When I graduated from Basic Training in the Army years ago, I told myself I would never own a pair of boots that had to be broken in. Well, I own a pair of 8111 and It's taken me a couple of years to break them in. The first year I just gave up and didn't wear them because they were just too painful. The second year I decided to do it methodically and stick with it. I'm glad I did, they are great and am glad I bought them. I have narrow feet and have a difficult time finding shoes and boots that fit. These boots fit perfect. Footwear is extremely important since they support our bodies. Also make sure to wear great socks, wool socks are the best. Thanks for the video.

One trick with the hooks: tie the boots up to your preferred tightness and with those hooks you can undo the laces while keeping the laces tied. Makes for easy donning and doffing.

Got 3 pairs of Iron Rangers now, one of them being a pair of these Muleskinner, I love all of them, but I have to say these skinners are my favourite. They just have so much character to them, really interesting to look at! No point in trying to keep these pristine though, like new. It’s not going to happen. Mine are a year and a half old now and look so different, and I really wanted to keep them like new at the start but they do attract a dirt and forge patina real quick. They look super cool though! One other plus point is they seem to breathe very well on those warmer days.
@hell0all3 жыл бұрын
Yes, these things are getting better everyday.

I believe every 2 boots are cut from the same hide. That ensures those boots are the most similar in leather thickness and especially dying and coloring. No two Red Wing boots are the same. They do use thinner parts of the hide for the tongue, this makes it much easier for break in and more flexible on your instep.

I find Clarks Boots quite comfortable in dry and not too cold weather. I have the Desert Boot and yes, they soak up water and you get cold feet below 5° C. In addition you have to look where you step when you are at the gas station since the soles get damaged when you get gasoline or diesel fuel on them. But I have worn them 5 years now had got the insole replaced and still love them besides all drawbacks they have.

Love the American Redwing. Especially the heritage line. Stay away from irsh setters, they're a shifty Chinese version that redwing passes of as a quality work boot. I've owned three pairs trying to make them work. They suck and never last more than a couple of months for me. But I do love American redwing.

Heavy ! Lol Wear steel toe work boots 50 and 60hr Work week You should try the Irish setter Ashby or the wing shooter style ! Especially if you are so accustomed to tennis shoes or light weight shoes You can get them in soft toe or steel toe They really comfortable made good and resolable .and hardly any break in I think the wing shooter maybe the most comfortable boot I ever had , I also had to go down one size I’m a 13 in a tennis show but had to go down to a 12 wide . But I always suggest to try them on Irish setter is red wing too !

Oakstreet were a disappointment in person, small scaled and flimsy construction. You definitely made the right choice. If you're going to eventually spend $500 + buy White's, Nick's or used/discounted Vibergs.

After 1.5 years, nearly daily at work, in my IR, i found the soles to be too hard. I walk on steel decks and concrete all day. I had them resoled to Vibram Christy wedge soles this month. I now see RW started offering this sole (tread lite) in IR a year ago as well. Its a game changer in all day comfort. $75 and yiur local cobbler can resole them. Or go through RW and they'll change you double for the same sole and probably have the same cobbler do them. 😂 im pretty sure they contract out their resoleing

So no other care other than eraser and nap brush? Looking at RW weekender chukkas in Hawthorne and like them darker/broke in looking moreso than new and so light.

I have started hitting them this a slightly damp brush to get the dirt off first. Then the eraser then the wire brush to get the texture back. I love the look and color but i can already see it is going to be chore to keep them looking decent. I like the lived in look buuut dust and dirt is attracted lime a magnet. I’ve also avoided rain. I fear they would never be the same after a soaking. Hmm might be time for an update video lol. Good luck!
