You made a mistake here. The gold standard wasn't when stuff started to break down with debt. The gold standard is in and of itself a scam in todays society. Even 500 years ago, there was never enough money to be traded for the gold it represented. In a vid you made years ago you were on the right track on how a currency should be seen for a just and fair society to thrive. Money is to represent labour, not gold. Afterall it is the labour put into getting the gold that makes it valueable, if it required no labour but was still in limited supply it would be worth a lot less. Way less. Let me give you an example. Let's say that we have a society, and in this society gold randomly rains down, very rarely and very short supply. This would be akin to finding new gold, e.g. new gold comes into circulation. And, for the sake of argument, let's assume there is as much gold per capita as we have. Do you think gold would be worth more or less? Less of course because that society doesn't have to pay anyone for the labour needed to find the gold, it just randomly rains and pretty much pops into existence. Paper or whatever can take it's place, but I would need an essay to explain further and I don't feel like typing out an essay as to why currency should be seen as a representation of labour.
