While it's a shame that maintaining the colour seems to be near-impossible, they've developed their own kind of beauty to make up for it and still look great. I really appreciate that about quality clothing items, the more I learn and experience them myself.

Great job! I’m an owner of the Juice Scorpion and have decided to upgrade my battery to the 52V, 19.2 amp version. I’ve had my bike for a little over 4 years and currently have the same battery as you do. I’ve decided that I need more range. Thanks for your video. 😮

Fellow 998 enthusiast here. I got my first pair in 2017, and after moderate, occasional wear, my shoes at 7 years of use look like yours. I think that's probably just from the different frequencies of wear and also feet shape. Mine have been chewed on by a puppy, and I've done yard work in them, worn in the rain, day walks, etc. I definitely hear you on the clunkiness, I think that is the other side of how durable they are, compared to the 574s. My soles have held up like yours in the video, and still make a crisp dress shoe sound when I walk on hard surfaces. These could probably last another 5 years or more if you had to make them last. I got a new pair of 998s I am rotating only for nights out, etc. I'd imagine you really enjoyed wearing yours daily, maybe in workshop type settings during the first year or two. Tough shoes, with great design and value!

I love these IR with the rough out leather. I have a pair also & treated mine with a homemade balm thats mostly tallow, a bit of lard & a bit of bees wax along with a few drops of tea tree oil as an antibacterial. I applied on the “inside” & then heated them up with a hairdryer to soak it in. It ddint change the colour much at all. Theyre still going strong many years later.

I went to the local Red Wing store and tried on IR's - no dice for me! Went home and ordered Truman Boots for not much more $. Very happy now. IR's are good, but there are much better options that are local American companies and not corporations. I love my Trumans!

@@ike780 Yes, a pair came up on ebay. They are a couple years old (although barely worn) and have the black half lug sole. Also, a bit more orange than tan. I'm saving up for a new pair, either a plain/soft toe pair of Trumans or the Nick's AL64. Not sure what leather. My other boots are Allen Edmonds which I got on sale for around $200. Nice, but obviously not in the same league as Truman or the Spokane companies.

Thank you so much for the video. I have been more convinced that the iron ranger is NOT the boot for me. In between the sloppy / loose fit and the dangerously slick sole, these boots are a complete waste of $350. They look pretty, however they are less functional than a screen door on a submarine. The way that these clunky bricks make it difficult for your to shift gears looks absolutely cumbersome too. Thank you for saving me $350.

After cleaning the suede,nubuck boots with Saphir cleaner or Angelus easy cleaner,once the boots are dry,the leather will become hard and crunchy,thats cuz of the type of the leather. So you have to use a hard brush to revive and raise the nap,and they will be good as a new.

I watched your range test video and it convinced me to purchase a crosscurrent x. Mine came with a dented rim…. Same symptoms, several loose spokes. I thought it was a bubble in the tube, but I found a crease at one of the spoke nipples. Hardly can see it but annoyingly noticeable on the 2 minute ride I took :( I have been in contact with juiced and hoping for the best.

I have 1,100 plus miles on mine, I tried to take off the back tire and it was hard to do even though I have worked on bikes for many years there is a sensor in the very near the back wheel that has a tiny cable attached to it, the wires are very thin and easy to brake so be very careful with it, it is a very poor design and looks like it is designed to fail, the part that is needed to replace it costs $200.00 and last time I checked it was out of stock so apparently many people have had the problem, I can't recommend buying from Juiced because they don't care about the problems they cause bikers it seems but are more interested in making more money it seems to me. if you have the wires break the bike will still work with the throttle but it drains the battery a lot more quickly.

I bought a pair of IR Hawthorne Muleskinners this past weekend. I was on the fence about whether to keep them, how to maintain them, what the roughout might look like once it gets dirty. I appreciate you stating "This is what MY boots look like..." This is very important to consider since you wore yours every day. Mine will look totally different since I will not wear them daily, live a more sedentary lifestyle, plan to try to keep them clean, etc. Your review has persuaded me to keep them. Your IRs look well loved. Thank you!
@stevej.6674
@stevej.6674 8 ай бұрын
Dude, they look better with some wear! Even if you want to keep them for a more “sedentary” life style. Think of how raw denim jeans become more awesome with each wear & fade that develops. That’s how these boots go. It gains character. A brand new looking boot is boring and characterless! I’ve tested mine like sh!t for ages and they’re looking so cool! Ooh, just a quick FYI, I treated/nourished them from the “INSIDE” with my own dubbin concoction made with tallow, lard, lanolin and a few drops of tea tree oil as an anti microbial. Then I put them out in the sun hear the boot up & allow the stuff to soak in. DONT use stuff with neatsfoot oil which will oxidise inside the leather fibres and literally break down the fibres.

After 1.5 years, nearly daily at work, in my IR, i found the soles to be too hard. I walk on steel decks and concrete all day. I had them resoled to Vibram Christy wedge soles this month. I now see RW started offering this sole (tread lite) in IR a year ago as well. Its a game changer in all day comfort. $75 and yiur local cobbler can resole them. Or go through RW and they'll change you double for the same sole and probably have the same cobbler do them. 😂 im pretty sure they contract out their resoleing
