Promiňte, neumím to vyjádřit český 😢 There is some other piece to this puzzle when -s gets added to the verb. I am not entirely sure the examples below are the right Czech. I hope you can shed some light. byls tam? bylas tam? dělals to? dělalas to? etc. It would be great to learn such uses, whatever is correct. Děkuju Zuzko

"Vydělávám tak akorát" - would it correspond to "I barely make the ends meet" or does it describe a more relaxed financtial condition like "doing OK, but can't save (much)"?
@CzechbyZuzka7 сағат бұрын
It describes a relaxed financial situation - I'm earning enough money to have a comfortable life.

nice and clear presentation, as always. many thanks. can you clarify one thing for me, please? I've read from multiple sources, that there is such a form. imagine a restaurant scene with a waitress and the patron ordering. co byste doporučila vegetariánovi? the key difference here is that it isn't byste doporučili Can you explain? Is it normal? Is it formal? Is it even correct?
@CzechbyZuzka3 күн бұрын
There is one thing about "vy" - the verb referring to this pronoun can have four forms in the past tense and the conditional - depending on the gender and the number (singular vs plural). Imagine the customer asks a waiter (man): "Co byste doporučil (= vy, pane) vegetariánovi?" Now, if it's a waitress, it's as you correctly wrote: "Co byste doporučila (= vy, paní) vegetariánovi?" If there are more waiters and and at leat one of them is a man: "Co byste doporučili (= vy, pánové) vegetariánovi?" And finally, if there are two or more waitresses, it would be spelled this way, but pronounced exactly the same as the previous question: "Co byste doporučily (= vy, dámy) vegetariánovi?"

Chce se mi brečet. I feel like crying. Jaký je rozdíl mezi brečet a plakat? V opeře Rusalce od Dvořaka, vodník zpívá Rusalce “Tvoje sestry budou pro tě plakat”!
@CzechbyZuzka4 күн бұрын
Jediný rozdíl je, že "plakat" je více formální (možná se toto sloveso stává i archaickým). Pro operu je "plakat" mnohem vhodnější.

great lesson Zuzko! Thanks a lot Just one suggestion: it may leave the wrong impression that the vocative is only applicable to personal names 😊

I wanted to make it easier and more practical. But now, looking back, I know I should have at least mentioned that it's not exclusively only for names. You will see I added a lot more "meat" in 'Just in Case.'

jaky je rozdil mezi styska se mi po ni a chybi mi, je to skoro stejne jako ve videu
@CzechbyZuzka5 күн бұрын

Thank you so much for including the syntax in the video. It makes a huge difference when it comes to learning how to listen to czech sentences since they sometimes seem unpredictable in flow. Also I found the definitions 'new information' and 'old information' inadequate, but I once reasoned long ago that it might be a sort of 'hidden articles' property of sentences since the czech language doesn't use them. It's good to see you say it similarly. Definately recommend a follow up video such as; would/could be done, to be done; what happens when the verb already has se or si, půjčit se, učit se, koupit si , etc. AND there were some i would say idomatic ones similar to dat se like chci se
@CzechbyZuzka12 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment! Although I haven't covered a topic focused on word order (except for one of my earlier videos), I often include it in my videos "on the side." It's a complex topic that requires a lot of example sentences that would not fit in one single video. You are right, while the concept of "old/known information" and "new information" doesn't always work, the comparison with definite/indefinite articles seems to be more fitting. Thanks for the suggestions for the follow-up topics!
