight in other areas. Sleep is too important! Stay safe! Hike on!!

Hey Jaquelyn, sorry it didn't cover the answers you were looking for, but to answer your question, most probably don't address it because it's pretty basic. Windows don't have to be cracked much in order to give safe margin for Carbon Dioxide (when I was in cold places, I'd only crack the window closest to my head maybe .5"). If you're cold, it would be assumed to get a warmer sleeping bag, blanket, or baselayer (or all the above) depending on your setup. If you're hot, there isn't a great remedy that's any different from being hot any other time in your life. You open windows as much as you can, sleep ontop of the bed, have a mister bottle, a small fan, or anything else people do to try and stay cool. None of the above are tips exclusive to car living which is my guess as to why no videos talk about it. Forums do though if you Google it. Hope that helps, best of luck!

Because it's not that big of a deal. In one 6 week trip I experienced 100°F + humidity and bellow freezing in the mountains. On hot days I put screens over my door and open the window, add a fan and sleep with a thin sheet so your body doesn't stick together. During heatwave it's equally hot in my house and since there's no sun at night, it's fine. During the day parking in the shade or moving. Now in the cold I wore fleece pants, thermal socks, fleece sweeter and twice I slept with my thin puffy jacket which was comfortable. In my sleeping bag I wasnt cold at all and your body heat the car, the car is never cold in the morning even when it was outside. Putting reflextics in your windows also keeps you warmer in the cold or cooler in the heat. Another option is getting a 12-volt electric blanket. I wouldn't sleep overnight with it but it could be comfortable when chillin in your car. I traveled with my than 8 year old daughter and she didn't complain once. It's really not a big deal. Good choice of clothing, proper bedding, and extras like netting, window coverings, fans and such makes living pretty comfy. I'm even the type who feel cold easily and can trigger my asthma in the heat, so far no issues. Oh and plenty do acknowledge it, I've watched a ton but they usually make specific videos about living in cold temps or hot temps. The overall opinion is similar to mine, get the right set up and it's fine.

Hey Deborah, sorry that you found it disappointing. I haven't followed up on the company to keep track of them, so I have no idea if they're still active or not. Like I said in the video though, they sent it to me, so it was just my preliminary thoughts. I still have it and have used it a few times and it's been helpful when needed, but I don't use it enough to say it's worth the storage space all the times not used. Yes, sorry it was so much talking, but you clearly have't tried to film something happening under a moving car while you're by yourself trying to drive and replicate something that only shows the product's use in an instance where you have to get stuck first (again risky when in the middle of no where by yourself). No hurt feelings, but just be aware of what goes into creating a video before you slam someone for it. And also I've responded to every comment ever posted to my channel, but at one point I migrated my channel to a different google account and the deletion of it removed all comments. I wasn't going to go back and reply a second time to 2-3 year old comments.

Hey NMG, I can't see why it would be any different from any other time your car needs a repair. If your car HAS to be worked on for multiple days, then unfortunately your options are more limited. You can grab a tent and campsite, a hotel nearby, or find the couch of a friend for a few days. A majority of repairs don't require multiple days in actual labor, more just that the shop is busy, waiting on parts, or you're in a queue.
