Your lectures are way better than the ones im paying for. Lol, thank you for uploading your lectures, Professor Zandes!

These lectures are eye opening for me. I love fried things, but this is going to make me make some basic life changes to improve my nutritional status and for those I support and care for. The estimated dietary requirement is something one need to consider, never know about it. Hope to research more on it

I was wondering with your backpack analogy, wouldn't carbohydrates serve as better snacks for a hike as the energy would be more readily available?
@MrCuddleBear19 ай бұрын
Hi, late reply but if you still needed it. I believe that fat-rich foods are better because they are more caloric-dense whilst taking up much less space. They may not have the same filling to make you feel ful, such as a dried fruit vs a fresh one for the volume, but on a hiking trip, it is about having fuel in calories more than feeling full. Your energy will be wasted if you have to hike with 20 lbs of food, after all.

Honestly, it wasn’t for your lectures, I would have probably dropped my class which is self taught (online with no lectures) and condensed into 8 week course. Thank you so much for making this class easier to digest and retain information.
@moreno752 жыл бұрын
You’re truly a blessing. I am currently taking this class online (8 week course) and this video makes me cut time in half from solely reading the book and attempting to digest all of these chapters in a condense amount of time.

You mentioned a few times Lean Protein sources. Doesn't Lean protein spike insulin response more than fatty meats that slows absorption so a flatter curve? I also thought the notion that consuming dietary fats is harmful has been mostly disproven. My understanding is that the real enemies are actually Sugar, Processed and Highly Inflammatory Foods as well as Low Fat/High Carb diets. Also, Whole Grains, Dairy, excessive Fruit (fructose) and Lectins.
thank you so much, i always watch them whenever i have a nutrition test

I have a question: you said that when we have excess proteins, our body turns them into fat in order to store it. What if we lack proteins, would our body be able to turn that fat back into protein?
@professorzandes3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, no! The body cannot turn fat into protein. Going from protein to glucose to is an irreversible step in metabolism.
