Great video man. I just dropped my own video of this light yesterday. It’s a really amazing light and the fan noise is not an issue to my ears. I personally felt the the reverb of the location was more “problematic” than the fan from the light. Look forward to more of your videos man.

Thanks man. Yeah I think it's one of those things that's over stated. It's a great light for the price. Beats using a large and heavy HMI like the old days.

You cannot beat black magic . The skin colours are beyond amazing. Sony just loses in skin tones and digital look , in low light yes Sony might win .

Great video. I notice you have the fresnel on that one shot, but I don’t think you discussed if it works well with this light. I have a nanlite fs-300 and tha COB is so big that it works poorly with the fresnel. Does the Fresnel really increase the intensity of the light and focus it well with the molus ? Thank you.
@films_by_aw6 күн бұрын
So yeah good spot, at the time of filming the first part of the review I had used it with the frensel but always below 50 percent brightness. It worked well with the Molus, and it did a good job, But if you use the light100 percent brightness actually starts to melt the Aputure frensel. My friend and Gaffer Stu suggested I use the F10 from Aputure instead of the small Frensel I currently have. But that's not down to the light that is a 3rd party accessory so I thought better to not mention it, as it's not Zhiyun's fault. It shows how powerful the light is

Cam A - Blackmagic & Cam B - SONY, the reds on SONY is distinguishable...Sony seems to have more warmer tones, probably because of the LUT's you used...But blackmagic seems to be more natural to my eyes... Which color is the model wearing?.. Pink or Red?... If its pink, then its a win for blackmagic color science, otherwise its SONY.. But I"m confused too, because, in several shots its evident that its RED....anyways, sony seems to have obviously an upper hand in allowing more light into sensor making the image and background more brighter than Blackmagic, which can't be ignored the fact, SONY"s the firsts choice for the night video shoots..

I'm working on my Pitch Trailer right now. 5 years in the making. But it's a great way to sell your idea. It's something "real" to show your potential actors, crew, financiers etc. A script is nothing more than a well thought out idea. It's just text on a paper. But if you can show people you actually shot something. It's so much more valuable. Love your content Anderson! I'm watching the BTS of 7x7x7 right now. Keep up the great work!

How does the Kinefinity Mavo v2 6K LF compare to the BlackMagic 6K? Since there's the new Pyxis in a box shape.
@films_by_awАй бұрын
Well I haven't compared them side by side, but overall the Kinefinity Mavo LF 2 has a better sensor ( more framecrate options etc) for sure and is better in low light. The S16K crop on the Mavo is far better imo. I do miss Pro Res in my Blackmagic 6K FF, but 6K Pro Res (in any flavour other than Proxy) is one of the most inefficient codecs out there imo. But BRAW if your clients are okay with it is better than Pro Res in almost every way. You can get 8 yes EIGHT decent CEFxpress B card for the price of 1 Kinemag. But having an E mount on the Mavo was a masterstroke as that's the most open mount for 3rd parties. UI and the OS on the Blackmagic is better (but then again it's the best) and I haven't used the Mavo since the new OS for Kinefinity came out. But at their best both sensors are both trying to emulate Arri LOG 3 (which is the best way to go imo). The Mavo LF 2 is a better camera for sure than the 6K FF, but again it's almost 3 times the cost of the 6KFF, and sadly with something like the Canon c400 coming out now at that price, I think it's a harder sell at the price. I think especially with the media costing so much Kinefinity should be selling this at the £4-4.5K price in this market imo. I had a hands on with a Pyxis briefly at an event, and I think it's the better option than the 6K FF now that the flashsale is no longer on. And if you want to compare that to the Mavo LF, I think the body if the Pyxis is better, the media is cheaper and the monitor is cheaper and has the 2nd best raw codec. But the Mavo's sensor is superior, it has pro res, more framerate options, and has a more open mount option. But it is almost 3 times the cost of the pyxis and even more than that to get it up and running (again Kinemag vs CEFxpress). So it really depends on your use case. But for the cost of a Mavo I can get a Pyxis with Laowa Ranger 28-75, Pyxis monitor, cage, loads of CEFxpress cards, and batteries. So make of that what you will.

Not sure what you mean, but if you mean why test it in meters, well for feet you just need to times the meter length by 3 and you will have your length in feet.

FX6 give wrong colors, BMCC6KFF give color similar to Arri Alexa mini LF. If you need camera i think firstly you need true colors. Mean FX6 is a bad camera against the BMCC6KFF of course if you have bad eyes maybe color science change nothing here

Dunno if you just graded it more to my liking, but the mavo was looking filmy as hell. Seems like it's more neutral? Only real big issue is the nasty nasty rolling shutter.
@films_by_awАй бұрын
To be honest it was just a basic Alexa LUT, not even Da Vinci Colour managed (which I would do now). Personally I think rolling shutter performance and how it impacts the image is fine for 95 percent of filming scenarios. I don't think most people who watch broadcast news across the world care that they are watching a camera with technically a slower readout speed (the FX9). But it's all about preference.

The FX6 makes skin look bad.
@films_by_awАй бұрын
Yikes, maybe it is the LUT, but I do prefer the skin tones of the BM6K
@empGaming_Music_MoviesАй бұрын
totally the question is can you match the color skin of 6kFF to Fx and compare? I think 6KFF win and isn't far from Arri without Iso needed.

Thanks for posting this video! I love the interior location, as I think it is a good challenge for the dynamic range of both cameras. I don't need "see-in-the-dark" ISO, but I wish Blackmagic cameras didn't loose so much dynamic range at higher ISOs. Obviously, each camera has advantages and disadvantages, so for me it comes down to my work flow preference vs preferred image quality. While I appreciate Sony's auto focus and low light capability, the skin colors still haven't improved much on these prosumer cameras. I owned a Sony FS5 for a couple years, and was never happy with the skin tones. The PCC6K has (IMHO) far better skin tones and an overall a more interesting look. For how I shoot, AF is not important, but I do rely on IBIS for hand held shots. Built-in ND filters are significant convenience over screw-on filters. Audio XLR inputs and a SDI output are also important to me. The Blackmagic Pyxis addresses some of the features I need, but omits too many of them to work for me. If they were to include ProRes codec it would be easier to work with, as many clients don't want BRAW footage. It's a frustrating design and feature set, but I'm sure it will be a great option for other shooters. I am tempted by the Canon C400 and C80 as an A+B camera combo, but they too have limitations. Everyone has their own idea of the "perfect camera", but I'll be happy to just add some features and capabilities beyond what I work with now. As a Panasonic shooter ("vintage" S1H and EVA1 cameras), I am holding out to see what the next generation of S1H will bring.
