Still mad about this scene, it was so important towards Charlie’s character development

I understand Michael's death was hard on both Charlie and Susan But that's when friends need each other the most and the fact that Susan just rejects Charlie is very heartbreaking especially since its the 1st day of High School and she was the only one he really knew 😭

This is without a doubt my favorite film, I like to think that this film and book is based on my life, I like the songs that appear in the film, even if anyone knows what song this is in the scene please tell me, I like the songs too In this film, everything is perfect, I just felt sad because they removed this very important and crucial scene from the film because that way we would know what was going on in Charlie's thoughts regarding his sadness at losing a friend.

So this scene shows that Susan says he can't sit with her because she's sad that Michael, her boyfriend committed suicide. That's why she's not ready to. That's the only reason why she is not ready with him is because she's too depressed that her boyfriend killed himself.

I think this scene should have been in the ending. It shows Charlie and Candace coming together again after they drifted apart, and that she really loved and cared about him. Such a sweet scene from Nina.

Io avrei voluto vedere questa scena almeno il film avrebbe avuto più senso e ci sarebbe stato sicuramente un rapporto più stretto tra Charlie e la sorella

I can't remember the film I really need to rewatch it, but in the book, their family's relationship (as in between the parents and three siblings NOT extended family) was one of the best families I've ever read because they had their problems but they loved each other. Especially between the siblings, they argued and fought but they cared so much.

Sometimes, we don't wanna sit or talk to others who you are with so much because you feel sad and lost all hope following another loved one you had who passed away.
@MassimoCalderaro-u8h5 ай бұрын
I'm sorry for her loss. I understand why she's not ready to talk with or sit with Charlie. Susan doesn't wanna sit or talk with Charlie because she feels depressed that her boyfriend ended his life recently and the name of his was unknown and unidentified.
@MassimoCalderaro-u8h4 ай бұрын
Never mind, it is identified. His name was Michael.
@MassimoCalderaro-u8h5 ай бұрын
It doesn't mean they are not friends anymore, it's not like that. They will also be near each other, it's just that as you look at her because she's depressed because her boyfriend killed himself and I think Charlie does feel bad about it and feels sorry for her loss and I think he's reacting to her demeanor very serious and I think she's just not ready to talk to Charlie or either his friends. Maybe she's just not ready because she's too sad to.
@MassimoCalderaro-u8h5 ай бұрын
The reason she can't say hi for much longer is because she lost her boyfriend. It doesn't mean she doesn't like Charlie anymore still.
@MassimoCalderaro-u8h5 ай бұрын
She's saying, You can't sit with me, because she's depressed due to her boyfriend's suicide. So she doesn't wanna talk to him because she is too sad because of her boyfriend killing himself.
@MassimoCalderaro-u8h5 ай бұрын
Just because Susan says you can't sit with me by calling him an old friend doesn't mean they don't care about each other. They will always be friends, always. And still like or love each other. I think she was just not ready.

After reading the book, I was so upset that they had left most of the sibling plot lines out... and now you're telling me they filmed a pivotal moment showing why charlie called her and they cut it from the movie?!
@michaelrichardella265211 ай бұрын
Not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but how the poems progress, what's important to the writer, as a younger person it's his dog and autumn. In his older years his love life. Just goes to show you how things change, and that everyone feels it. Life isn't just a childhood. It takes some people years to figure that out, some never even do.

Man, seeing the awkwardness of the family and how to react after Charlie is back home is completely relatable. After I got back home from my stay at a mental hospital following my suicide attempt, my parents were happy I was out sure but there was this lingering though that a normal life at home isn't possible after what had happened. It's like my parents still felt like they failed in showing that they care and are still wondering how to treat/react to me being back. While I didn't have the same situation Charlie went through, this scene really continues to speak volumes to me
