hahaha sometimes people get mad when I don't put them all in absolute banger, but like, I feel like that just wouldn't make for a good video. I like to try and look at them a little more critically so I'm glad you enjoyed my approach!

And I am really liking these pokemon theme tier lists, this is actually the last one in your channel I watched, I binged all of them in almost one go! Good content, def waiting for more, my favourite tier list (for now) is the villain themes one, really enjoyed that vid!

I’m really glad you’ve been enjoying these tier lists though! There will definitely be more in the future, but in the meantime, I’d highly recommend some of the gameplay oriented Pokémon vids I’ve done too. @@aurora_x86 my point more stems from the idea of having a true antagonistic force if that’s the route they’re going to go with a character. That doesn’t mean every villain has to be a turbo crazy world ending bad guy, but if someone is written as the villain of a story I want them to be interesting or have actually fleshed out motives. It’s what I loved about Cyrus in gen 4 and ghetsis in gen 5 because they made themselves more and more clear as the games progressed, and in turn the events unfolding based on their decisions felt like they had more weight to them. I personally like having antagonistic forces that add stakes to the games, so when there isn’t really one and some huge event happens seemingly out of nowhere to try and force those stakes on the player, it just feels shoehorned in. Idk, it’s all a preference thing at the end of the day, it’s one of the only things I found myself missing in most of scarlet and violet.

@ thats fair. ive just never felt that pretty much any of the villains were very strongly written characters (partially excluding ghetsis) because they have like 0 dynamic with any of the protagonists. they all feel kinda forced and shoehorned to me for that reason

@ yeah I can certainly see that point for sure. I’d love for more villains to have a real back and forth dynamic with the protagonist beyond just telling them “I’m evil” and then fighting and doing that a bunch until the game is over hahaha. That’s part of what made Volo so appealing to me in legends arceus, would love to see that sort of dynamic expanded on even more!

Hey Phoenix, the tier list underneath was based on the evil leader themes, not how they are as overall villains or anything. Sorry if that was confusing! The full video is on my channel if you'd like to watch it, but yeah, this was just a conversation we had during a different activity haha

@@demonic_myst4503 look I never said the writing for these evil villains was great or anything, I just want there to be a true villain again that I’m meant to hate. Ghetsis worked really well in that regard, where he was an interesting villain with clearly evil intentions that put the player in high stakes situations. More Ghetsis, less Chairman Roses haha

the evil teams in gen 7 and 8 were the aether foundation and macro cosmos, and gen 9 tried to have a more nuanced story than one so simple as "good vs evil"

Hey thank you! I can definitely see why some people would not vibe with it as much, it's a bit out there as a theme, but man, that theme does a lot of good stuff for my brain haha. A handful of people have mentioned it was only in base S/M but I guess I just never heard it or forgot I did because it sounded brand new to me while doing this list. It is very cool in the moment that's for sure! That game's context adds a lot to the experience of the themes, but when ranking them isolated from the games, the Legends Arceus themes can be a bit hit or miss. If anything it's a testament to how well crafted that game was though, the themes work so well in almost every context within the game! Appreciate you checking this one out regardless!

I don't deny it being a great song! My reasoning for it being lower on this list was very specific in the video so I think most people understood why I had it lower. There were a handful of themes that made it into the top tier that I hadn't even heard before, so nostalgia wasn't even necessary for those, they just fit this specific list super well. I was jamming out to the Colress theme, and if it was a differently themed list, I think it'd absolutely find its way into the highest of tiers. Thanks for checking this one out though, I appreciate it!

@@truegreen7 hahaha thanks man! That morherbeast theme is legitimately one of the coolest surprises I’ve ever run into while doing one of these lists, just an incredible theme. The only reason I never got around to finishing the game was because a buddy and I were doing a Nuzlocke in it years ago and his life got too busy to be able to finish it, so I’ve never gotten around to beating it on my own. I think that’s gonna change pretty soon though with some plans I have so we’ll see how that goes. Always great to see you here man, hope all is well!

@@wardious2562 LMAO a lot of people have seemed to live the colress theme and rightfully so! It’s a super vibey theme, the Penny theme has just always gotten me going like that in the video. Hasn’t heard the colress one for a while before making this vid so I’d forgotten how great of a theme it was, if it wasn’t on an “evil team leader” list it’d probably be higher up for sure.
