Idk I would say Japanese climbers are the best in the world, and I doubt any of them lift a lot. They’re so springy and flexible. Who’s to say the rest of the world wouldn’t climb harder if they didn’t lift.

i mean at least i can pull 8mm with two arms comfortably enough to do a pullup but how tf is one armed even possible? it already hurts like shit when the weight is distributed over both my hands but one armed - the edge would just bury itself into my finger, no?

Sorry but it is not true, a 100kg person would never climb a V7-V10 boulder and if you weight less like 60-75kg you very likely to easily climb V10+, just look around at your own gym, all the very strong climbers are skinny or lean none are overweight.

"If you believe it is true for you, but it is not true for others, then it is not true at all." Your skill level and confidence at an activity such free-soloing, means nothing when discussing the danger of it. Just because you're skilled, and you know the routes, you've done it 100 times, and know how to convince yourself, does not make the activity any less dangerous. As an experienced climber if you fall, you suffer the same consequences as an inexperienced climber. The danger of it remains the same despite if the probability or likelihood varies. You fall the same as anyone else. Saying anything else is for your own benefit and for your own state of mind when you climb.

3 fingers drag … ur fingers do not have equal length, so its just safer. If you add 4th finger u change ffom open hand to crimp, and the tendon angle dramatically changes and its just stupid, u are asking to get injured.

Doesn’t the first ascent make the route? This is like saying the test was easy when you had the entire cheat sheet. That guy prolly sat on holds for minutes trying to figure out the next step whereas the other guy just had to study the route already climbed.

How could you over grade it over a route you never climbed, then say because I didn’t want to not because I couldn’t. Lol downgrade on your route proves you completely wrong there bud
@WellingtonIronmanАй бұрын
People gave James a hard time for grading Walk of Life. But before he did it, he went and repeated Equilibrium, an E10, had flashed two V13 boulders (a grade which had never been flashed before by anyone), and completed two projects on grit which had never been done before including the Groove at Cratcliffe, a route which had been written off as basically impossible.

The barefoot Charles one? He’s had proposed v17 been downgraded before. Because he climbs without shoes it’s a very different experience, wouldn’t be surprised if it got downgraded too
@chazottАй бұрын
@@jonathanyes112 ironically No Kpote Only was the last v17 to be downgraded. If Charles proposed it today, with the grade hype that exists in 2024, it may not have been downgraded. The same guy who downgraded it (Nico Pelorson) also proposed a downgrade of Soudain Seul years later, but his proposal was denied. No Kpote Only has not been repeated for years, and is probably a hard V16 or low end V17 for most climbers. Nico's beta was to reach past the crux so his method likely only works for the tall. I'd be really interested to see Bosi try No Kpote Only as well, to see how it compared to other V17s. Regarding the roof crack, I expect no one will be repeating that for many years to come.
@alexenders6839Ай бұрын
@@chazottalso another climber repeated no kpote only and suggested a grade of 8b+ (V14)... I don't know if you can call this climb close to V17 (with shoes on). Btw there is no "grade hype" going on right now. People just got stronger and send harder stuff nowadays.

I'm 72 and started free soloing 25 yrs ago. I've done original routes in northern Thailand, and some messing around in Namibia and SW USA. Like most climbers, I've got stories enough to fill books. Examples: Once in northern CA, coming up to two baby rattlesnakes, open mouthed, centimeters from my face. In Thailand, a large nest of giant hornets - got stung twice on a hand. I've been pooped on by owls, and attacked by leaf-weaver ants. Once, a fire came up a steep hill, and had to duck behind the a small boulder to avoid being rotisserated. Hundreds of stories, ...I don't regret a moment.
