What a lovely couple, how well spoken. Daniel was ahead of his time with this. It should have been shown regularly and updated. It may have helped race relations. The old bloke is talking rubbish, as we all know. Thank goodness he’s a dying race! I hate people like him. They think one race is the same. We are all different and and as Mac says ‘ there is good and bad in EVERYONE’

Sublime, magestic, wonderful, iconic. Brings back happier memories of childhood long past and the shows that came on straight after this ident that my ITV franchises, TVS, LWT and Thames would show if they were made by Anglia Television...I wish the old ITV franchises would be brought back with the IBA as a more stringent broadcasting regulator and broadcaster. ITV today is utter garbage by comparsion.

When my house was being re done years ago the man who did it called jim said that the anglia statue was kept here as he worked for them I was told that by my grandad years ago

Interetingly, ATV didn't follow other regions by havings it's ident in front of the news or films, the only time i remember it happening was Mike Prince announcing over the ident into an edition of Different Strokes!

I'm from Westward/TSW land. The first time I saw the first full Anglia ident I was "WOW". I still think we in the South West had the best regional TV service.

I worked for HTV in 80s and spoke to an old lag who said they had looked into colouring it for change to colour. Too expensive so we got the simplified blue/white HTV antenna thing instead.

I remember an episode of some comedy prog. on the BBC - I think it was "the Goodies" - which involved a reading of the words of the poem "The Pied Piper of Hamelin". When it got to "… open wide, and they crossed over to the other side", the ATV logo was shown - unusual on the BBC at that time! (Anyone know/got-a-copy-of the relevant episode?)
